I find myself looking around for cars now as I will 17 in 2 weeks :D :D

Obviously I need cheap cheap cheap, and I was looking at the Peugeot 205 as a possibility. I have worked on a 205 a lot lately and know how they work, and seems to be reliable, despite the fact we give it a hard time :P (at motor mechanics activity at school).

I am trying to see if there is a Group B Rally kit somewhere around. So far, I only found the kit by MC Rallying, which is good, but not that great :(, I have put that as the first picture, and have also included some photos of the original car to give you an idea of what I am looking for.

All and any help would be great, I have spent quite a few hours searching, but with no luck  so I thought I would ask to see if anyone knew of one around :D
Thanks

There was a homologation run, but they are too expensive for me :(

The 205 I can get is about AUS$2,590 (£1000 some are cheaper, but in bad condition), and the GTi is about AUS$10,400 (£3,500-£4,500). and for €35,000 you can get the homologation car (see pic i put above) which is the T16!! (engine in back :D :D)

I would get the GTi, except its a 1.9 so insurance kills me, even the 1.6 is too much, so I will have to get the 1.4 :(, but hopefully it will more :) with a Grp B body kit :D

insurence is a killer, are you set on the 205 as a first car or taking sugestions?

I'd love some SENSIBLE suggestions, bearing in mind i am a big Rally car fan, so whatever it is I would like it to be able to look like the Rally car version with mods. (or the Ferrari MR2 option is cool, but the engine is a bit big and quick for first car :))

I have been looking at the Lancia Fulvia S2 1.3 V4, but to find a RHD car is much harder and more expensive!!

so any other sensible cars would be great, my budget can be strecthed if really necessary, my parents have said they can meet whatever I put in for the car, so really anything up to about UK£6,000 / AUS$15,500 (50/50 split of money with parents!) :D

Oh, and I dont want a common car, like the Corsa (Barina) or Fiesta, I want something a bit different (hence the Group B body kit )

So you actually want a Peugeot 205 1.4 with the WRC body-kit...??

no, I want a 205 T16 Grp B spec car, but I cant, so I have to make do with what I can afford.
Ideally i'd get an Elise or WR1, again I cant afford them, and I want something different, I dont want to be part of the CorsaCrew or common kid cars, I want something a bit special that I like, thats why I want to have the GroupB WRC kit, and I will be fitting it with a rollcage and racing interior (no back seats, race seats, 4-point harness etc etc) so I can take it clubmans rallying at the weekends!

nice. If i could, i'd do that with my sister's focus. It's refreshing to see a kid who doesn't want to "rice out" his car. I wish i could help.

Like I said before, definately look at a Nissan Pulsar GTiR. Although insurance would be a bit hard to get, considering it is a turbo. And the GTiR was a rally car, so no need to worry! Or maybe a Renault 5? Not one of those mid-mounted crazy buggers, but just a slightly modded R5?

As subarukid has said before, they didn't bring GTiRs to the UK . A 205 is a better bet than an R5, the t16 had something to do with the stock 205, the r5 turbo had the head lights and grill and i think its ends there similer to the normal r5

Delta turbo not available in UK in RHD, so another insurance killer, even more so with the Integrale

and as for the GTiR, the insurance is Group20, the highest category, i was quoted by footman jones insurance "we would not insure anyone under 21 years old for this car" :( I already tried, as this is an amazing car, and fantastic, even as it is only by grey import

Basically anything with an engine more than 1.5 or with the word "turbo" in it, I cannot have yet   Insurance hates my love for cars

You wanna buy a '70 car...?? I think you'll be soon regretting it, even if it is a Lotus.

maybe maybe, but I want something different, I am going to look at the Elan I mentioned above sometime in the next couple of days, so that might change my mind when I check over the car and known "Lotus Weakspots" :P

Otherwise I think its back to the 205 option  as I have looked at loads of possibilities and my Dad is putting his foot down on lots of them   all I want is a car to enjoy having, not to "just have a car".
