"Volkswagen is likely to keep its Bugatti and Lamborghini brands, despite rumors of a possible sale or spin-off. Martin Winterkorn, VW's new boss, told a German newspaper research and development done at the two supercar brands can benefit the entire company.
Winterkorn told the daily Suddeutsche Zeitung that "development in the upper segments undertaken by Lamborghini and Bugatti has been advantageous for all the brands."
He also praised the technological achievements of Bugatti, which is struggling to become profitable. "A jumbo jet takes off at 250 km/h, whereas a Bugatti remains safely on the ground at 400 km/h."
A recent comment by Porsche AG CEO Wendelin Wiedeking suggested he would pressure VW to drop the brands — "no toys anymore," he said. Porsche has a large investment in VW and some board control. The sports car maker is seeking to expand that control further."

^ haha totally agree with you forza! I think it def benefits VW to be able to own 2 supercar companies. Thnk of the research and design they inherit from these two companies.

VW own Audi right? And Audi own Lamborghini (sort of). So surely if Audi and VW are putting money into it, it'll stay afloat.

I hate it when people say that, I really really do, because by saying that, you're assuming that they are both the same vehicles that are designed to do the same thing, which is wrong.
A jumbo jet takes of at 250km/h? Really? Well guess what, that's what it's designed for! I mean, it has lift-inducing wings for christ's sake, it's supposed to fly!
The Veyron stays on the ground at 400km/h? Geez, they didn't put the downforce inducing wings on it for nothing!
Yes, the Bugatti's stable at 400km/h, and that's great, good on those engineers at Bugatti, but you can't compare that fact to the fact that a plane designed to take off at the smallest speed possible can lift off the ground at a speed of 60% of the Veyron's max.
Grrr...anyway, VW is keeping Bugatti. I wonder what they have planned for it in the future, whether they'll keep it as a coachbuilder, or perhaps try to put it against the likes of Maserati.

Thank God. I really really didn't want to see Bugatti go. If this is good for VW, then hopefully they will keep the brand and keep making cars.
And I'm happy that they're keeping Lambo aswell. If I wanted my car company in safe hands, it would have to be with VAG.

wow, that really isn't amazing. If you turned the wings upside down on an airplane, It would slowly plow to china,(exageration) where as if you put the bugatti wings upside down, it would do some colourful, expensive acrobatics.
