so my dad wakes me 5:30 in the morning and tells me to take him to the airport (too cheap to call a taxi). on the way to the airport, he bitches alittle about my driving like he always does and asks me repeatedly to slow down on the the road to the airport which happens to be a very low traffic highway with no speed limits, specially at that time of day.
so I dropped him at the airport, and on the way home I decided to go fast. It reached just below 240 km/h when it just stopped going any further down. I decided to keep going a little longer to see if goes any faster but then I noticed that my fuel meter went red empty cause I had only bars when I got out of the house, so I slowed down. although I was getting comfortable at that speed, unlike the previous times.
It's such an awesome place to go fast with very few cars to dodge, and they'd be quite distant and relatively slow knowing that I'd be speeding. so dodging them and switching lanes feels so cool, yet relatively safe (seriously, I wouldn't risk anyone's life). when I get my hands on a faster car, I think I'll have no problem hitting 300 km/h
I'll call the meat wagon now yes?
Took my moms whip out, I was on the interstate in Tennessee, and hit 165 MPH, scary as ****, I was driving a Fire bird Trans-am.
Hello, the fastest i have gone is 130 in a 1998 Volvo V70 XC with the 190 HP turbo. I was on my way to a Boyscout campout in mid February 2008 and for some reason i had a feeling i was going to get a ticket, well long story short i ended speeding off after a man that cut me off for no reason what so ever and got 3 tickets that night and went to court the next month and i am very very lucky that i am still driving and didnt have my liense revoked. Also just some quick info, i had about 5 tickets recorded previously on my record and i am only 17, 18 in November.
Are you serious? you guys dont even know what the tickets are for. i only have 3 speeding tickets. i have 2 seatbelt tickets and i have following to close and wreckless diriving even though it wasnt wreckless. now your tellin me the guy that was in the wrx isnt gunna get the same flack as im gettin?
Yeah but you're not a junkie which, his gf obviously is as nobody ever need needles for anything else ever since the beginning of time...you're just an idiot.

You'll appreciate this.
I was leaving the rt 47 exit onto 90 east Friday night. Coming back to Palatine.
There is a two lane enterance onto 90 east bound. I turned onto the tollway and some little $hit in a civic got me in the hole shot. I didnt see him.
After the rt31 toll booth, I started off with him (we both paid manual toll, no I pass), and I left this little $hit into last week. NO-ONE beats a bimmer when they are trying.
civic = 0

Hoo Yaa!

when a wide long road with no speed limits is all yours, it's pretty much like a track. and since we don't have any tracks in my country, only one crappy 1/4 mile strip, I won't just dream about speeding. I'll do it whenever it feels safe and legal.

safe? when you're travelling down a highway at very high speeds, that's not safe. just think about it if you wrecked. you'd be sitting waiting for rescue services to arrive for 15-20 minutes. on the track, it'll take seconds for the safety team to be right there.
legal? even when you're not getting chased or being caught by law enforcement while doing high speed runs down a public highway, its still illegal.

relatively safe. cause it can never be completely safe. that's part of the fun. and it might not have been completely legal where I've done it, cause although there aren't any cameras, a police car could technically stop me (if he bothered and could catch up), and yet again, he wouldn't have prove cause they don't run that speed thingy when they're rolling.
well, it's a long shot where I've done it, but I'm assuming it's illegal as opposed to some other highways around the world, specifically Europe, Germany if I can recall where it is completely legal. and they do have a speed limit.... of 240 km/h! I heard that from an expert when they took us to some traffic awareness thing back in high school. the guy said people drive there at those speeds and rarely have accidents because they respect all the other rules. this means speed isn't the main cause of accidents. it does lower your chances of dodging a sudden road surprise, but there are many other aspects of recklessness that are more dangerous than speed.

So...more 'things'. Dude, you shouldn't even be driving a car that's capable of over 35mp/h.
And what 'recklessness' justifies being more 'dangerous' than speed? Not looking left or right? Cutting someone off? Failure to indicate?
Dude wake the f*ck up.
You think you're going to go 500 miles an hour in a car but you have no idea the ramifications of what you want to do.
That makes you an idiot who thinks that your reasons for wanting to break the law & be an idiot are justified by your own stupid motives.
And just because others haven't had accidents, who were prolly experienced drivers who are smarter than you will ever be, doesn't mean you won't end up being scraped off a wall due to the fact that you're an idiot.

dude, lighten up. you think no one should go faster than 40 mph unless they're on a track, wearing a helmet, and followed by an ambulance? for your information, not alot of people have the opportunity to ever drive on a track. that doesn't mean they have to drive like 70 year olds all their life. there are times and places for safely speeding that aren't tracks. Alot of tests are performed on normal roads, haven't you noticed that?
and what do you know about my driving? what makes you think you're any better? don't make it personal cause it gives me the urge to say something like ur just jealous cause you ain't got the balls to drive as fast as me, grow dick and what not. which isn't a very nice thing to say, cause I never bragged about what I did. I did what felt safe and fun to me, and I do it rarely. I didn't jump 11 school busses with a mororcycle. and please use a less offensive tone with me. where do you get off talking like this anyway? theres people ur age supporting families out there, grow up buddy.

Dude you are so wrong, wrogntown USA wants to hire you as their Mayor.
I don't care if you are freakin Ron Fellows, exceeding the speed limit on a highway by <10-15 mph is fine to me. What you and other fools consider "safe speeding" usually involves doing 60 in a 35 zone and 120 in a 75 zone.

It's not like I street race and get chases by cops, so stop judging me. I've been driving for over 2 years and I only got 2 tickets with about 5 km/s above limit and it was due to a misunderstanding of the limit.
and if you're gonna rip on every other guy that's driven a bit faster than you have, then ask the mods to close this thread. cause you weren't expecting answers like "I did 180 in my Enzo at the Nurburgring" were you? and answers like I did 55 in my mom's car are just not interesting. so what's the purpose of this thread anyway?

I don't pretend to make good choices, I actually make them. And no, I have NEVER exceeded 10 mph over the speed limit in city driving and 15 in highway driving, and when I do exceed by those limits, I a make sure I reduce my speed. I'm not gonna jump on the flameboat, but there's a point of speeding and being responsible and knowing of your capabilities and your car's.
A track is a great place to test that, and maybe even a driving school. I'd suggest Skip Barber, or NASA HPDE events but it's apparent you do not live in the US. So (if you're interested), go onto the internets and find yourself a place where you can learn how to drive A) Defensively & B) Safely
As for people not able to getting on a track, what car do you own? I'm sure there is a car club that has track days at your local race track. BMW and Porsche have clubs as do Mustang owners, and Viper owners. Again, go on the internets to see if there's a club around that you may be able to join or attend with one day to a track event.
Back on topic, my fastest speed as a passenger is now 150MPH. Granted, my friend and I were not in accord with anything I said ^^ It still happened. There were no cars within a mile of us, in front or behind. Am I ashamed? A little. Scared? Yes. Adrenaline pumping? Yes. My buddy has been driving his car for a little over a year, so he is aware, to a point of its limitations (well, more its abilities and his limitations) and he made a "smart" decision of about when and where to speed. My fastest speed as a driver: 124MPH. Where my car is limited. It needed that little downhill advantage to get there.

speedometers are inaccurate from 1mph to 5mph. my Cobalt SS's top speed is 141, but i was going down an empty highway at 145 in cruise control. but i've seen many guys use GPSs with the same exact car, and its either 140.x or 141.x right when the needle is hitting 145.

Funny you mention that me and my homie just spent a day on the motorway to pick up some badass bass speakers for his upcoming party. We bought a GPS with us, solely to find the address. But we did a top speed run on teh way home. I found out I was actually doing les than 195 kmph according to the GPS when I was doing 200 on the speedo. Didin't stop us from setting a new record though. 206 on GPS/210-15 on the speedo.
My homie was driving though... but that didin't make it any less madass. It actually feels more uncomfortable when you're passenger!

The nearest racetrack is two hours away from me, and open track days happen on less than days of the year, and cost I have-no-idea how much money.

SO, my grams and grandpa came to our house in their shiny new silver E350, and they thought that I should do some basic driving. So, I drove their car around, hitting about 35mph, which is pretty nice when you don't even have your permit.
Other top speeds are 30mph in my dad's 530i, 10 mph in my mom's Cayenne S, and a BLISTERING 36 MPH in my sister's Acura MDX
