I'd assume citizen. Are you allowed to own a car when stationed in Germany? I bet that's a silly question. And why are so many soldiers stationed in Germany anyways? I bet that's another silly question.I don't know. There shouldn't be though. Are there any Deutsch bases in America??? NO!!! Dieses ist unser Land... Nehmen Ihre Gewehren und Flächen und geht!!!! oh wait, I live in America, ooops! lol

@mopar, yes, you're a woman. :D
I'd love to be able to do 90 mph on a mountainbike at least once in my life. Going to sell the bike though in exchange for parts for the FC

Uh, I thought it'd be obvious that it wasn't an actual bike when I said words like "throttle" and "tach at 10,000rpm". I took my motorcycle to 90, not a mountian bike.

130 mph in a civic because it revved up at redline and refused to go any faster (this was on a 60mph road)

What mods did you do to your civic to have it running that fast?

Once did 160 mph in a heavily modded beetle (1300 with porsche 3.6litre biturbo) Scary like hell

Did 170 mph in an '86 opel ascona with an opel calibra 2.0 litre engine and the old gearbox geared for slow revving engines @6700+ rpm. (meter would stick at 5500 and started redlining at 4750 due to the old engine)Thing won't corner though.

Managed to drive 135mph in the FC3S so far but haven't really had the car for a long time and haven't taken it to a track yet.
When all goes as planned I'll be mounting the FMIC and BOV this month and be able to increase power to 240 HP.
After that I'll be taking it to a track where I can top out on the speed (nordschleife, nurnburgring)

(67 mph on a mountainbike)
10 pounds of boost and alot off fuel and it took a minute.

yep, read those and figured out it'd be a bike with an engine instead of one without.
Still I'd love to do 90 on a bike without engine.

@149149
You'd probably changed the speedo as well as it normally only goes to 220km/h / 125 mph right?

Not braking you'd go fast longer.

As said, managed to do 67 mph on a bike already with a non-suspension bike, direct pull brakes (bit better then old fashioned 0-tech brakes but worse then disc brakes) and sunglasses as only means of protective gear (I had a rubber in my wallet, does that count?)

Anyways, managed to brake the bike to 0mph in under 100meters :)

Also once managed to fry a bycicle disc brakes completely @ 55mph.
They ended up so terribly discoloured and warped that the wheels would refuse to spin as a result.

Had a LaRo defender 110 a few years back.

How modded was the 300ZX? If it was heavily, then I believe you.

They'll do about 160 stock...so it's not *that* tough to believe. The tires are also something you'd have to make sure didn't just burst because of the speed.

What was the rating on them?

The bike though, I doubt, partially because you'd need miles of road to hit that, and it'd have to be glass smooth. Further more, while those limiters on most bikes can come off, only one person's been officially clocked at 200+ on a bike. And it was 205.

And he said that was all it had to go.

Yes, I know that a Z can pull 160. I've been there. Its scary as hell. The car doesn't seem like it can pull it off, but sure enough it does.

I'm sure you just added some power right? 400hp got you up to 180mph?

You could say you took it 140mph, and I'd believe you. That's achievable.
Realistically, 180mph is not.
I knew a member who had a VERY heavily modded 300ZX TT, and he could just reach over 160mph.

High grade road tires arent rated for more than 110, but they have a 10-20% safety factor built in so they will probably handle about 130-ish.

You would have to buy racing/high performance tires to do much over 130 without having a blowout, and a blowout at 130+ = death.

If you want to check if someone is a liar, have them post a pic of their tires on their car.

Second... I've blown a tire at over 140. If the car's set up and balanced properly you can blow a tire at 200 and be alright. It all depends on the car...

http://www.nittotire.com/tech_speedrating.asp
Trust me my Goodyear P245/50 ZR-16's from the 80's are not doing 186+mph.

Early tires had their speed rating symbol shown "within" the tire size, such as 225/50SR16. Tires using this type of branding were not to have been produced after 1991.

225/50SR16 112 mph, 180 km/h
225/50HR16 130, 210 km/h
225/50VR16 in excess of 130 mph, 210 km/h

Beginning in 1991, the speed symbol denoting a fixed maximum speed capability of new tires must be shown only in the speed rating portion of the tire's service description, such as 225/50R16 89S. The most common tire speed rating symbols, maximum speeds and typical applications are shown below:

M 81 mph 130 km/h
N 87 mph 140km/h Temporary Spare Tires
P 93 mph 150 km/h
Q 99 mph 160 km/h Studless & Studdable Winter Tires
R 106 mph 170 km/h H.D. Light Truck Tires
S 112 mph 180 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
T 118 mph 190 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
U 124 mph 200 km/h
H 130 mph 210 km/h Sport Sedans & Coupes
V 149 mph 240 km/h Sport Sedans, Coupes & Sports Cars

When Z-speed rated tires were first introduced, they were thought to reflect the highest tire speed rating that would ever be required, in excess of 240 km/h or 149 mph. While Z-speed rated tires are capable of speeds in excess of 149 mph, how far above 149 mph was not identified. That ultimately caused the automotive industry to add W- and Y-speed ratings to identify the tires that meet the needs of new vehicles that have extremely high top-speed capabilities.

W 168 mph 270 km/h Exotic Sports Cars
Y 186 mph 300 km/h Exotic Sports Cars

While a Z-speed rating still often appears in the tire size designation of these tires, such as 225/50ZR16 91W, the Z in the size signifies a maximum speed capability in excess of 149 mph, 240 km/h; the W in the service description indicates the tire's 168 mph, 270 km/h maximum speed.

225/50ZR16 in excess of 149 mph, 240 km/h
205/45ZR17 88W 168 mph, 270 km/h
285/35ZR19 99Y 186 mph, 300 km/h

Most recently, when the Y-speed rating indicated in a service description is enclosed in parentheses, such as 285/35ZR19 (99Y), the top speed of the tire has been tested in excess of 186 mph, 300 km/h indicated by the service description as shown below:

285/35ZR19 99Y 186 mph, 300 km/h
285/35ZR19 (99Y) in excess of 186 mph, 300 km/h

As vehicles have increased their top speeds into Autobahn-only ranges, the tire speed ratings have evolved to better identify the tires capability, allowing drivers to match the speed of their tires with the top speed of their vehicle.

k&n cold air intake, JET ecu upgrade, ACT stage 2 clutch: with modified disc and heavy duty pressure plate, grex 90mm pistons, grex head gaskets, greddy connecting rods, complete HKS exaust system, greddy timing belt, VENOM superflow injectors, VENOM fuel pump, suspension techniques sway bars, TEIN type- flex coilovers, HKS T51R turbo chargers, HKS blow off valve, HKS racing wastegate, HKS intercooler, HKS evc v boost controller, HKS type-1 turbo timer, VENOM VCN 2000 nitrous system- 75 shot, brembo brakes, demon 2 body kit, techno-r carbon fiber hood w/ carbon fiber type- zoom front scoop, carbon fiber invader sopoiler, enkei rpm2 18in. rims w/ yokohama tires, and to top it all off i had a vertical door kit from grounddynamics.com

and someone said that its impossible to go that fast in a zx. well... nothing is imposible. and twin turbo 300 zx's will do 160 stock. so. weather any one believes or not is their opinon. but it is possible. nad with the rc-51 all you need to do is remove the govener and it'll do 200.

Alright, last night me and my parents were at my friends house (it's 3 blocks away from my house) so we left at almost midnight and then I am the one who drove my mom's ML500 to get home. That was my very first time I drove a car around the subdivision. My speed was 27 mph. It was kind of scary that a cop might pull over and see an underage person driving.

Note: I don't have a driver's pernit or a liscense.

You're a renegade.

I've done 110 in a '97 Malibu. It was limited so when I hit 110 it bucked back something wicked.

I don't believe **** he's saying...

Reason? he's running a VG30DETT.....With Twin T51R's....

If anyone here knows T51R's they know they are ***kin

monsterous....And Supra's can run a SINGLE t51R and make 1000WHP

there is no way in Gods green earth you could even FIT those under your cramped engine bay...let alone spool them with the limited mods you had...

maybe if you had some sort of 3.2L Stroker kit that I don't know about yet...you might get them spooled at redline..but that's about it

If you people don't believe me...Here's a nice little comparison between relatively modest HKS turbocharger ....and the T51R(which by the way the Exvitermini skyline run's a SINGLE T51R)

Now here's a pic of the engine bay of a 300ZX

yeah... a + B does not = C here folks

Yeah, well and more power doesn't give you a higher top speed. Gearing does. I could add a T5IR to the Lude and it would make a damn difference, I would still redline at about 130.

Yeah, well Drift has a good point. TTs are really hard to work on because there is such limited space. A T5IR would probably not fit.. its waaay too big. And in any case, you would have to get a new tranny for the TT to get it up to 180, and.. trannys are really hard to find. I think you might be able to get a six-speed sequential from Japan but its extremely hard to find and really expensive. Plus I think its geared for drag racing.

dp-m3, do you have pics of your engine, cus one the off chance you do have twin t51r's, i would like to see how they fit.

Driftster
Feb 19, 2006, 7:38 PM
You wouldn't be able to see them even if they did fit..Reason? the turbo's on a 300zx are mounted so low for clearance issues. Which is why all the drag 300zx's have "remote" mounted turbo...i don't mean far away...but they have them mounted in the front of the car, like outlaw class mustangs.....

I mean..You have to remove the turbomanifolds to change the spark plugs in that car..

it is NOT space friendly..it's a GREAT engine..and a GREAT car..but this guy is just lying..

Yeah.. I wish TTB was still here to testify. Zs can be a b*tch to work on because it's so tight.

Yeah, I have that. I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. I'm still waiting on the T51Rs that I purchased on Amazon though...:(

Use this "≠" next time. It looks cleaner.

Well sticking with the forum thread the fastest i have gone in my 00 VW GTI VR6 is about 137, i keep tryin to get it to 140 but i think it just doesn't have enough power to cope with the wind resistance against it.
