70km/h is damn fast for a bike. I remember going about 50km/h - at least it seemed around there - on my mountain bike down this big huge hill, all grass, unpaved, and it felt like hitting the NOS button in Need For Speed. It was FAST, so 70km/h seems a bit fishy unless you have a special bike that is stable at that speed.
Not really, if you've got a big enough hill it's easy enough. I know a guy who rides roads and he's done 60 mph before, nuts but not exactly hard

There is at least one member one here thats gone faster on a bike. Its not that hard to believe.

At high speed, the front end is moving around like crazy on a bike. I had a hard time keeping the front straight just at the speed I was going, never mind 70km/h or some rediculous speed like that..

Just a random fact for alll those out there who dont think drag racing takes that much skill and stuff. In a top fuel dragster the g-forces are so extreme that the average guy monkey included, would black out as soon as he floored it. The g-forces on a drag car are more extreme then in a fighter jet.

You don't really 'black out', it's more like tunnel vision from hell. That's the reason why the first pass you make to get a Class 1 Top Fuel license is 1/8 mile, the next three are called moderate runs (I believe it's sub 5.5 seconds now, it used to be sub 6 seconds), and then two full, sub 5 second runs. That way the driver has the chance to get used to the launch and see if he can handle it. Probably 1 out of 5 can...

We went around a 110 the other day in my mates car. Didn't feel as fast as the scooby, but I was sitting in the back, and, well, it wasn't half as loud.

Top fuel is the fastest, human vehicle, acceleration on earth.
Its also one of the few that can cause acceleration blackouts, usually the only way to black out is to do a really sharp dive or turn in a plane, which is centripitle force and not linear.
Pretty much only a straight up rocket or a huge slingshot the likes of which dont exist could match it.

Just so you all know, it's just as common to black out when the chutes open...
But is that from the actual deceleration or is just because of the blood's initial position after the screaming accleration before it ?
If the blood is already barely reaching your brain, as soon as your current state changes (and quickly with chutes) youd easily blackout.
Im pretty sure if you measured the actual G-forces caused by the chutes it wouldent be quite enough to knock you out if you hadent just gone 0-400.
Agian this is just a guess but I would think it would be more a factor of the fact that you havent even recovered from the inital G-forces from acceleration, and then more G-forces from deceleration in an opposite oreintation just shoves you over the limit.
Id never considered braking forces, Im sure its on the web somewhere.

Jun 12, 2007, 6:47 PM
But is that from the actual deceleration or is just because of the blood's initial position after the screaming accleration before it ?
The chutes alone produce well over 5 negative G's. If you don't know how much that is... Top Fuel teams go through 3 or 4 sets of safety harnesses per season because they get stretched out... It's very painful.

Hm. That's sounds interesting. Here in Greece we have a tuned rs6 with 450-500hp. It's the station wagon. So the owner put in his car a digital speedometer (V-BOX, i hope to know this kind of speedometer. it can measure accelerations 1/4 mile, braking times and others.) So they put this into the car and it showed 310km/h. Real. (Around 195mph.) All these were done in a very very long straight.

Also the M6 and M61 are effectively not the place I would do those speeds. A track is far better, and you get a real chrono ticket as well. :p
The best I have done is 245 KM/H, but of course it was snowing, with a head wind, between Milan and Aosta in Italy. Slight front end lift prevented me from reaching the top speed of 270 Km/h and I had to slow down to go through the Mont Blanc Tunnel too :D

I don't have many pics except one, there wasn't anything visual done to the car apart from the exhausts which were K&N free flows. We had it super chipped which put it upto about 510bhp then the exhausts and air filters, was about 520bhp once we had finished. It was a one off doing that speed, there was nothing on the roads, clear, dry morning.. And a massive straight, so we just leathered it, was really starting to climb slowly after 190mph though.

You didn't answer my question, why would putting it in a higher gear blow the engine ? drag will let it go faster hence modified cars having a higher top speed than standard versionI'm waiting for an answer as well!
I dont know...whatever. you win.No, no, no.... you said it. Now explain it...
Struggled AFTER 190mph.That sumbitch went from PULLING HARD to struggling real quick didn't it? lol... You're so full of ****.
=] Doesn't make a difference to me anymore, we sold the car last year. We have ordered a V8 and a V10 R8. V8 version comes next year and the V10 comes year after. Once the V10 comes we will sell the V8.I've got massive respect for a LOT of members here and then people like you come and just make us all look stupid!

haha, I love this thread, its so entertaining, its rediculous.
People make up rediculous S**t, and then try to pass it off when someone calls them on it.
Its like speech class with the ackward kids all over agian. Get them up there and watch them stutter.

In an attempt to make this more civilised:
I did 120km/h in my '88 Magna SE last night on the freeway (unexpectedly mind you).
Yeah, rockin'.

Hey Timbit, that is a valiant attempt at making this thread civilized. But the guy below you just blew away all your efforts.
But to try and keep the real stories flowing, I wanted to share a recent experience:
Reached 110 mph in a 1997 Cavalier LS while on my way to Orlando from Daytona on I-4.
This is not the fastest I have traveled, but it was probably the scariest. The car is a small 4 door sedan, and at that speed it felt really "floaty" on the road. It felt as if the car had way to much air passing underneath and wanted to float ontop.

Actually I was hiding in the car with you and the speedo was actually just around 193.56mph. So, you're a bit wrong. Not by much though. I mean....it's not a big deal. Not really anyways....

Never ever do faster than 95 in a Lexus RX, 330, 350, or 400h - The one i did it in, just today, a few hours ago on my way up to Visalia, Cali. Gotta go see the house up in Pebble beach later, havent been there since December
It literally feels like if you jerk the wheel, it will flip out and spin on you...

I wouldn't let anybody drive my car that fast. Unless he's like Schumacher who can pay for it in case he wrecks it.

i managed to hit 120 with my neon, im pumped, always wanted to get up there **thats just as high as the spedometer goes** when i get a new car i will begin the quest, but alas i must stop speeding. turns out the road i like to just see how fast i can go is crawling with cops now. my gf and her mom both got pulled over for speeding with in the same week, and my roomate got pulled over just now =D a month ago u never saw a cop =/
but yea i have a lambo countach back home. limeish green with black cheetah spots. it is a matchbox though, but when i put it on the tracks i had, i had a time of 8.6 seconds for traveling down the stairs and through my dining room into my kitchen =D god those were the days

Well he hasn't yet. So that means he either has a life - or he really doesn't and faked it. I'd go for the last possibility.
