As most of you already know, or don't, doesn't really matter, I'm out of a job...But it's cuz I quit, well, I decided after 5 years of no vacation, seriously, I was 15 when I went on my last one. I've decided to do some mods to the FEROCIOUS!!! Ford Probe I own...hehe...

Mainly I'm focusing on the interior, chassis, and suspension...The plan is to strip the interior of non essentials, such as the back seats, hey, my friends have cars and I've got a bed for that- ...The dash will be redesigned a la Noble M12 GTO, eg: Simple gauges, but purposeful. newer simple interior door panels are gonna be installed, no power windows...

The suspension is gonna get the nod from Eibach, but mainly my wallet
The brakes are one of the most cruical areas i want to do...
As far as the engine goes, I've already got an intake and full exhaust on their, as well as a chip...So don't bother with the "drop a turbo/supercharger in it", basically, engine mods aren't what I'm doing...this is about handling and response of the car to inputs from yours truly.

The reason I put this up is to get some other ideas you guys might wanna see done, and pleeeease toss up any possible help as far as warehouse and parts locations, be it online, or somethin' in a magazine, feel free to post some options...When I'm done, I'll try to put some pics up of the mods and hopefully a video of the drives... 8)

i respect that a lot, thumbs up from me. i'm sick of the whole popular american "pump zillions of horsepower out of a car" spiel. i'm more down with what's popular in japan - where they almost leave the engine stock (maybe intake/header/exhaust at max) and their money goes to suspension for things like time attack and mountain pass runs. in america it's all "i got this much power etc. etc." and straightline racing. no fun.

two thumbs way up from me for your decision!

i like the eibach suspension, and the stripping of the interior. if you wanna enhance response, perhaps steering wheel and/or a bucket seat. and of course some good tires and light wheels, but i'm sure you definitely have something lined up for those.

what kind of brakes are you going to get? brembo, endless, project nu, etc. etc. are pretty much top of the line stuff, however, stoptech makes brakes comparable to these companies too, for a cheaper price, so maybe look into stoptech.

you getting coilovers, lowering springs, damper, pillowball mounds, etc. or just some new springs?

a coilover setup would include all that stuff.

i assumed he was getting a coilover setup since he said it's going to be a lot of money. and i also assumed he's going for sway bars and tie bars and such too, all supplied by eibach.

Well, Eibach has a deal for a set of coilovers for about $500 which is a really good deal...And as far as brakes are concerned, oh god (it's pun time), I'M PULLING OUT ALL THE STOPS for 'em...sheesh.

The problem with brakes is they've got too be good quality rotors and pads, the calipers and lines as well as the distribution of force has to be correct and that's where the hard work is. Basically, I can't install that myself, I can do the coilovers probably...But the brake system, no. So I'm trying to find companies that have reasonably lower prices for good quality stuff, but I need to factor in an installation procedure, and that's like another $500 on top of it. But I don't mind spendin' a lil' extra money for good quality, I'd much rather do that than get stuck with a crap setup.

As far as the seats go, the racing seats are a thumbs up from me, I'm waiting to see if I can get a set of recaro's or bride racing seats from a company in the area I live. But that shop is run by a bunch of guys my age, so we'll see if they can come through.

So all I'm looking for is maybe idea's for companies I should look into, any good things you've all heard, and don't be afraid to toss up some more pricey stuff, that's what the credit card and checking account are for...

i like the sounds of the $500 coilover set, so i would buy those, you looking for four pot calipers or what on your brakes?drilled, slotted, grooved, we need some info mate...well i do anyway

Ok, the wheels I would like to get, are gonna be either 16 or 17 inchers, the 17's will probably hit the inner fender, so I'll have to check prior to buying, but the front brakes should be no less than 4 pistons and vented rotors. Normally I'd go for cross drilled and vented, but the holes I've read in a number of good publications actually increase braking distance in some instances. Reasons inlcude such effective heat dissipation that the pads don't work properly, hence why Porsche's much-touted carbon-ceramic brakes suck, nobody with those cars is slamming full-out on them. Anyways, I'd like to keep them reasonably light, but not at the expense of loss of stopping power.

All I really need is some ideas for anything I may be missing in like, weight reduction, or handling, any inside knowledge is helpful, and *more importantly*, if any of you saw websites that sell this stuff just toss up some urls. I'll worry about the sizing and pricing, I just need some places to start from really...And if I just go to google and type in "Suspension Enhancements" I get thousands of horrid companies that come up...So, like I said, just toss 'em up. And I'll try to get some pics of the finished work! :)

My advice is to get the most lightweight wheels as possible; something like forged wheels are the go. They are a bit expensive, but I'm sure they are worth it. Something from the guys of RAYS are always good, or maybe ROJA.

The suspension? The way I would go about it is to install either Eibach or Bilstein coilovers. They are expensive, especially bought as coilovers but in the long run and to the legality side of things, they are definately the two I would choose. They are the most high-quality porducts so yeh, I guess it would be worth the dough.

The brakes, since you can't get the tasty offerings from Endless, go to Willwood. They offer the best value for money brakes with credible reputation. Many people use Willwood brakes and are impressed with the results. Brembo brakes and pad might just be out of your reach as they are really really expensive. Also, use braided lines for the brake lines. They look killer and are way better than the normal lines.

For lightweight stuff, get some bucket seats; Recaro's or Bride seats. Oh yeh, forgot to mention, if you really want to enhance handling and that, and since you are removing the rear seats; what about a full-blow six-point rollcage? That way you can also fit some 4 or 5 point harnesses, just to add that extra effect.

i agree with m technik for the coilover setup, although it is pricey, lightweight rims aswell, if your removing rear seats maybe you could get an ICE install if thats your thing, aswell as a roll cage, to give a great look, if your going for lightweight like i said you want carbon fibre if your coughing up money for it
