"Porsche is updating the 911 for the 2008 model-year in line with the sport carmaker’s usual practice of changing its models roughly every three to four years. It will be hard to spot the difference between the new and the old as these latest renderings show, because most of the changes will be under the new sheet-metal.
Visually, the car is being enhanced with larger front air intakes and new fog-lights in the front bumper, giving a more aggressive look. Sportier variants get a larger front lip, but it remains uncertain whether the potent Turbo and upcoming Turbo Cabrio and GT2 will receive the same upgrades. At the rear are a new set of LED taillights and a new diffuser similar to that on the new GT3.
The biggest change is under the hood, thanks to the addition of a range of new direct-injection engines. Fuel economy improvements of over 10% are claimed by Porsche, and up to 15% in real life. The other big change is the inclusion of a DSG-style dual-clutch gearbox as an option. Most models will also come with a slight power increase in the range of 5-25hp."

NOOO!!!i mean the rear light is like following the shape of the cayenne facelift..

from where i saw chops the front is messy, and the rear exhausts are not clean, well the front, i do see difference but it basically just looks the same as this (http://www.edmunds.com/media/seo/500/2006.porsche.911.jpg), but well this is just a similar to the turbo grills, and the rear just makes it look sad, i dont like the shape, i dont like the strip of the white thing, just makes it so weird...

Eww the back looks like a crying fat kid. The front looks a bit softer IMO. But the new direct injection system should be good. But I don't really think the 911 needs a facelift, its perfect the way it is.

the porsche design board have the easiest job in the world, they have changed barley anything, there are lazy slobs who probaly spend most of there time in the cateen, this is the probelm i have with porsche, barely in imagination

Each rear light looks like Tom Ks lips with bright red lipstick on...

i dont see any facelifting... but there is butt lifting... :D

cornered line for the tail light...it ugly...:eek:

i liked the old one better, the tail lights are not as good as the old ones.

I don't think it's so bad, the front looks "softer" let alone more aggresive. Yeah, I think it looks quite good overall.

The front end is wayyyy too protruding out, and it's pretty ugly, and don't get me started on the rear. I would really like to know who's designing all thse Porsches.

If I had to choose any signel shape of 911, it would be the 997. It looks gorgeous, all the lights and stuff are perfect, lovely lines and lovely engines, so all this sucks now.

I could not have said it better. Porsche honestly should not touch the 997, they just F*cked it allll up with this stupid rear end. Pretty soon those rear lights will just be a thin strip of LED's. If only Mr. Porsche himself was still around, seems like all great companies really lose alot when their founders die.

Honestly, It will probably all grow on us, I remember my first thougts of the 996 models, I was mad and though they looked to futuristic. In the end this is what Porsche has given us and there is nothing we can do but embrace it or just drop them. Dropping them for me is not an option so all I can do is just sit and watch.

First Porsche had a quite nice looking car when they made their cars not look ugly. Now they are trying to make their cars look better and less boring by making them uglier and... just about the same all at the same time

I'm seriously getting bored of the bug eyes, almost all previous 911s had them, its getting old old now, cant they change the design of them, i prefer something like the GT2s headlights....
And the back looks so unhappy and fat and it looks hardly any different to the current one.

There are two things going on in this thread.

1. Opinions on the looks of the car. (Which is what this is supposed to be)

2. Opinions on Porsche's marketing and criticizing it.

If you fall into the second category you are plain ignorant and I'll tell you why. You will find that Porsche is the most profitable carmaker out there. And have been now for a bit. WW has turned Porsche into a gold mine. So when people say they will lose their rep, no one will buy them ect... It's utter stupidity. They continue to turn record breaking profits for themselves and continue to thrive. Porsche marketing experts are very good, and I agree subtle with their changes, but that's what they do, and it works.

So if it's ugly to you, then great. If you think they will lose fans, and go bankrupt, get your head checked.:D And I don't mean that harshly.

The first 911 had bud eyed lights, the last one did too, they will always have bug eyed lights. Nothing You can do. Germans design their cars to be efficent. They do not put too much sole into them. The cars are usually more precise looking as to the Italian flair. They will just keep making minor adjustments to this philosophy.

This is the only thing that holds up porsche from being the best in the world.......styling!!!!

If they don´t come up with something good, they should just leave it as it is and call it a classic or something.
