Apparently spyker are now interested in buying lotus to
just after volkswagen showed there interest

Pretty much every sports car enthusiast would like to own a Lotus at some time in their life, and it seems that car manufacturers feel the same.
Dutch supercar firm Spyker is the latest firm rumoured to be interested in buying Norfolk-based Lotus, having already recently acquired the former Midland F1 team.
Lotus has already previously been owned by GM and a one-time Bugatti boss, and is currently owned by Proton. Spyker owner Victor Muller is also said to have held early talks with Proton.
Matters are confused further because Volkswagen is in lengthy discussions with the Malaysian government to buy Proton. And while it was previously thought that VW wanted to keep Lotus, recent management changes at the German car maker mean it may not be so interested any more.
That would be good news for Spyker, which would be able to benefit from Lotus’s extensive engineering know-how and manufacturing facilities if it bought the firm. Indeed Spyker is planning an SUV (the oddly named D12 Peking-to-Paris, pictured) which could well be built at Lotus’s Hethel plant.
However, as it’s just spent around £50m on Midland F1, we’re not sure if Spyker has the cash to buy Lotus as well. Assuming it’s for sale, of course.

Hell, lets put a consortium rogether and buy Lotus. Can't be that much, they only really have a two model range and are hardlys in the black as far as I know...........

I'll start it, I put in £30 pounds, that should get me a seat on the board.

i want to know where spykers seemling endless supply of money is coming from. They have one car currently in production, yet they race at LeMans with C8 GT2R, there now in F1 after taking over Midland, and now they want to buy out Lotus. Spyker are giving the dutch a whole new look of maddness.

i'd HATE for VW to buy Lotus, as there'd be no more 1.8-litre Toyota-sourced supercharged engines, as i know for a fact Volkswagen would provide them with 2.0-litre T-FSI engines for their Elise's and Exige's. i wouldn't like that at all for some reason. when i look at 'Lotus Elise R 2.0 T-FSI 197bhp' it makes me cringe...

this would be seriously bad IMO... ^^^ i agree on the VW FSI engine too... just doesnt look right...

toyota engine in a lotus chassis = winning combination...

that high revving engine is a masterpiece...

leave lotus alone... just let them build their cars and do their thing...

well VW seemed oh have backed off and lost interest so were safe.
In my opinion proton don't really own Lotus, the only reason they bought Lotus was because they wanted to move upmarket. I have to admit proton's have a terrible reputation. So they bought Lotus and they were probaly saying to them "PLEASE, help us make better cars." Maybe Lotus could blackmail Proton, that would be funny Lotus. In there own way the sort-of own proton.

i want to know where spykers seemling endless supply of money is coming from.

His name is Michiel Mol. He is the founder of software and internet company Lost Boys, which has been a sponsor on different F1 cars for quite a few years. He made millions with that company.
His dad isn't too poor either.

I agree A FSI wouldn't look right in a Lotus. Lotus be a let them produce their fine products.
