i like it, but what happened to the boot?

I saw that on another board. I really hope that is just a chop. If that's real, then it's by far the worst M3 of all time. Styling looks like something out of Japan. Lexus perhaps. I didn't like where BMW had been heading, but now it seems to have hit rock bottom. Once again, I really hope that's an aweful chop. The tail lights are just wrong.

Front looks great but the side profile and rear just scream utterly boring.

Most definitely, the front isn't bad though at all. And I still can't believe (and it was mentioned in the first post) that they want M6 money for the new M3. That's gotta be a typo. Can anyone clarify that??

If I had the money; I would pay for an M3 (how much does it WEIGH?) over a FATBURRO M6. Pics look like a chopped Z4 "coupe".

It seems to get worse the further back you go as Thlam suggests.

As for the price I read £48,000, which translates to about $94,000 using a £/$ ratio of 1.95 (approx). However car prices are cheaper in America as far as I understand. A M6 in England or the UK would be £80,000 (approx) and a M5 would be £60,000 (approx), so the M3 would be cheaper than both the M5 and M6. Hope this helps.

EDIT: I have had a look at the prices and the M6 is £81,760 and the M5 £63,495, according to BMWs website although I am sure you can spend more money if you want certain options etc.

Prices are for UK...... Price of an E46 M3 in UK is around 38,000 pounds but the same car costs 55,000 dollars in US. So don't convert pounds to dollars and assume that it will be its list price in US

Correct.
I think it will be around 60-$65K here in the states

mmm, finally, some more news on it..

well the front looks great, love it alot, similar to the 3 series M-package bodykit, but this looks great, looks very agressive on the 1st pic on that website....well the side is still similar, though the front bumper has that sharp buldge thing that i dont qutie like, that back is fugly!!id get the stock bumper and change it off the M3...

Jan 01, 2007, 8:44 AM
they are mostly chop, because that rear is just fugly

and i hope its not in those rims like in the silver one, otherwise, it looks pretty good

M3_GTR
Jan 01, 2007, 8:49 AM
yeh, rims are small, and not what the M3 should have.. i think they're not gonan be on the realy M3, because they dont want people knowing they're driving a M3, yet!

Robbie
Jan 01, 2007, 8:51 AM
well they used those fugly BBS rims, and now they use these M-sport rims similar from the M package of the new 3 series

Rear end of it just looks.........bulbous. This new M3 is just all techno techno techno, the last gen one was a proper M3, not it's all gadgets and gizmos.

The other one actually looked proper aswell, and with the optional rims like on the M3 GTR it was one of the best looking cars on sale.

BMW need to get their asses into gear and show this goddamn car because it's just getting annoying.

It better wipe the floor with the competition aswell.

@M3_GTR, those shots of the M3 actually look quite good.

That's why I think it's taking so bloody long to develop. There either trying to squeeze more horsies out of the engine, which I doubt, or trying to make the chassis as good as the one in the RS4. Considering this is a coupe, the chassis should be better, but we've yet to see that yet.

I really like the look of this car. The front end looks very agressive, and suits the "personality" of the car. And as for the rear end of this thing, I don't think it looks too bad. Although compared to the front end, it looks bland...boring even. As for the price I think it's outragous. I was hoping it would be atleast close to the previous gen M3 price wise, although this is just too much.

omfg what in gods name happened to the rear end

its a really nice car over all, front end, side, and probably interior, but that rear end is just really suprising. errrr

Doesn't really look good.. I still like the E46 more.
Its too much for 94,000.
I rather get the M6 instead which is a lot faster and better looking that this E92.

EDIT
After a saw M3 GTR's spy shots, I think its quite good. Thats what a M car need but the price is still a problem.
