These are some of the first official pictures of the firm's new Genesis. With a sleek four-door shape and bold nose, the concept signals Hyundai's intention to build a new luxury model that will rival thelikes of the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, the upcoming Jaguar XF and the Lexus GS.
The Korean model has drawn styling inspiration from several of its rivals, but it's the Japanese GS that it bears the strongest resemblance to. The production model is currently codenamed the BH, and will be available with a 4.6-litre V8 powerplant that will appear in the Genesis study. A large capacity diesel motor is also expected to debut when the showroom-ready model arrives, most likely a 4.0-litre V8. In keeping with Hyundai's new model naming structure, the luxury saloon will be badged the i70, and will be produced primarily for the US and Korean markets.

I've told you all before, Hyundai's gonna take over. They make great cars now and they still keep their prices low while making a profit...
Laugh all you want, they're coming up.

i agree. looks nice, the engines sound cool and best of all it will undercut its rivals' prices by far. most likely even Jaguar and Audi, even though they're great value...

i mean wow if they do make this car , bmw , merc jag etc.. , should really start being worried cuz i dont think hyundai are messing around anymore and now they mean business and if that car gonna be less expensive then its rival and especially a v8 i could see a huge increased in hyundai sales

It looks very similar to a Toyota Avalon like i said in another thread, but i do like the "bold nose". It's very unique and modern. I also like the lines on the hood.
Like lambospeed said, other car makers should be worried since this car could sell pretty well. All we need to know now are the specs i guess...

All of the Korean companies will, Daewoo are making are beginning to outsell quite a few brands as well.
The Koreans are the biggest threat to Toyota.

They're getting out some really good models now. The Santa Fe, the new Coupe, all great looking and performing cars. Cheap and reliable aswell. This one should be quite quick, but I'm still not convinced on the styling. Sort out the front end, change the paint and get rid of some of the chromeness and you've got yourself a very good looking car there. Expect it to sell pretty well actually, a good rival to the likes of BMW, Merc, Audi, Jag etc.

Sorry, the Amica and Getz are great? They couldn't build a good interior to save their lives and its just cheap plastic everywhere - they're cheap because they are cheaply built with poor materials.

The big question is, would you have this over a 5 Series, E-Class, A6, XF, S-Type, or GS? Being a Hyundai, it should be cheaper.

So - I'd rather have a car I can trust to work properly like a 5 Series.

Astonmartin... Go study some maintenance reports. Real ones, not a car forum or magazine. A 5 series, E class, A6, XF, S type (ESPECIALLY an S type), or GS will be in for maintenance and repair a LOT more often than a Hyundai... You can argue it all you want but it's true. If you think they don't know how to build cars then why don't you go show them the right way...

why do you say that?! an American company studied different makes of cars for reliability and build quality, and it was even posted here, and Jaguar came something like 5th out of 30 (something along those lines)... so why especiall an S-Type? Mercedes came very low in the table...

Yeah, Hyundi seem to be doing quite well over here. My best friend's Mum owns a Santa Fe and has been very pleased with it...

Mercedes came very low in the table...Because I take the opinion of the Jaguar mechanics that I know who work at Jaguar dealerships over an American companies 'study'... Those studies are compiled by owners write ins. If they don't make compliants or file compliments then they don't get counted in the 'study'. There's a reason why not one person, from the parking lot attendants to the OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP, drives a Jaguar. And that's at 2 different dealerships...

People can laugh at Hyundai but who here has honestly taken a good look at one? My girlfriend has a Hyundai Elantra and I always end up driving it when we go anywhere, it's a great little car. The interior is pretty rugged and functional, the engine is pretty perky and reliable so far, and it doesn't look half bad. My only complaint is that the thing was mechanically designed by monkeys! When I changed the headlight bulbs I had to take out the battery, the air filter ducting and the assembly case, and when I changed the spark plugs I had to take off the tires and the air filter!

Jaguar is actually pretty high up in the JD Power survay atm, i think that Jaguars US cars may be porrly built or something cos over here they run forever...
Its ok us saying that this Hyundai is great, but its not us that Hyundai have to convince, its the people who drive the BMW's and Mercedes. You try getting a managing director to drive one of these over his new 540i SE with air cooled leather seats and a direct link to buyawife.com!

Hyundai's cheaper because they manufacture their cars in Asia. While cars made in Europe would cost alot more.

Sure, a lot of executives are switching to imports because they're catching the Europeans in style and comfort and are already ahead of them in reliability.
Jaguars cars are Jaguars cars. They run forever here too but trust me there is a lot of maintenance involved...

The back on that hyundai looks great, the front not to much though.
i never though i would see the day when hyundai would go against 50k+ sedans
amazing
Unless it has a great price and warranty though it won't sell, if hyundai prices it right it might not be another phaeton.

Yeah, you're probably right, but personally, I wouldn't have one of these over a Audi or BMW. I dont have a logical reason for it, guess i'm a badge snob or something. I know the BMW may be less reliable, might look abit worse and cost fifty times as much, but its still got a blue and white propeller on the front and that to me, makes all the difference. Sorry Hyundai!

Why would you pick a hyundai over a Mercedes-Benz?
Lol, i wouldn't. I would honestly buy a used M-B over a new Hyundai, i'm sorry. Hyundai isn't a luxury brand, Mercedes-Benz is a status symbol. I'm not saying that Hyundai is a bad brand or anything, because they are making great cars, but the only way people would pick a hyundai over a benz is because they can't afford a benz.

You don't go from cheap korean econo car company to luxo car maker though overnight. Hyundai is going to have to work with this if they want to go up against Cadillac, Lexus, BMW, etc. If Hyundai sells a lexus GS compeditor at 35,000 or MAYBE even 40,000 with a good warranty, sure i could see that happening just maybe, but you don't manufacture $10,000 econo cars and $50,000 luxury sedans, at least not in America you don't. If i am going to pay 50k for a luxury sedan i'm going to sure want a luxury brand name to go with it. I don't care how amazing it looks if you make a 50k sedan and put a kia badge on it people won't buy it.

well i think it'll sell quite well - its a big threat to other car makes... anyways I've seen a lot of this car; all over the European car section. anyways still a very nice car. the whole design is so unique.

Monkey, my man! lol.. your right, my dads E46, is reliable, it starts everytime, there expensive to maintain, especially damn window regulators, but other then that, its great, and all other BMW 'boys' his talked to, love there cars aswell... They're expensive to maintain, there is NO denying that.. but there always good, if that makes sense, there expensive, but there always ready to start and go, plus there beautiful to drive! Oh, and this is all a 318i, once we get the 335i, or 330i, im gonna be in heaven! hehe
