Wow. I wouldn't mind at all if that was the new Golf, but the current design is perfect right now. The front lights, the back lights, everything.

Although, this one does look pretty good, although I do reckon the rear lights need a little bit of smoothing up.

I wouldn't mind a GTi version of one of these at all....

It will be, next year. Although it'll be very much more designed with cost in mind - i.e. it'll cost VW a lot less to make but will cost us just as much to buy. To do this, they've already said the engine range will be reduced. So, it's not all good news.

On second thoughts, I really do like the back. Won't be a fan of it if the engines go all prissy.

There was a thread about it back in late 2005 or early 2006. I may even have posted it myself... there might be some info to find there.
Anyways, I like it. A lot. The Eos front looks sexy as hell, and the rear end... the rear end looks a bit better than the current one. I could do without those small lines above the tail lights though. They make it looks aggressive as hell from behind.

i think VW would sell alot of those here in the US if they imported that, get the motor from the S3 and and the (halex) awd drive system for the gti and id be off to the bank and then the dealership

it looks good, the front reminds me of a VW concept, probably the concept R.

However, i think that the current car is just fine.

Nothing too different, just a Golf with an Eos look...anyway I found a different interpretation on the new Golf:

Yeah, I like they way they've made just enough changes so you will notice lol. It looks good in that colour too.

Not bad looking, not at all. The way they designed it definately incorporated the design of the Eos. I wonder what kind of market appeal it will have with the average consumer. The price is kind of screwed, according to R95 ALH. So I think people may be pissed with that.

Well, maybe mostly because of the rims, but there is no way VW would sell it with those. It would let down on confort, turning capability, it is just not realistic!!!. Maybe optional.....

the front looks great!!!!!, that grill is way better that the last one.

Wow that looks really hot. I like the rear lights, reminds me of the Iroq Concept's ones. Front lights look great. But hopefully this won't be extremely overpriced like the 1-Series.

alone, is that a subaru impreza headlight lol?

it looks great from the front, thuogh the headlights now makes it more like the Polo, the front is still similar to the one now, thats good, but i do prefer the headlights on the one now selling more..the rear, im not quite happy about it, it looks good, but those two lines extending out the rear and the going down window line thingy, looks horrible, well the rims looks horrible...yea, horible, large R32 rims, but allone, i like the rear of the car more than the other, loks more golfy..:p but the front of both chops are horrible, i like them though

I heard that there is gonna be no new redesigned cars from VW in the next couple of years because the new VW Group Boss Martin Winterkorn has put all new car designs on hold while syling revisions are made. That Golf does look nicer than the current model !!!

It will probably look closer to the pictures Allone posted. The other one is simply too good to be true. The Dark blue chop is still pretty cool. It kinda resemble the Golf IV, and the ugly plastic rear bumper of the Golf V is gone.

Yup, Good eye.

What gave away the first pic was a number of things, one of which would be the headlight washers...they are only under one of the headlights instead of both. Also the lines, just look at them close, they don't really even look real. All they did was take a current Golf (looks like a GTI from the seat pattern) and put an Eos front bumper and headlights on it...although they modified the grills slightly, even though it looks very much like a lot of the foglight grills on what they have out already. Same thing with the rear view, Eos tail lights and modified the bumper. If this were the next Golf....it just wouldn't make sense to me. Why would you make the next generation of one model with parts from a previous generation of another model? I guess it would be cheaper and all...and I'm no expert at this. All I know is that it really looks photoshoped.

The one I posted took headlights from a Subaru, the grill from what looks like maybe the Polo front bumper with different fog lights, wheels from the US Eos, modified Jetta tail lights. The rear bumper looks slightly different from the standard Golf GT bumper....it's color matched and has reflectors. The reflectors look pshoped...I don't know, but same thing....this can't be the next Golf, unless Subaru doesn't mind them taking the headlights that they have out on one of their current models for use on a future model from another company and VW doesn't think anyone will notice that the next generation doesn't really differ from the previous...besides the head/tail lights.

...then again, the new beetles all look very similar with only slight differences in "generations."

I heard that there is gonna be no new redesigned cars from VW in the next couple of years because the new VW Group Boss Martin Winterkorn has put all new car designs on hold while syling revisions are made. That Golf does look nicer than the current model !!!

Yeah, I read something similar. I can't find a link to the actual article, but this was posted on another forum I go to:

WOLFSBURG, Germany -- Volkswagen AG Chairman Martin Winterkorn is ordering a reworking of the design of the next VW Golf, known as the Rabbit in the United States. The changes probably will delay the planned 2008 introduction of the hatchback by up to six months.

Winterkorn thinks the design of the new Golf - done while Wolfgang Bernhard was VW brand chief - is "too progressive." In particular, Winterkorn wants to tone down the large air intakes to avoid putting off conservative Golf buyers.

Winterkorn has asked new VW group design chief Walter de' Silva to alter the design of the company's top-selling model.
The new Golf was scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2008. A high-level VW manager said the launch will be delayed "because of the design revision."
Dresdner Kleinwort automotive analyst Arndt Ellinghorst wrote in a report that VW could lose 90,000 Golf sales by delaying the launch until the third or fourth quarter of 2008.

yeah, the current Golf takes two times as long as the Focus to build did you know? and the engine range will be reduced from 10 to 13, with the 140bhp and 170bhp 1.4 TSI, 3.2 V6, 2.0 turbo etc all included. ill try and dig out the magazine i got it from and post some more info later :-k

this isnt an official picture, its a poor photoshop... i can see loads of errors; the front right and left wing are different lol look at the state of that. but i have an official picture in my Auto Express magazine that i am looking for, ill take a photo of it with my phone and submit it. its still nice, but thats a clear photoshop.
