BMW is now preparing the launch of the sporty M5 wagon version in May 2007. Like the M5 sedan, the car is equipped with a 5,0 litre V 10 engine delivering 400 HP.
The photos are showing an undisguised test car on the road in Munich and at Nürburgring.
Sorry I can't post pictures, theres some copyright protection thing on them.
So i'll do some Prt Scrn's to show you them.
EDIT: No more pictures so SCF doesn't get sued. Heres the link though:

so now they have friggen copyrights...
thats well, a M5 hatchback with less camo...but it looks good on the front, but id say the car is abit too long, the rear is as usual, ugly, i dont like 5 series hatchback rears, only for this series, and only with this Ewhatever its called version....
well i would like to see it, cause the previous M5 hatchback was rare, also, i think there was a E46 M3 hatchback right?

i dont think there was robbie, i dont like the back, but front is nice, but why is it delivering 400bhp and not 500bhp?
car lover !!
Jan 03, 2007, 7:27 AM
I just know there is a touring version of E46 3-series.. I didn't know that there is a M3 Touring..
This car looks awesome.. it even look better without black colour things on the bodykit. Like the rear light.. I'm starting to feel I want one!

I better get rid of those pictures. They have copyright protection and SCF could get sued. I'll post the link to the WCF article though.

The E34 M5 was available as a touring model
http://www.authen.no/pics/bmw-m5-touring-1992-2.jpg
The E39 wasn't avaliable as a touring but theres a few custom models flying about, I think theres one real one off model that was made for someone who works for M teck in germany.
The E60 touring will be the first since the E34, I'm not sure if there was any other M touring models. At the same time the E34 touring was around, so was the E36 4 door, and apparently there will be an E92 4 door along with this E60 M5 touring. :)

But this M5 wagon will have as rivals the RS6 Avant (450hp) and the E63 AMG estate (476hp), so I think 400hp it's a little disadvantatge in comparison with that rivals

It'll probably have the same engine with its 507hp capability using the M mode, so its not like its gona be underpowered, the E34 M5 and M5 touring had the same engine. Plus Audi haven't even released a new RS6 yet, and the E63 weighs alot. Not too fond of the rear lights on this but it'll probably grow on me, most the estate models cept maybe the RS' look a bit weird so it doesn't matter too much.

It's kinda cool. They need it against Mercedes, but on the other hand I feel it's a disgrace to the M badge. Then again, I think every new car rolling of the assembly lines these days are to shame for the specific manufacturer, so I guess it's alright.

^They've been testing it on Nürburgring for years, but for some reason they haven't started producing it yet.
Maybe it won't even make it to production! That'd be cool. Not because I hate the car or anything, it's just wrong to make an M5 estate in my opinion.

yeah, it seems to ruin the M5's image to me. If they want to make a hot STW they should name it another name.
just my opinion :-k

lol, haha, I once saw an older M5 series touring car, and immediatley proclaimed that they'd just stuck the badge on, because who's ever gonna need a fast estate car? lol
I was about 7?

I'll still take an RS4 Avant over this one. The back looks ten times better, has tons of loadspace, goes like friggin' stink, and has a proper 4WD system.
I still wouldn't mind one of these in black though! :p

Sometimes you have to make wagons be able to do stuff too. Soccermoms will be happy to see the news

LoL soccer moms

Jan 03, 2007, 1:10 PM
Lol, soccermoms don't care about performance. It's just pointless really. I understand why Adui are making perforamnce wagons. They have a history thanks to the RS2, and they usually look better than the sedan versions.

Jan 03, 2007, 1:31 PM
that is true tom k, both things you said. soccermoms just care that the car runs fine. unless there awesome and actually know something about cars, but that wouldn't make them a soccer mom. it would make them a awesome mom.
(i know that sucked)

I don't like it in the "touring" form (maybe because i don't like touring/estate/wagon generaly )...... the Sedan is much Better.

It delievers 400hp in its standard, well, if you can call it standard mode, but then delievers full 507hp whack in M mode, does other stuff like quicker changes and lowers itself slightly.

i don't think there is anything different to an ordinary 5 series estate apart from the twin exhausts and wheels. it isn't gonna sell very well.

Yep, Audi defernetly rule in that sector of the market. I looooove their S and RS estate models.
This is gonna be a pretty nice machine though. IMO the 5 series estate is one of the best looking wagons ever made, so with a "few" more horsepower and a more agressive bodykit it should be even better !

I really like the M5, but I can't stand the fact that the M-package you can get for the 5-serie looks exactly the same from the front. I see thousands of 5-series driving around with that package.
The first picture, on top of the article, it looks just like any other 5-series estate with m-package.
Making the M5 stand out, and then bring the normal 5 series to the same level with a M-package is just plain stupid
