Yeah dude, The late 60's, I wanna say 67 Oldsmobile Cutlass that came stock with the Herst Shifter. That was a bitchin car! Too bad Oldsmobile sucks now. But back in the day, they had some pretty good cars.

of course i'm a fan. They used to say GM had all the car genres covered. If you want luxury, go with buick and cadillac. If you want performance, go to pontiac. If you want an inexpansive, solid car, go with chevy. And if you wanted all three, go with Oldsmobile. MY dad used to have a '70 Olds 98 4 door. He said it was the smoothest, most comfortable car he's ever driven. It wasn't fast, but it kept up on the freeway and you could stuff a family of four in the trunk! My personal favorite olds was the '70 4-4-2 with a 455. One of the best muscle cars of the time. Extremely fast for a luxury car. I think it was the muscle car equivalent of the M5!

In GM's own words "30 years ago we had the best cars, 20 years ago we didn't" But yeah, now they're trying to make a come back in a serious way. The older oldsmobile(no pun intended) were very cool powerful yet comfortable cars. Go past the 70's to the present and you get okay-ish to moderately acceptable cars. I would love to have the Alreo concept, I liked it a good deal more than what finally rolled out. Along with that I'd take the tuning job they did on the engine when they used it for the base powerplant for the Shelby Series 1. Olds made, and still makes stellar engines.(just not in production vehicles :P )

wasn't oldsmobile supposed to go out of business a couple of years ago? Or did they already without me knowing? totally possible.

Yeah, it's still in the phasing out process though, not sure when they get their life line pulled though. Oh, and I meant the Alero concept car. I typo too much and write late enough so I'mnot up tot he task of putting up good posts anymore :P

Aerotech always pops up in my mind, every time i see or hear Oldsmobile. Unbelievable machine! It's not only the vehicle itself that makes it a fantastic vehicle, though. It's top speed also is breathtaking. 278 mp/h. With a 750hp engine. I can't find much info about it though. Anyone has some more interresting facts about this car :?:

No, it wasn't tuned. It was a concept ( 2 versions were made, the longtail and shorttail. ). And it had a 750HP engine, the Oldsmobile Aerotech. That's all i know.

Oldsmobile is another victim of poor GM quality. They were awesome 30 years ago, but never have been quite the same. I'm not sure exactly when, but they are definitly going to be shut down in the near future. You can still goto your GM dealer and get whatever 2003 Models are still left. Alero(small sedan or coupe), Aurora (midsized sedan), Silhouette(mini-van), or Bravada(SUV). So I guess whe they run out of those, its the end for Oldsmobile.

The Alero has a watse of 3.4-liter V-6 that pukes out 170 hp through a very dated 4-speed automatic(you can only get a manual for the I-4{140 hp 2.2-liter}). The Aurora has a puney 260hp, 4.0-liter V-8 thats mated to *gasp* a 4-speed automatic. The Mini-van gets a v-6 with a 185 hp(the same 3.4 liter dispalcement as the Aleros). And the Brvada has a 4.2-liter Inline 6 that manages 275 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Now whats wierd about this one is the max hp is available at 3,600 rpm, but the torque is had at 6,000 rpm. Very weird. Did I mention thye all get sub-par fuel economy? For such low outputs, you'd think they'd have decent mpg gallon stats, but no dice. GM apparently gave up on Oldsmobile and they don't even get to go out with a bang.

poor old olds. They were once the flagship for middle of the road design.
