The spy shots are getting closer, and clearer boys. This is one of the newer shots I have gotten. It is still covered up, but you can make out more and more. The back has that aggressive "Enzo Ferrari" look which looks great. It seems to have similar tail lamps, a retractable spoiler and that "wide" look. The exhaust tips look larger and meaner also. I have seen another less covered up shot, it looks really good. The name is still anyones guess, I am still hearing 420/430M Modena, 420/430 Monza and 420/430 Fiorano. But who knows what it will be called. As far as the engine I hear a 4.2 or 4.3 liter V8, about 480 bhp. That's a sweet jump in power. Supposedly Ferrari bought a Gallardo, GT and 911 Turbo to make sure this car easily matches or beats every car in its class.

I can't wait to see this car, it will be a world beater. This is probably the most anticipated car coming out in the near future.

If these things keep getting bigger ferrari will need a new "half ferrari (v6)" to keep the "lower end" of the market. Something like a new dino, although the last new dino wasn't too appreciated

Well the Dino is very well appreciated now. It had a hard time for a while because technically it wasn't a Ferrari.

I would love to see a "smaller" V6 Ferrari. But the 360 Modena and its replacement are still "small" cars. But a more "affordable" V6 Ferrari would be nice. But I doubt it will happen.

Remember Maserati is supposed to be the "cheaper" Ferrari in some ways.

Really the 360 is contiuning the dino (if you count the 308 worthy of the badge)

Well not really, the 308 was the first V8, mid-engined production road Ferrari. :-)

Im talking about the second gen dino, a car most people think as a proper dino worthy of the badge, sorry about the mix up

except a so-called "affordable" ferrari will still cost like 80k+. still i'd like to see the performance of a modern ferrari v6, that would be interesting.

what were the expected release dates of the modena successor? looks like it's coming along nicely.

Hey Blucam,
Remember I said hi on another forum, and that had the pic of the car in the factory (bad quality though) but looking good all the same, do you know how much change has been made to that? It looked pretty cool, and I heard it had been posted here on SCF, but I never saw it on here.
And there are no new pics of the car (uncovered), so I was just wondering if you knew anymore on that... 8)

Seems like Ferrari will set the standards with the 360 replacement.
Until Porsche overcomes them. :D lol

As Porsche says, "there will always be a 911 turbo while Ferrari exists" :P

From what I have read it will make its public debut later this year as a 2005 model year car.

Porsche is a step below Ferrari. Plus the rear-engined layout of the 911 just isn't as good as a mid-engined set-up. Porsche's biggest problem is their crappy, cheap interiors. Even the 997 still looks cheap to me, and Evo mag in the UK said it still looks cheap as well. Now look inside a Ferrari, that's a quality interior. :-)

Rear engine is great for insane acelaration but bad oversteer which they manage to sort out when the brought out the 993. Ferraris have always gone for simple and functional where as nowadays porsche is aiming for class but with cheap plastics is just producing crap (although i do love the lap timer on the dash)

IMO i always thought interiors of porsche's were better than ferrari's; and yeah.. the porsche really does do good in acceleration and straight line performance compared to the ferrari...saw this best motoring video with 996 turbo vs. 360 modena.. 360 about .11 secs slower.. not bad.. but when this 420 modena comes out... it would easily kill the porsche straight line or not

but i wouldn't be suprised once porsche tries to trounce ferrari again

The thing is when it comes out it will be on a higher plane thanks to a large jump in engine size, thats why they need to introduce a v6

How can you possibly think a Porsche has a nicer interior then a Ferrari dude? Have you seen them close up? The Porsche is cheap crap, the Ferrari is all leather, aluminum and high quality materials! Also the 911 Turbo, even with more bhp then the 360 Modena is not always quicker on a track then the 360 Modena, Motor Trend and Auto Week got MUCH better times in the Ferrari and said the Ferrari was easier to drive quickly. Not to mention the Porsche sounds crappy lol.

I can agree with nearly all of what you said EXCEPT this ^^^^
whats wrong with you, I would rather the sound of the Porsche over the whiny 360 ferrari anyday.
I guess you are referring to the Turbo, but having done a trackday with about 50 Porsche's, our car (the 996 Carrera 4S) was the best sounding there, and truely beautiful. The turbo is not as good as that, but still low and great, not all high and whiny like a 360 engine.

Well he can like whatever he wants. I can tell you this, if you asked real car enthusists what they prefer, a boxer 6 or a flat plane crankshaft V8 at 7000 rpms they sure as hell wont be picking the Porsche engine. Anyone who says a Ferrari V8 sounds "whiny" IMO hasn't really heard one. In Autocar magazine it was voted best sounding engine. Also the car mags ALWAYS say how great a Ferrari sounds, you don't hear that about a Porsche.... :-)

I don't agree with the "whiny" statement as well.
I have to hear both of them in one room to make a decision

well.. the porsche has all these features like nav system.. phone and all; so i guess you could say it's more luxurious at least.... kind of a comfort car compared to the modena... but yeah.. i'd agree with the modena being quicker than the 911 the very large majority of the time

i wouldn't say the porsche sounds crappy (maybe the turbo; yeah) but i know by experience.. the modena sounds AMAZING absolutely AMAZING

Ok, maybe those ferraris I heard going up the test hill at max revs were dodgy engines?
But I do know that I never attacked BluCams opinion, merley putting forward my thought of his strong statement that Porsches sound crap.
And I also dont agree about the "true car enthusiast", what is a "true car enthusiast", people have different preferences, which is why some people will buy the porsche and not the ferrari or the other way round (when money is no problem). If every "true car enthusiast" only liked the Ferrari engine, then every sports car would have that engine, but since all "true car enthusiasts" are different in their opinions then thats why we have variety, and you cant base all your judgments on a couple of magazines, they are written by people who also have opinions, and get to drive the cars to the limits etc etc which will make a difference as well.

Very almost dark_hunter, i just have one last thing I would like to add, then i'm done :P
BluCam, I never tried to change your opinion or deny that you had experience of both or either car, I was merley saying to you what everyone is getting at me for, because apparently I was trying to change you opinion or something :? all I was saying was that the 911 does not sound crappy, and I agree maybe I went a bit far with saying its better, but as you say, its down to personal tastes, I prefer the lower grunt of an engine than a ""higher"" sound (note i did not say whine). Ironically however I prefer the sound of the 355 to the 360, dont ask me why, I just do :? :? :P
