Since my dad's car is being fixed he is borrowing his dad's/my Granddad's 1994 Vauxhall Calibra 2.0L Turbo 4x4 which usually sits in his garage, well anyway I had a shot of it today managed to get it to 120mph and it flies round corners, for a Vauxhall from 1994 its a good goer.

My brother in-law had a Cavalier GSI tutbo 4x4 (same engine) a few years back and that was a quick car too!

^^^ never heard of a tutbo :p

My neighbour's son has a late gen Cavalier GSI, in the usual dark green, the one thing I never really liked about them was the silly looking bonnet vents like this one has.

i think the fastest ive gone is about 101-102 in my moms cayenne s(as a passenger). Since i cant drive yet, the fastest ive gone myself is about 50mph in a gokart in India.

Those karts are so sweet! If you floor if from a standstill, you do a little burnout and then rocket forward(kind of lol). Just drifting around long corners on crappy tires and the sound o' the engine behind you is awesome:driving

Went 105 mph in my Carisma today. My dad was piloting it though. He probably would have gone faster than that, but I immediately went "try an' slow it down to 80!" 'cause we were test driving it because I was complaining that it vibrated a lot at 75-80.

Funny enough, it actually does drive smoother at around 100 than at 80 for some reason.

Of the cars I've driven, the Cayenne is my favorite.I like the amount of feedback I get from the steering wheel, I like how it's weighted, and despite having 450hp it's easy to drive the car smoothly. It may not always LIKE what you ask it to do (at 5700lbs, even though the Cayenne's handling is respectable, it's not exactly at home on winding mountain roads), but you never get the feeling that the car is just waiting for you to screw up so it can bite you in the butt. That's the intangible part. Now for the tangible bits. Here's some numbers for you:

5724lbs
5.0s
13.5s @ 104mph
and 161mph.

Those are the Cayenne Turbo's curb weight, 0-60mph (100km/h) time, the time it takes a Cayenne Turbo to run a standing start quarter mile (400m) and its trap speed.

Had 121mph Sat-Nav confirmed on Saturday. The clocks on the dash showed 130, so 9mph out at the top-end.

Pretty scary stuff though, and only attempted on a very quiet stretch of road.

Once I get my license I'll take it to 124.27 mph. You have to have done 200 kmph on public roads in order to be gangster!

Speed shown is 207mph (336kph) on a calibrated Stack so accurate speed on Datron was 206.08mph.

Now the confession that speed was reached with my Tuner drivin, i managed a mere 202mph. Achieved in the confines of a 1.5mile straight.

As much as I don't want to believe you MADrod, I do for a few reasons.

1) I know that THAT car can go ultra fast, there is no arguing that.
2) That is a pretty obscure car, if you wanted to just brag for the sake of bragging you'd talk about a different car like a Porsche Turbo or something OBVIOUSLY fast.
3) Even if you were just a Cosworth nut, you'd pick the Escort as it's a faster car stock than the Sierra.

All in all, you've got yourself one hell of a car there.

Hi
Thanks that means something, most Americans simply dismiss the figures. Below is proof, a video shown on National TV of another 206 run this time in the wet. Its since achieved 0-100mph 6.8 : 0-150 in 12.7 & more remarkable 0-180 in 17.8 & 0-200 in 24.4 which is Buggati Veyron pace to 200mph, beyond that is the Veyrons territory ;).

1) Its my car owned since 1996.
2) On that clip its my Tuner drivin we both did runs but he was quicker in the wet & his clip was broadcast.
3) Yes spent a full day with Tiff, hes a fine driver & was shocked at my cars performance.
4) This was in November 2005 I think.

The car was running 700bhp + 150shot on that day so circa 850bhp, the car is being rebuilt at the moment for my final attempt to push the Cosworth Topspeed record higher (we already hold it officially at 206.08mph-set in 2004) however during testing we have achieved 210.4mph so hope to push the record past that maybe as high as 214mph all within 1.5miles. The new engine will have circa 800bhp & a 200shot so around 1000bhp.

You would be surprised the last build lasted only 9k miles because of a cracked block all internals etc were fine the horsepower found the limit of a 18 year old Block. The previous engine lasted 27k miles before a refresh however it was well worn & down on Power. Remember this is a road car not a competition car so not on the Nitrous/ max throttle all of the time. One of the best older Fords is the Sierra Ghia 4x4. Ford had a great idea incorporating the 4WD into it's more expensive road cars, which Audi then used on it's road cars.

It depends on how often you drive the car as well. 27k miles usually takes a lot longer to stack up in a performance car than in a daily driver.

Its my road car so drives to any event I enter it is not a track car, however it has all the kit , Coilovers, Rear Beam, Chassis connector rails. Jaguar Power Loc, Tremec TKO600, 6-pot brakes etc. However a Cosworth would not be my choice of track car, give me a Mitsi Lancer EVO 6 every time.

earlier this year i took my dads Z4 3.0si out, farris bueler type thing, ya know hes out of town, moms with my brother at hockey,so i go to breakfast and stuff. that old chestnut.

i told myself i wasnt going to drive it fast, but on the way home an 04' GTO 6.0 or w/e flashed its lights to race me, so in a burst of teenage adrenaline and testosterone (and stupidity) i dropped to second and hung a left on to the best driving road in our area, he took chase, it was pretty sweet hearing the Bimmers Six and the GTOs thumping V8, through the corners i beat him hands down the zed was absolutley perfect, we saw 120ish on the straights, it was epic.

then we pulled through the stop sign, i waited for him, he followed and it was a down hill nurburgring style over a creek but under a bridge s turn, took those at like 110ish i wasnt looking at the speedo, then the gto, who lost ground through the turns caught up at like 125mph, but then he hit like an aero wall or something around 140mph, i glanced at the speedo like 4 sec before i lifted to slow down at saw 151mph, so 153 or 154 was possible, it was still accelerating when i lifted so i know it didnt hit the 155mph limiter. thats the best race ive ever been in and the fastest ive ever gone in a car.

i went home and sat in the basement with sweaty hands for about 30 minutes, shaking with adrenaline....

my jetta's speedo says it tops out at 135, but at that speed 5mph of diff from the 130 limiter could just be calibration errors, idk.

earlier this year i took my dads Z4 3.0si out, farris bueler type thing, ya know hes out of town, moms with my brother at hockey,so i go to breakfast and stuff. that old chestnut.

i told myself i wasnt going to drive it fast, but on the way home an 04' GTO 6.0 or w/e flashed its lights to race me, so in a burst of teenage adrenaline and testosterone (and stupidity) i dropped to second and hung a left on to the best driving road in our area, he took chase, it was pretty sweet hearing the Bimmers Six and the GTOs thumping V8, through the corners i beat him hands down the zed was absolutley perfect, we saw 120ish on the straights, it was epic.

then we pulled through the stop sign, i waited for him, he followed and it was a down hill nurburgring style over a creek but under a bridge s turn, took those at like 110ish i wasnt looking at the speedo, then the gto, who lost ground through the turns caught up at like 125mph, but then he hit like an aero wall or something around 140mph, i glanced at the speedo like 4 sec before i lifted to slow down at saw 151mph, so 153 or 154 was possible, it was still accelerating when i lifted so i know it didnt hit the 155mph limiter. thats the best race ive ever been in and the fastest ive ever gone in a car.

I don't believe any of that story, because I've actually been driving 10/10th's on an actual track before, and I actually have gone 110 miles an hour, while having to concentrate on turning the wheel and using the brakes. It was on a very long sweeping downhill turn at VIR. And I don't know which laws of Physics you were using, but most S turns are physically (as in Newton's) impossible to do at anything more than 50 or 60, and that's in a seriously serious road car with a good driver.

And who makes bridges that follow an S anyhow?

With almost 15 feet of track on either side of me, it was hard to keep it in line in both situations, and I had to back off at around 105 to keep my car from flying off the track.

Besides that, I don't think a Z4 will do 140 in a straight line, say nothing of turning the wheel.

And if you lifted at 150 (which is a speed that you've never seen, I assure you), your car would have spun out.

On public roads?

You'd be dead if you were telling anywhere near the truth.

And where were the cops? Other cars?

Oh, in your imagination with you and that magical GTO.

Sorry to break it to you, but you are lying.

thinking about it 80 through the S turn was more like it, the roads speed limit is 55 and there are no advisory speed signs, so your average car can mosey through at 60+ in comfort. so 80 wouldnt be pushing too many limits, which indeed i didnt probe nearly 70% of.....

there were no cops, its in the middle of nowhere, it simply links two upscale communities, and theres not alot of crime so theres few petrol cars in the area, thats also why there was little traffic.

lol. im not lying, i can video the exact run in the exact car sometime if you would like.....

a Z4 3.0si, i belive they started making two years ago with the uprated engine, has 255bhp which is adequite to get the car to 155, let alone 140....

i dont know if your envious, which you shouldnt be, or what, but its the truth pal.

mabe its just a telling of how easy the car is to drive at speed, its much easier then a 997 carrera, i learned to drive fast on that car, and its relativly easy.

ive read alot of bull **** posts on this site before, mabe this is too 'awsome' for you to believe, but its one of the few that actually did happen............if you choose to accept it or not is up to you.

Well, I choose not to "accept" it.

I don't doubt it's a nice road--I drive on great roads all the time, and you probably did have a nice time driving on it, but those speeds you posted were totally ludicrous and completely unbelievable to a person who has actually seen speed near that in real time on real tarmac, on a real race course.

Don't let that imagination get away from you, though.

You want it to be believable, don't post la-la land speed figures.

Oh, and you're 16. I'm damn near 10 years older than you and I didn't learn how to drive a car properly quickly until I was at least 20. And that was on a proper road course. In a safe, relatively low powered FWD car.

Your dad deserves a scolding for leaving the keys out when he's not home for a car like that.

Like I said, you'd be dead right now if you actually did what you said, because the car would have killed you.

Busted, buster brown.

i gotcha.

i learned to drive quickly on an audi tt, i progressed to a 997. my dad trusted me, and well, i lost his trust, i told him i took the car out and paid the consequences.

its life.

and the speeds are true, no lie. i doubt i can take the car out without getting in trouble but i could do the run in my jetta and have a video for you by this time tomorrow.

Whoa, whoa, waitasec. In a Jetta? a JETTA?!

Here's the thing, boss hog, that makes alllllllllll this unbelievable.

That _you_ could drive a _BMW Z4_ at those speeds without _piling up the thing on the side of the road_.

you@age 16+Z4+100 plus mph=total balderdash! That's what I was calling you out on, broseph!

I don't doubt you could cruise down this route in a Jetta relatively briskly, because they're forgiving cars, and I'm sure it'd be a fun video. Go ahead and make it. I'll see what I think then. Just be careful making it.

BUT

I'm almost 100% positive that you couldn't drive a Z4 at those speeds, unless your dad "taught you" how to drive like that. Here's the thing. I know he didn't because I'm sure he doesn't want to find you and his fancy-ass car wrapped around a tree somewhere. Why? Because it'd raise his insurance and make him have to wipe his own son's ass after the brain damage.

Either that or he is suicidal/stupid/Jenson Button, taught you how to drive like a maniac, and just doesn't care.

Dude, I was 16 once, too! I remember learning how to drive! You don't just learn in a year or two how to hammer a car down a road!!!

Also, you and yours must be awfully blessed to have learned on a TT, and then a 997. Or spoiled and rich. Probably both.

Whatever, though.

You guys are numbnuts, by the way.

damn, i didnt know that thing had dat much power wen it was new, it had 98k miles on it wen i got it, so i probably didnt see much of that power anyway....
for the 7k, i paid for it, its been worth every penny, and have never spent anything else on it, major atleast

but, hey man, why im a numbnut??? :p:confused:

Last night my dad wanted me to take his 1.7TD Vauxhall Cavalier (with 160k Miles) for run to listen to a thumping noise, took it out and couldn't hear it so I thought I'd better pick up the pace. I was surprised, it managed 100mph, then I heard the noise :p

lol dude im not gonna argue, it happend, you dont have to believe it.

i said what happened.

and i am blessed to be able to drive such nice cars, im very thankful for the time i spent behind the wheel of those cars. i'll savour every drive i had in the 997 for a very long time.

and if you look on google earth 100mph+ on the road isnt unbelieveable, ive been on runs in a 550bhp de tomaso pantara where the speeds were above 100mph on average, although it is basically a track car.

do you have google earth?

EDIT: ill make that video in my jetta in the next few days, and im not saying the speeds will be as high but ill got nine oh for the run and you can draw your own conclusions....

I what to see pictures of your dads cars.
Not being an ass, I'm just curious.

:p

Went 80MPH in my moms Vibe today.

My dad hopped in the fast lane to avoid a car that was disabled, and this eech-bai in a Dodge Magnum pops into the slow lane and passes us doing about 85-90 at least, my dad was doing 80 so he could keep up with the traffick in the fast lane and she was STILL pulling away.
Some people.
