Well I'm 15 and a half and i'll be getting a job when i'm 16 which is like in 2 months. I really don't know much about cars. Like i don't know what cams, headers, and a lot of other things are, but i was just wondering what kind of car i should get if i'm just starting out. My dream car would be a evo.. i like sylvia's to... I fantasive a lot about evo's and sti's but i know they're hard to handle because of awd. I reallly want something that's light weight with moderate speed and can turn fastl.... but i don't know.. any suggestions for a new driver? Something reliable that i learn to race with.

Oh i like the asian cars like honda, toyota, nissan, and mitsubishi's....

Oh and if you think a rally car is good for a begginer driver go ahead and say it...

Get a used sporty car...somethin' simple...maybe a miata...

But I think this'll be easier if we all had some more data, like, what do you need it for, what's the climate it'll be in, is $$$ a problem, and so on...But either way, welcome to the boards.

don't like convertables. and i don't like sporty small cars like miatas, mr2's,s2000, del sols. a small car i would consider would be a crx..

what i need it for would be racing around the hills and slopes. I live around san diego... lemme see.. money well i guess i'd try to get a used car so i'd say i wouldn't spend more than 12k all together for buying it and modifying things...

the only part i didn't get was the climate? warm weather i guess?

oh and thank you. glad to be here.

So because of your 12K issue, your getting a used car.

Man money just confuses things hm.. lets just say money isn't an issue... I could probably get any car i want around 30k. My Parents would pay for the car but not the mods. but personally i wouldn't want them to spend to much... and 12k sounded reasonable... but lets just say money isn't a problem in this scenario...

I would buy a used car anyways. they're cheaper.

before you buy one read up cause you don't want to end up **** faced and screwed over because you've been played like a fiddle by someone who knows their stuff

You say you could spend 30K
Then save a little more and get your EVO

If you don't want your parents to spend too much money, get a brand new SRT-4, oh no, it's a domestic!!!! Maybe you should try it, it's getting alot of street "cred", if such a pathetic thing exists, on top of that, if you look at an issue of sport compact car from about march, they've got everything you'll need on getting a quality, finely built 500 horsepower (dyno proven) SRT-4 for just over $5,000 in mods...

Otherwise, just get an RX-7, or Supra TT or anything you want, 30 grand is alot of money. Especially for a kids first car.

its more than a lot man, if i were you i wouldn't look for one specific model, id look around your area or auctions or whatever for cars which are for sale, and then look at prices of those first to get a sort of rough idea of what youre looking for, and move on from there

That's a good idea, try to search for a good used crx or an RX-7 in good condition.

Oh man, yeah in San Diego there have got to be a ton of police auctions, I'm on the local counties email list, so every few days I get a list of vehicles up for auction, and I just saw a 17K mile X5 4.4i for sale for about $7,500.

So, I'd check that out, thanks iplaygod, I forgot about that!

thanks for the advice. lol. My friend told me a car is always cheapest from a police aution or the junkyard. lol. He also said if i'm looking for cheap rare parts i should look in the junkyard to. lol..

I like the advice. It's basically what i've just thinking. I guess i just wanted to be reassured. Now i'll go look the cars up... and i've always like the rotary's my friend just always told me i shouldn't get one because their to crazy, but i'lll look it up.

thanks.
