i tryed to look for the vipers skidpad but with no much scuess .....
i found non simular spidpad resulats .... but the best one is about 1.05 g and it is for a 2003 viper 520 hp .....
that the best i found for the viper.....
and for me this is a bad spidpad for a supercar .....
by the way 450 hp is pretty low for a 8.0 liter engine !!!

yeah but you can critise an american car over the bhp/litre. The american logic is different to Europe's/Asia's.
Also they can make high horsepower engines by simply increasing displacment; as petrol in American is so cheap - Europeans would get away with that. They are forced to make more fuel efficent turbo's e.t.c.

Okay..
To be honest i´m not very fond of american cars, except for this new Viper and the Corvette. The car looks much better than the previous one which in terms of design means that they have succeeded :)
The competition version of the Viper (coupé), which has already been shown is very beautifull and i can tell that this one will be much more sucessfull than the old GTS-R (already knocked down on most racing aspects). Its brakes were, and still are, very criticized being easily overwhelmed by those of the Porsche (the best brakes ever made).
Anyway i find two very interesting curiosities on this new SRT10:
1 - It wears the most larger rear tyres ever seen on a road car, those are P345/30ZR-19!! :)
2 - theoretically the car is capable of an outstanding top speed of 354 km/h (221 mph)!!
Tchau!

Viper is a true descendant of the legendary Detroit muscle cars. It sure is one of the prettiest AMERICAN cars in production today, and it sure has the ability to kick ass. If only the handling was better like to Vette Z06.
Anyone know of the Hennesay Viper? It gives me the chill when i see it's stats

mallon is right, the viper is not boring, and unlike ppl think it has great handling (if you have the skills), anyway, you would have to drive one to understand

I've driven both, Viper ant the Vette, and the Viper is better, it's a lo harder, but it's sharper and a hell lot more precise, have you actually driven a race car? if you have, then you can understand, handling is not about precise steering and no tire screech, is the ability of the car to translate the driver's actions in a good way, if you know how to drive a viper, you can kick some european ass for a lot less money

What a lack of faith, in a test at Arizona's proving grounds (really easy as of handling), the best track times between Mosler MT900, Lambo Murcielago, Dodge Viper SRT-10, Chevy Corvette Z06, Mitsu Evo VIII, 575M Maranello, Ford Mustang Cobra, Jaguar XKR Coupe and the CL55 AMG, the fastest one obviously was the Mosler, then the Viper SRT-10, and after that the Murcielago, the was the Vette, the EVO!!!!! next the Maranello CL55 AMG the Cobra and the Jaguar
Track times are not about skidpad and slalom, slalom is relevant for lane changes and such, it's also an stability and recoverabilty idicator, but is not about that. skidpad is an average number, even the Cobra (the chassis is based on a 1979 fairmont) can go over 1.0 g, the number they show is the actual average of those numbers, track times is about car behaviour, stability and control at the limit (that is the skidpad relative part)

take it easy on me
i never drove a Viper, a Vette i did but an old one 96 ...
i didn't reallly drive any Great sportscars ... my max was a boxter S , M3 , Tunned STi , tunned TT ....
i only say about cars like Viper and Lamb and others what i read from the net and from car magazines ...
for all i know skidpad is a test for handling ... and on road tracks handling is the most important thing ...
FR500 wrote :

handling is about precise and sharp steering with NO dead space in the steering ...
it about how the car translate your actions in good way .... ==> if have good handling then its all about the drivers ... you need a driver to know how to drive the car to get the most of it!

Its not personal :D you actually argument something, it's cool, anyway, i tried to say the same, but you phrased it better, but the story i mentioned it's true and the driver was Justin Bell, he may not be an F1 driver but he is great, skidpad is important, yes, but more to know the limits, the number at magazines is an average, higher skidpad means you can throw the car at higher speed in curves without loosing control, but it's not definite, there is a certain limit for left and certain for right corners, but thats not everything, actually the Viper is fierce, weight is a problem but it's brakes are marvelous, and it's handling IS world class, weight balance is not bad, and if know how to control it's oversteer there you go, there are lots of viper schools, because driving a vipers is hard, it's the same as with Rear egnine rear drive porsches, people think they are bad at handling, but almost noone can beat them

i have one question ...!
what a MOSLEN ?? the first ranked car name !
Viper's brakes are awesome now, previows gen were medriocre, but now it has some real guts there, as you can see, but seriously, the viper has survived challenges from a lot more expensive cars, and is becoming world class
The mosler is a rececar, pretty much like a saleen s7, sharper than most euro supercars, it has an small block ls6 corvette engine producing 430bhp and weighs less than 1000kg, also you didnt comment con the vette and the evo beating the maranello (who cares, everyone love the maranello and the maranello is a GT not a track car), anyway, i hope ferrari does some Maranello GT or something, that would kick some serious ass
Anyway, that test aren't 100% correct as for performance, thats a track intended for limits, and it gives a great idea, but for example, in Nurbuhring (or however it's spelled) the results would be different, also on a longer track, the EVO would fall back, but sport compact cars have evolved a lot, damn, an EVO fighting a Maranello.........awesome (just wait for focus cosworth 2004)

I thought the car you were refering to was called the Mosler not the Moslen. Didnt some guy hand build that car? I read an article. He was heralded as a great engineer and not a designer, thats why his cars are so bad ass. He builds them for performance before asthetics

Me too, the EVO is fast, but in curvy uphill mountain roads, there is nothing that helps as torque, also the 575 is better, no matter what Motortrend say, the test consisted of two big curves and two short straights, not that hard.

The Viper was never and has never been meant to handle well at all because it was not designed to do that.. It's as pure as a drag car as you can find. FR500, where exactly did you drive the Vette and Viper? Driving 30 mph in your neighborhood doesn't count as properly "handling" the car.
