So, Mercedes is soon to launch its new C-Class and the most powerful version until the C63 AMG arrives will be the C350. It uses a 268bhp 3.5i 32V V6 and is driven through either a 7-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual and is driven by the rear wheels. From a recent review with evo magazine, its been apparent that this new C350 is much sharper and more resolved than the previous generation, dispite being based on the same chassis. The new suspension and revised chassis has provided a much more enjoyable drive that resists understeer and loves to be thrown around a twisty mountain road. The steering full of feel and makes for a much more confident and controllable car. So, all said and done I think this new C-Class has more than enough under the skin and above to provide a serious threat to the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4.
Imo, the new Merc is much better looking than the BMW and certainly on par with the A4, drives better than the Audi and some feel better than the BMW. Mercedes claims much improved cabin quality and design. So, I suppose the question I'm asking you guys is, do you think this new Mercedes is any good? Better than its rivals?

I think it looks great for a saloon, good proportions and with nice little design details. I like the big 3-star badge in the sports versions.

well, look at it this way, the C63 has the same amount of hp as the BMW M6 (BMW's most powerful version), so this is the beginning of the Mercedes Benz's most powerful version.
It uses a 268bhp 3.5i 32V V6 and is driven through either a 7-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual and is driven by the rear wheels.
Isn't it 500bhp? And isn't it a V8 engine..?

No, read through the first post and you'll understand that I was talking about the C350 and not the 2008 C63 AMG. But the C63 will use Mercedes new 6.2i V8 with about 475bhp... according to evo!

It is O.K, if a little boring. Did you see the Audi of America executive (Johan de Nysschen) checking out the competition?

This looks pretty damn good, but so do the high end BMW 3-Series models. But I suppose if I felt like being different and not opting for the BMW, it would be this C-Class. Powerful engine, good looks, and very nice to drive by the sound of the review, I expect this to sell pretty well.

I think it looks pretty good, dunno why some of you guys say its ugly...The front look very modern and the rear looks very sleek. The rims also look very nice. Although those pics are fake or something right? Especially the first one...

thats nice
im glad theres a new C-series. It seems like all C class models always have under 300bhp unless tuned at AMG or aftermarket. Is it like Mercedes' version of a small car with good MPG?

The C-Klasse is the entry level sedan in the big Mercedes-Benz family. It has enough horsepower for its class of cars. The C-Class is a small car, and it does get decent mpg.
I love the new C, its great, i hated the previous C-Klasse. i will most definatly go see them when they come out.

i love it, the shape, i love it, i just love the front of that thing, it dosent look agressive but it somehow gives me a feel of something very agressive and comfy, im not sure, it just makes me love it...the engine sounds cool once it dosent get pass the 550 mark, its good, because then no one will buy the AMG and will buy the 550 with AMG packs...:p

I like it. I think it should sell because it looks a lot better than a 3 Series. And its interior looks a lot nicer than all of its rivals.

thats a nice classy model; so far most of the models recently released by mercedes look the same... but i think the front grill is just a bit too big and a bit wongulated... anyways i like the second pic of the mercedes in black - i just love the paint job and the sparkling & shiny paint...
