IT'S A BIG ORANGE SIX-WHEELED FRENCH PICK-UP TRUCK!! is not something you see every day...

When we previewed (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/03/geneva-preview-sbarro-cruise-crosser/) the Citroën Cruise Crosser earlier in the week, we didn't have a whole lot of info on the orange beastie. Since the show's begun, however, we're able to add more. A joint effort between Citroën and the Espera Sbarro School, the Cruise Crosser is a vehicle designed to traverse harsh terrain with ease. Presumably, the vehicle's first and second axles can operate in a 4x4 mode (not an unreasonable expectation, since the new C-Crosser SUV is the basis for this show car). When the going gets rough, the electrically-powered third axle can be engaged to help get the Crosser out of trouble. That electric motor can also be used as the Crosser's sole propulsion source, giving the rig a true zero-emissions electric-only mode.

Normal motivation comes courtesy of a diesel-electric hybrid drivertrain of unknown displacement and power, but it can't be a slouch if it has to move this thing around. The interior (for which Citroën provided no photos...thanks, guys) features orange trim and mesh-pattern leather seats in the first two rows. The folding 3rd row from the C-Crosser source vehicle is in there as well, but the interior is really of secondary importance. This is an eye-popping, cool-as-all-get-out show car that really brings out the kid in us. Seriously -- a massive orange six-wheeled pickup truck? Our inner 8-year-old is going bonkers right now.

I'd prefer a dual rear wheel setup(as in, 4 wheels on axle). It's impractical for hauling huge stuff (only true work trucks do this), just like the Ridgeline. But, it's great for small stuff only (groceries, refrigerator, etc.), so that makes the extra 2 wheels pretty much useless. Hell, the best it can probably do off-road is a simple dirt road. I'd like to see some off-road specs later on.....

EDIT: this reminds me of the Dodge Ram T-Rex 6X6 concept.....

Whoa that thing is crazy. And in that last pic it kinda looks like a photoshop gone wrong.:p I don't really think it will sell. It will have to compete with Dodge Rams and Ford F-Series's and all those other american trucks.

I like the looks of it from the front but yeh the back does look like a ps gone wrong lol. All in all it looks pretty funky with that nice paint job. It would certainly get a few stares.
Is it a concept or is it going to be a production model?

I might be wrong, but I think you may need a class B license to drive this on the road in America

As much as I hate to say this, you're right. America makes the best trucks, that can haul heavy loads, tow heavy loads, and drive off-road where no car could ever pass through.

This "truck" probably can't do any better than a Toyota Tacoma.....

Read my previous post for more reasons why.....

uh

are the french stupid or something?

sure, it doesnt look half bad, ill give them that, but that bed is by no means what so ever long enough to require 2 axles.

its not even long enough to require a duely axle. theres no point in having 2 axles unless your gonna haul some serious weight. but given the size of the bed, there no way unless all the wegiht in in a trailer, in which case I hope it also comes with a class 3 or 4 hitch. or maybe some one will by it for their thrid wheel.

regardless, thats definatly not a work truck. what the hell were they thinking?

do both of the rear axles drive the car? this could be good for drag racing with lots of modifications.....

if you take into account the local market here in south africa, and the local build quality/standard...

there'll be a couple hundred on the roads within a matter of weeks (that's if the government has the balls to import them) and then in the weeks to follow, they will fall to pieces...

Doesn't look that bad. Don't diss the French! I like the idea. The C-Crosser wasn't all that good looking, but orange paint does kinda sweeten the deal on this model, and so does six wheels aswell. Actually looks quite funky, doesn't it. I like the rims, the tyres, the back lights and the exhausts. All come together for quite an interesting package ectually.

Mayvbe this car isn't practical as a truck, but it looks cool. And it's a victory that the French finally started thinking about building pick-ups and SUV's.
This Cruise Crosser (unoriginal shitty name!) makes me think of the Citroen Berlingo Coupé de Plage. This was approximatley 10 years ago a (concept) beach car based on the Berlingo-van.
I loved the car, and now I like this Crosser too. That's because I like the new Citroen design-style at all and it looks even cooler in a pick-up.

Haha, why on earth would you come up with this? It's ugly, you think that they would get the C6 right before they start making cars with 6 wheels!
