Does anybody know any reason why mercedes doesn't sell the AMG CLK63 coupe in the US? I mean they sell the 350 and 550 coupes and convertibles, and they sell the 63 AMG convertible. So why not the 63 AMG coupe?

Stricter regulations in america? Not enough projected market? Dunno, just a few suggestions. Its odd they sell the convertible and not the coupe, though.

emissions? aren't there emisions regulations? i'm sure an over-2-tonne vehicle with a 6.3-litre V8 isn't too clean...

This thread is similar to the thread about why doesn't the TVR sell in Canada. Anyways i'm not sure why but i think it's mostly becuase it doesn't qualify with the US regulations becuase if it did then it should sell over there....

It has nothing to do with regulations. If that were the case then they also wouldn't sell the cabrio, let alone all of the other 63AMG models. It's the bad projected sales prediction of Mercedes Benz. Mercedes Benz of Seattle has the same silver CLK63 Cabrio on the showroom floor, and that was the first 63 delivered to the store (Aug. '06). The coupe would've made more sense because the E63 sells so well (I've even seen a few wagons- driven one too), that anything close to a coupe verson would've been a good idea. Because it has a converible top, the CLK63 is the second most expensive 63, next to the CLS63. With cabrio having the most chassis flex, why would anyone buy it?

Mercedes Benz will be selling the new 2008 AMG CLK 63 Black series here in the States starting this fall. I wonder why MB stopped selling the AMG CLK here in the states. I just saw a AMG CLK today at work well it could have been a CLK 550 with AMG parts installed.

like i said in the other thread, i dont get why models like these dont get released in the US. usually japan and USA are the first to get their hands on models like these.
