Hey everyone, I am new here and about a week ago i was talking to a buddy of mine who just got a 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo and well he was joking my ride which is a 92' Mustang GT 5.0. He says that his car is the best car in the world or some thing of that nature and my question was that; is there anything bad about that Porsche like anything that makes it the least bit kick ass, or is it just perfect?

A 996 Turbo is pretty darn good, speed, comfort (reasonably), agility, and usability...That, and it's got 400 + horsepower and lb/ft of torque...His car isn't perfect though, no car IMO is perfect, only a few come close, and that sure isn't it. But it's a very, very good one...
What kind of transmission does it have?

uh, do you know ANYTHING about cars apart from the words "more horsepower wins"? The mustang is a good car but come on it isnt that good, you have to think about wieght, suspension, aerodynamics and much more.

His car is not totally perfect, it could have a better steering wheel feel and a better suspension setting... but at least it's way better than the average car you'll see (your mustang included, no offence).

Don't say that to Jack Roush or Steve Saleen, they might be forced to kill you.
I'm just kiddin', and yeah, that mustang would likely lose, it'd need alot more power to counter the ridiculous traction of the 996 Turbo's AWD system, for example, Road and Track did their annual 0-100-0mph test, and they pitted a 996 Turbo against a new SRT-10...Now, given, the Porsche had the optional X50 power package which gives it about 456 horsepower, but nonetheless, it beat the Viper by about a second and a half, and that was in the acceleration only. So, your mustang will need about 600 horsepower, some really good tires, and a really, really dry running surface.
Luckily, people like Jack Roush and Steve Saleen exist... :smt045

Good luck finding the 160 grand though...

Having personally ran two 996's I can give some insight. The way I was pulled on the autobahn was impressive, but with a nice super pushing about 9psi I could have easilly hung. In fact I have a video available of a 98 Cobra with a Procharger pushing 9psi (roughly 450hp) hanging quite nicely with a couple of GT2's. Let me know if ya'll want to see it and I will dig it up.

And the only way the mustang would win is with more hp isn't it

Orrrr....he could have meant less weight, a car will win with one or the other, and adding power in either instance will lead to a reasonably close race. :D

make the car a sleeper so then you take him on he expects to win but then you do.

You fool. A Porsche 911 Turbo vs. Lancer EVO VIII? I'd know who I'd back. the Turbo would absolutely smoke ya. Track or drag.

An AWD 50 plus year race tuned 400+ bhp, 400+ lbs/ft of torque car that has tech that'll beat any EVO 8 on the street in an endurance race, and you say otherwise??
Someone's got a case of overestimation. This is after we had our little MSN chat btw...

Ya' know, I tried for a few minutes to write something catchy and funny here...But the sheer stupidity of that scene blew my mind...
BTW: Don't yell "NAWZZZZ" by your car, or it'll blow up. It happened to me today, again. :x

In lot's of magazines Porsche 911 Turbo is considered one of the most beautiful and good cars of the world. Not just for is performances like top speed or acceleration and go ahead.......
That car is very good also for is agility in the city and for the grip on the track it has!!
You're friend is right in saying that he has a very good car, but it's a bit hately person!!
Just think at your car!!

The 911 turbo is nice...but when looked at compared with italian cars, and other cars in that price range, its kind of 'blah' they styling is nice, but b-o-r-i-n-g

spend 5 grand on your mustang with a new 351w engine, some headers, cam exhaust and a ton of bolt ons and youll take him no prob with an old domestic beater thats worth 10% of what his cost, but dont dare take him on the track...
porsches are very very good at what their meant to do, high end track cars, but theyre also super cars, and imho there are a few better
