Is it just me, or is the American auto industry not making any new DIFFERENT good cars. Like, the Focus came out, that was pretty cool, especially with the SVT version and maybe the RS. But like, How many remakes of the Mustang is there gonna be? We really only have THREE fast cars, the Mustang, The Corvette(dont get me wrong, thats one of my favorite cars) and the Viper. Thats IT! Is there plans to make some new car that I havnt heard of yet? Cuz please let me know if there is.

There are lots more, they are just not commercial, and btw, the focus is an euro product Saleen S7, Mosler MT900 Photon are good examples

The Focus is made by Ford, Ford is an american company, its readily availiable in America, so its an American car. As for the others, The Saleen S7 costs a bajillion dollars, and I'm sure the other one does too, can I have a link to a site that has it though, cuz I'd like to see it. Unless its just another name for the Esperante, in which I've already driven one on Gran Turismo 3 :)

I'd just like to first mention that very stupidly, the Focus RS isn't avaiable in the States. How moronic is that? I'd also like to point out all of the excellent automobiles in Australia, both from Ford and Holden(Aussies GM division). There as so many possibilities of bringing those sweet street machines State side, but no effort has really been given forth, besides the GTO(which I still say is a really nice car in the face of popular disliking of it). Sad but true, apparently the only performance cars are already being made according to most car manufactuors. Vette, Mustang, and Viper, what else could you want? Nothing as far as GM and Ford are concerned. Dodge is BAM! kicking it up a notch next year with the cool retro-ish muscle vvagen Magnum and the following model year with the Challenger R/T revamp(or is it Charger? Eck, it's real late for me). So yeah, we are stuck in a rut with two outta three major car manufactuers for a while. I don't know how the new Mustang is gonna be priced, but for the real muscle version, you're probably gonna have have pretty deep pockets. Imports have taken performance to a new level in America and we simply keep coughing up the old formula Corvette and VERY old 'Stang as the only real competitors for these new challengers. *shrug* I'mno expert, couldn't tell you why such is the case.

I agree. Why would an american company release the high performance RS in europe and give us the cool but moderate SVT? Not fair. It's really mean. But i think all of the american companies focus they're design strength on trucks rather than cars. After all, american trucks make up somehting like 50% of all U.S. sales. Have you noticed that some of the best american cars are trucks? Lightning, SRT-10, Silvarado SS?

It's matter of market, i think a limited run of the 2005 focus cosworth will reach US, but you wont buy a FWD car that accelerates as fast as an SRT-4 for 10.000 plus, no matter the 1.00g braking and 0.95g average skidpad, and that i can lap on the lotus proving grounds almost as fast as the elise
Amaerica will get a turbocharged focus to battle the SRT-4, next year i think, it may have more power than the RS, but the RS will still be a better engineered car
Americans are suckers for nostalgia. They continually look back to classics and try to bring them back in all their glory yet they fall short due to restrictions from emissions tests and CARB. Europeans and Japanese are usually the ones to revolutionize the car industry. American companies put in some massive heavy engines and leave the cars without an ounce of class. Their cars tend to focus on raw power rather than a balance of power, handling and styling.

First half yes, last half, mebby, not really, no... I have much liking of the new Cadillacs. They have an edgey, literally, look to them that slighty mimicks some would say German sytling, but is still very much it's own distince trend. And when you think os a Cadillac, you think of class. I think ther will be some corvette enthusiests that will glady debate you on this matter as well, having intamte knowledge of engine sizes, weights, and a balance of power. but yes, Americans will gravitate to a"i will rule all" V-6 rather than a "annoying little" I-4, turbo charged or not. Nostalgia rejoice, you have found a welcome home in the States.
So I agree abooouuut 60%....ish

That's what makes foreign cars so great in America... It's not like you can tune a V-10 Viper from 500hp to about 1200... Japanese cars are very custimizable which makes them almost more popular in America than actual American cars. I'd rather have a foriegn car anyday, over a Ford or Chevy car... And I'm not sayin ford and chevy are the only ones that make cars... because in actuality, I don't like ford cars. Very poorly built engines make them die quickly...
Me? not 60% agreed, more like 80%. But hey, thats what makes the world of cars so great!

You are wrong, ford engines dont die quickly, my friends bronco has 300.000km and is still powerful, my explorer has 160.000 without any fix, and my mechaninc's evo VII engine cracked at 36.000km, even the Mod V8 that has had many problems last a real long time.

Vandalia is a little city just north of Dayton. The Dayton Internatinol Airport is here, not in Dayton for some reason, and we just recenlty had the somewhat huuuuge Airshow this month. I don't know how well know this event is, but insane amounts of people come every year. If you have no clue what I'm taling aobut, to put it simply, It's in Ohio whcih is ins the United States of America.

Woah, it really is pathetic and ingnorantly stupid of you to say you would rather have a japanese car car over ANY American car. With saying that, you would rather take a Corolla over a SVT Cobra R, a Camry over a Z06 Corvette, and a CRV over an Ford Lightning. Well done jackass, you've just proven to everyone that brand loyalists are totally retarded. You should be proud :!:

Oh man, you are soo lucky. You live near dayton? Thats the coolest muesem ever! And they were supposed to have some really rare planes at that airshow. It's been 100 years since Orville and Wilbur flew the Flyer over kitty hawk. Damm amazing. What i wouldn't give to live were you are.
Geez, Evo, being a little harsh, aren't we? Give him a break. Maybe he doesn't have the american car knowledge like you have. Maybe he thinks japanese cars are the best because thats what the media tells him. Either that, or he's a jackass like you said. And in that case, may god have mercy on his soul, for he has sinned the biggest sin there is known to man. Being a jackass. I hope thats not the case.

You really have a knack for insulting people don't you? I don't think thats really so much a good thing. It just makes me mad at how condesending you make yourself sound. I'm not Anti-American, I'm Pro Quality, it just so happens to be found in the Japanese and European Auto inusdtries, it's not my fault. The Subject was Japanese against American at the time, so thats what I compared. I'm really mad, you seem to have a uncanny ability to get under my skin for whatever reason Evo. Look, everyone and thier MOM has a Mustang, I don't wanna be everyone else. The other American Options just don't appleal to me and YES they DON'T have as high a build quality that the other markets provide, it's a widely know fact, though often disputed by people who think it reflects upon themselves as Americans personally. Dorks. Anyway, I never said anything about Trucks and SUV's, so I dunno why you lsited them in your little rant. I'd never purchase either. Get a grip.
PS Thanks for calling me a jackass, that brings this exchange of ideals to a all new low. Name calling......again I say.....is pretty pre-school and it's not going to get a positive response. I would HOPE you'd know that when you call soemone a deroggitory name it's going to get a negative response. Do unto others as you would have done unto you, so I'm gonna give you the benifit of the doubt and hope you weren't using your brain when you made that post.

Corvette and Mustang and Viper, the best American cars, right? Well, there's Japanese cars I'd take over ALL of them! This is what I meant when I said I'd take "Japanese car over ANY American car" even the "best" Ameican cars. Sorry someone thinks by Cars I meant Trucks and SUVs as well.

Raith, you have my support man.
EVO, you could be a little more gentle, and you could also use your brain before you post something. Check this out:
With saying that, you would rather take a Corolla over a SVT Cobra R, a Camry over a Z06 Corvette, and a CRV over an Ford Lightning
If you haven't learned it yet, then allow me to tell you: when you compare cars, you always compare same categories, same performance potential and same price range. If you don't do that, you do nothing. So, by posting the above quote, you just proved that you are being selfish and that the spectrum of your knowledge about cars other than american (not in theory, I mean in real life) is limited. In a few words, try to have some arguments to support what you're saying.
BTW, aren't you the owner of a Japanese car? (the EVO8)
If you really are, then its a pity, because great cars like that deserve more respectful and knowledgeable owners, and not just immature name-callers with lots of money.
Raith, let me say it one more time man, you have my support.

Oh mah gawd, I called someone a name. It wasnt even Raith who I was talkin to!WRX_STi saidI'd rather have a foriegn car anyday, over a Ford or Chevy car WRX guy said that. In that HE was the one who wasnt comparing anything, like the prices and performance ranges, so of coarse I used the extremes of the two catagories. ANY means ALL. So calm down. And yes, I do have an Evolution. I appriciate that it is probably the best all around performing car for that price range. THATS why I bought it, WITH THE MONEY I EARNED. Yes, America is lacking in the high end car division, thats why I started this topic to see if there was any news on better cars that might be out there. I too am tired of the monatony of the cars being produced here. I think that the American car industry really needs to step up and start producing MORE higher quality vehicles. But anyone who says that they would rather have ANY foriegn car over ANY Ford and Chevy, is not someone who I would actually pay attention to for more then 2 seconds.[/b]

geez, were both getting a little nippy. I just hope i don't get dragged into it. All i'm saying is that all people are entitled to their opinion, and they have a reason for that. It took me a while to figure that one out.

Sometimes I swear I'm Bi-Polar :P
I think I DID say "I'd take any Japanese car over and AMerican car" just on a diffrent Topic. Good greif, I need to get more sleep. Yeah, and I'd still hope that STI was meaning what I meant, diffrent catagories and diffrent classes and such. Hey, we don't awlays say exactly what we mean.
But look, I still think its useless to call people names. This is supposed to be an in depth exhancge of ideas and opinions, name calling is totally uneccisary and frankly, immature.
