I like the Q7 but the size of the thing really puts me off...techinically its great but I dont think I would have one...Toureg is already a bit too big for my liking....:)

The Touareg has 443 lbs-ft. The Q7 has 738, and fair bit more horsepower. I still don't really like the engine. It's too damn big. According to Swedish sources, this engine has been confirmed to the Audi R8. But that's unlikely 'cause this engine is simply too big. It only fits under the bonnet of the Q7.

It is? I mean, oh yeah it is! Damn, the VW seems like the definition of pointlessity to me then. Who would need a W12 petrol engine in an SUV?

Nobody would proabably need a V12 diesel in an SUV either, but at least it makes a little bit of sense here with Audis diesel Le mans victory.

the Q7 is really growing on me and i was just wondering if they are going to make a S7??

They've made a Q7 S-Line, and an Audi A7 is coming up to fill the gap bewteen Audi A6 and Audi A8. There will probably be made an S7 version of the A7 - just like the S3, S4, S6 and S8.

These things are pretty incredible. I saw one the other day and they do look actually pretty cool. Big, wide and long, and it has presence. This v12 model is even better, a big fat engine in a big fat fat with some lovely cosmetic work done to it...lovely jubbly.

Diesels are the way to go. This 6 L V12 diesel puts out more power than the 6L V12 in BMW's 7-series, and still has way, way more torque, not to mention it gets better fuel economy.

That's rubbish, the Q7 TDI is more handsome than this outdated, overstyled VW. [-X lol, the Q7 rules!

Wouldn't it be the QS7 or something, cos if Tom K is right, the A7 performance model would take that name... :-k

why would u want a V12 in a big 4wd car

Tom Kristensen
Feb 11, 2007, 7:32 PM
I don't know. Nobody will ever use it for heavy terrain, although the V12 TDi would probably be great for that task. I suppose it's just the Europeans being Europeans. Mercedes build 612 hp, 1000 nm cars because they can, even though neither the chassis or the majority of the target group can handle that much power.

Sorry guys, but I still don't see it, I think they are incredibly ugly. It's the way it sits, I think, it's really lumpy..I dno, it's very strange to express why I don't like it, I just don't like it overall.

I'm with you cheeky. It's ugly as, they've ruined the simple troll-ness of the V6/V8 models.

I'm still waiting for Audi to put one of it's kicka$$ diesels (preferably this one) in a sportscar. Imagine this engine in a RS4...

This particular engine only fits under the bonnet of the Q7, but Audi is working on a Carrera GT rival. Apparently A V12 diesel-powered R8, but it won't be out before 2009 - by that time Porsche will have the GT1.
