With my car i had(mitsubishi evo 9-400bhp)around 260 km/h real. With my friend m3 without speed limiter around 300km/h.I'm skeptical about this only because you say it's the car you "had"... an Evo 9 and you don't have it anymore? I'm confused...
So how much will m3 hit as far as you know?Over 300km/h?Probably.No, a stock M3 won't break 185. You guys can argue all you want and show all the 'videos' you want but a stock M3 won't go that fast, even without the 155 limiter.

I still have the evo 9.now for the m3 i said and i say again that the speed we reached with my friend's m3 was without speed limiter around 300km/h.M3 has filter, exhaust, remmapped ecu, fuel injectors and a supercharger.Am i understood?

Just by looking at the previous post, it appears you've added in mods to make your story believable, because before you seemed to be trying to communicate that a regular M3 will reach 300km/h, which it won't, because an M3 is not aerodynamic enough.
Also, to prove you do own an Evo, why don't you take a picture of your car, and make it your profile picture or avatar?

So you don't believe me that a supercharged m3 can hit 300km/h?I can say to you that many m3 hit over 300km/h(non stock of course).Well why you don't believe me that i have an evo??Is it so strange?

Nah, it's not strange for someone to have an Evo 9... Hell, I've got 6 cars, a motorcycle, a boat, 14 Peterbilts, 7 Kenworths, a Western Star, 3 Ford duallies, and a Chevy duallie... Big deal. What's strange is for someone who posts like you do to have an Evo 9. No, we don't believe you... Am I understood?

to be honest you post like a teen who has no driving experience, what road did you hit 180mph on? what were the road conditions like, how did the car feel and handle?
if you did that speed on a public road then you should be locked up.
if you REALLY do own an evo9 and bought it yourself good for you, if it was rich daddy who bought it then get a job and be a man,
also how old are you and what driving experience have you had

And don't give me this 'I was the passenger crap' either. I've been a passenger in cars at over 185. Is it irresponsible? Then you can consider driving at 100mph also irresponsible because you can loose it and hit a car. This is my opinion but I think it's better that you do it with your son then with a complete stranger. Might sound strange, but that's how I think about it, it's one of the reasons why my dad never took one of my friends along with the lorry, if something would happen... but anyways, getting off topic. Offcourse it is up to the driver to know it's personal limits and the limits of the vehicle. Driving 120mph on a road where you can go 40 mph max, then you call my dad irresponsible to? Irresponsible acting is only judgable when you are there in the situation and if you know the person in question. Now offcourse there are basic principles, letting a baby drive a ferrari at 100 isn't responsible.

I don't think that that question is a good question to ask if you want to examine Monkey's car knowledge , in fact any 13 year old boy can answert that , i have seen videos of an M6 hitting 330km/h without limiter and i once sent taht video in a PM to Monkey because we had a little argument concerning the top speed of an M6 etc.......
Anyway , when you want to know Monkey's car knowledge you gotta come with some technical questions and let me tell you something , Monkey is one of the most experienced members in SCF and he is one of the most technical posters on SCF , so these kind of questions are a walk in the park for monkey ....... i don't intend to get into this argument between you and him , i just wanted to make this clear for you ........

Boy are you stomping on peoples feet here with your pointy high-heels.
#1. You are a pompous, ignorant asshat IF you believe you are the only person here to "Have loved cars since I was born".
#2. Asking for someones opinion on what the top speed of a car is is totally stupid. Want a real Experienced answer? Ok.
Wind, Tire choice, Humidity, the last time the engine got a fresh tuneup, current engine mileage, wear in the driveline, the weight of the fatass driving, tire inflation, and how many bean burritos can fit into a duffel bag all have to do with effective top speed. Claiming a single figure is just stupid. Talking about a cars top speed instead of a REAL technical aspect, is just stupid.
Here's some questions for you:
What is a Micrometer?
What part of the engine is referred to as "The Saddle"?
How do you perform a compression test?
If your TPS is outside its operable range, what is a likely symptom that will be occur?
Name all Honda H series motors.
What year did the Ford 302 go from flat tappet to HO Roller?
What is the name of the common manual transmission (aside from gear ratios and bell) used in both Z28 Camaros and Fox Chassis Mustangs in the mid 80's to early 90's?
What is a "Freeze Plug"?
What is the difference between a "Flywheel" and a "Flexplate"?
What does the term "tubbed" refer to?
Dude I could go on and on and on. I guarantee you don't know a LOT of those answers, because you're another ignorant kid who reads magazines, and doesnt understand the first thing about automotive science, or even have ANY experience in the automotive repair or High Performance industry.
You have now officially bitten off more than you can chew. Before you go google everything i typed and still come back with probably eleventy billion wrong answers, I just thought I'd show the world how pompous you are.

lol, slow that was cruel...
anyway, i think the way a car drives is way more important than its top speed (lotus elise anyone), but i suppose it depends on what you want from a car. also, the top speed i've got to is around 142mph at bedford autodrome in a porsche carrera-s when i was on a track day that my parents bought me for xmas a year or so ago. you cant really speed on the road much, cos a: your a reckless nut that puts ppl in danger for your thrills b: u'll be caught by ppl with flashing lights and spend the night in a cold damp place and get a$$ raped by a bold bloke with yellow teeth.

It's simple really. The car does not have enough power or sleek enough aerodynamics to go that fast.

I never said that they couldn't do 190 (mph)... I said that they couldn't do it stock... STOCK, not even without the speed limiter. I'm not doubting that you've seen one break 190. What I'm doubting is that it was stock. Nobody's going to go through the trouble of disabling the limiter and not have some money sunk into modifications. So yeah, they can go that fast without the limiter, but not stock. They don't have the power or the gearing.
I'm serious! I was going about 150-160 in the backroads to Lake Hamilton, Florida!! I even asked my dad!So you hit 160 on back roads???? Which road to the lake do you consider to be a back road? Don't try to get creative with me either... I used to run around out there. A good friend of mine lived in Poinsettia Park.

Humm, i have actually heard reports that the german restriction on its cars in terms of top speed isn't always correct. For example, a few magazines have tested various M and AMG products and found them willing to travel over the 155mph restriction. evo tested a BMW M6 which managed to hit 163mph before the limiter cut in, and a CLS55 AMG hit 167mph from car magazine a few years ago, i have the issue numbers if anyone is interested. Therefore i wouldn't be quick to say the M3 cannot reach 160mph, it is very possible. You have to remember that a 330i with 'only' 262bhp is also limited to 155mph and has the same aero package.

Maybe those speeds are tested with GPS?

They use that Logic Box thing, so I think that uses GPS to deturmine the true speed a car is traveling at.

Better have your ducks in a row.
WOW. i dont think many people on the forum know what they mean, lol.. i knew max 3-4!! LOL!

That must have been interesting. 184 huh? And was the speedometer digital or did you happen to get lucky enough to catch the little needle as it pointed to a hair below the 185 mark as the scenery was flying by you so fast that you'd be a ****ing idiot to take you eyes off of the road. And don't give me this 'I was the passenger crap' either. I've been a passenger in cars at over 185. It's just as scary in the other seat to take your eyes off the road as it is in the driver's seat...
Firstly, i wasn't driving. I was 14 at the time so i couldnt ****ing drive could i and the 180 speed burst was for about 6 seconds!

Have you ever seen a Peterbilt with a loaded flatbed grossing 80,000 pounds that can do 120 mph? With the right gearing and turbo work it's easy. Anything can be done with a vehicle. That's what makes it such a great hobby...

It's funny how people lie by using oddball numbers. I guess they think it makes them more believable. My fastest speed (it was on a drag strip though) was caught by the traps. I almost missed the chute pull because I was so afraid to look down for it. I've done outrageous speeds on the street and believe me, the last thing I was worried about was the god damned speedometer! lol... Especially on a bike.

In fact, more rounded numbers such as 100mph are more believable than numbers like 112mph because like you said, the speedometer is the last thing you're worried about. When I step on it, all I care about is what's ahead of me, and how hard the engine's working. Of course, you might happen to glance down just to see ~ how fast you're going, but for real, no body stares at it and goes "Hmm is that 153 or 152?"

I got a ride in a dodge viper a few years back but I had so many things rush through my mind I never looked at the speedo. I have never seen any really crazy speeds cause I'm 15 and my parents own a 1991 Lexus rx300 (light SUV) and a 1991 dodge caravan. On th other hand if you haven't seen crazy speed you don't have to get all in a huff defending yourself.

True, unless you've got a digital Vbox on the dash.
But most people don't, unless you go to the track and want to see what your maximum speed was. The average person doesn't care about whether or not they're doing 47mph or 49mph.
