Seriously, if you're in an Interstate Highway or Freeway.. whichever you want to call it, 80 mph feels like 60.

The Murano is really stable even when you reach high speeds.

The only scary thing is when you're in the middle of 2 huge trucks. Most of them have like 34 wheels.I do know what it feels like to drive a freeway... lol. I'm not THAT far out in the boonies! lol...

btw... Most of them have 18 wheels...

Yep, that one's got 28. I've got one of those trailers. In fact, if he was using his booster he'd have 32. I've got a Super 90. It's a 90 foot three piece with a total of 40 tires. My point was not to be a smart ass or prove someone wrong just to point out that what Erik said about 'most have like 34 wheels' was incorrect.

That one's actually flagged wrong. There should be a flag at each corner on the trailer and then two on the front of the truck and the red rags he's got tied to the gen set don't count.

Why are you telling me this anyway? I own a trucking company! lol :)

I often see trucks with 3-5 sets of doubled up wheels. Quite often they're transporting heavy steel or dirt, but I do see them alot. Though it could have something to do with where I live, I suppose.

It's not really torque that affects rpm @ a certain speed (it's always measured by what rpm is being done at 70mph in top gear here in the UK to see which car is a good cruiser), it's mostly the gearing...

speaking of trucks......we were really close in getting into an accident because of a truck. The tread flew off, and this was in rush hour with traffic moving at around 50, but really congested. anyways, the tread flew off, hit the car in front of his, of course we were in a car so we couldn't see what was going on. so the car in front of us veered off the road and the next thing we knew was big tread heading for us, so we veered off the road and luckily it didn't hit us

Ahh, the wall separated. That happens when trucks use really cheap tires I believe, or have put too many miles on them.

What I meant is that, because it has good torque, they were able to gear it to run at a very low rpm.

Ahh, the wall separated. That happens when trucks use really cheap tires I believe, or have put too many miles on them. That has nothing to do with the sidewall. It happens to recap tires when the steel belts shift. This causes the layers to seperate. It has nothing to do with the tires being cheap... it just happens sometimes. That's why you should NEVER drive in a big trucks wake (from the nose of the tractor to about 100 feet behind it on either side).

There have been independant government studies done that show the fact that less than 10% of the accidents in the United States involving Class 7 and Class 8 trucks (eighteen wheelers) are NOT the truck driver's fault. People cut in front of trucks, tail gate them, drive in the truck's blind spot RIGHT NEXT to the little sign on the trailer that says BLIND SPOT! lol...

Chookes , you are just the height of toomuchery.

I went...well actually , me , the driver & the whole (yes , all of it) car were moving at around 80 kilos when a Nissan Silvia came barrelling past at what seemed like 5 million miles an hour.

But after putting 2 & 2 together , I came out with 4.012. And speedos don't go up to 5 million.

Seriously though , he was moving (obviously). Atleast 200 or more.

Now , I'll be the first one to not condone that sort of behaviour but when you're going relatively slow & then a car comes past at atleast over 200 , it kinda makes you go ''whoa'' for that second or so.

Well I'm not really being serious, I was very much exaggerating. Although we hardly ever get cows, deers aren't unusual on our roads. But then again, neither are children. We tend to miss both of those because they can fairly do damage to your car but sometimes we're too lazy to hit the brake.

The Swift by far is worse than syphallus. At least no one can see I have syphallus. I would love to know what the new Swift is like compared to the old thing. I couldn't get my hands round the stupid stalks either, being on the opposite sides. Trying to turn off and my wipers were going full blast. Annoying.

And no, I'm not being serious. I avoid deers at all costs. They DEFINATELY damage your car, as opposed to the children who are quite light and more squishy.

When I was out drinking a couple of weekends ago, an old guy started talking to me and my mate and told he was driving a 2.2L Vectra SRi. It's a quick car (compared to mine and my mate's car, Focus 1.6 and Astra SXi) so we were impressed for a while. Until he told us he had hit 164mph in it. I don't know how, especially considering I had drink in me, I didn't fall on the ground and piss myself laughing. Guys, if you want something quick, buy a Vectra SRi. Apparently.

I've personally driven at ~90mph in a Honda Fit.

Yeah. I suck.

EDIT: Hang on... I did about 80mph in a Go-Kart.

That didn't suck.

 80 in a go-kart!!!!! Where, and how, and why, and ok i'm speechless. What was it like going so fast in such a small little thing, and what kinda kart was it?!

Not that I'm one for sticking up for people in these threads, but, the M5 has a HUD, making it very easy too see the speed.

My test in a week !!!

Was it a 1.6 litre Alfa? What year? 1998? My dad has reached 200km/h with our Alfa. We could have gone at 220km/h.

That sounds a bit fishy. But whatever, I'll get my friend's C6 Vette and try to go for 168mph. And hope this time, my muffin does NOT fall behind the seat.

what was your time?

Sep 10, 2007, 6:34 PM
5.74 at 255. It wasn't my car so I took it easy in it. Mark (the car owner) has run 5.30's in it. He's setting it up for next season to run the circuit. He lost a bet with me... that's the only reason he let me near the cockpit of his car. lol... The beginning of the year was the last time I'd seen him and we were running easy passes and pulling mid 9's in the Monte trying to get the suspension tweaked right. A guy I do business with here in town just finished building a 65 Impala with an 1100 horse 572 big block. The things a freakin monster. Anyway, he wanted us to go with him for his first shakedown run and me not needing an excuse to run my car, decided to take the Monte. Mark came over and was telling me about the rail and I told him the Monte was pulling mid 8's now. He didn't believe me because there's nothing different about the car than before. I neglected to tell him I was running it easy last time he saw it when I told him that if I could pull an 8.5 I got to make a pass in his rail. He laughed and said okay. I ran an 8.50 with a 5! lol...

btw... I beat my buddies Impala by six tenths... lol

How does that feel good? Ow!!!! lolIt feels like someone swung a wrecking ball into you! lol

Actually, anyone can do it. It just takes money for the tests, the fuel, the insurance, and renting a car. I already have a Class 1 license so I can run anyone's car but if you really want to know what it's like just apply for a Class 2 Type A NHRA license, save up some money, and don't eat the wall... lol

Thread "Whats the fastest speed you driven at, and in what car?"

Unfortunetly, nigh on 180kmph in my '93 TR Mitsushitti Magnaghini. All in the name of science, I have a speedo and I'll use what I like of it.

160kmph (whoo, yeah... *****-footing around) in Ver.5 FD3S

Yes. This is a large percentage. Maybe this percentage is bigger.

You got a Magna? I hope they confiscated your testicles.

Unfortunetly. $2,500 off a firend of my parents. Immaculate. Removed the bogan muffler with big oval tip (typical Bwah sound) and replaced with OE muffler. R33 GTS-T 16"s, lowering springs on Monroe shocks (both not my doing either).

And oh man, does that 2.6L Astron lump up front pull hard. It'd make a great boat anchor.

Still pulling hectic whips in your SS bro?

Afraid not. A quarterlife crisis compelled me to sell it to my old man and buy a (cheap) Mk3 Supra. All proceeds are supposed to go to a house.

Yeah, like that'll ever happen.

Still, plenty of fun to be had, though I'm still trying to clean off all the rice the last owner put into it, and then unroot the motor and other moving parts, then I'll sell it on for a few g more than I paid for it and buy a who knows what.

Who did you steal the FD off?

7M-GTE?

MKIII's still a bit heavy. Could never own a Supra myself.

FD is my brother's, and **** me dead it feels pure sportscar. Petite and lithe, cosy tucked seating position. Feels great.

I'd never complain again about the Magna if it had even the gearbox of the FD. The Magna's feels like you're stirring a simmerring pot of **** and rocks where the FD's is tightly packed, good throw, solid feel and so precise. Sigh. I need one.

7M indeed, but only weighs 1450ish kg. Compared to say, a commonwhore, it's a hell of a difference. That plus 250hp, sway bars, good rubber and a lead foot have led to some serious laughs.

I know what you mean about the RX. My cousin got a series 8 a few months back, I've never driven anything like it. There is, however, a distinct lack of bowel moving torque, but when you're as low to the ground and running as high a boost as his, you don't really care.

Your bro's been done up?

parko1990
Sep 11, 2007, 1:12 PM
Rebuilt not too long ago, 2mm seals (some brand), Power FC - 1 bar boost, turbo-back SMB system (as used by the original RX-7 SP racers at Bathurst 24hr etc.) and recently front mount intercoolerised (as you most probaly saw from your cousins, SMIC is about as big as a deck of cards)

After new in-tank fuel pump and fuel pressure reg. FMIC + tune, expecting 220-225rwkW.

Made 190rwkW with boost only, 208rwkW with SMB.

Yes, certainly no Veyron thump but smooth linear power. At home in the corners.

Magna with quoted 105kW fly power, 1340kg, fwd wobbly chassis, deaf mute steering and no-name tires makes for safe fun in the wet. Spins 2nd out of quickish 2nd gear corners in the wet, ulleh. But it's not as bad as I make it out to be, actually hustles along decently in the twisties - more so than I expect it to. Tires are definetly the weakest link though, initial understeer if you're pushing a bit when cold and they're quick to squeal, lift-off oversteer when they're warm and start biting.

Why am I reviewing a Magna?
