WEll, i was never really a fan of the boxster, it was always the "i want the badge car", and then someone made a thread about it, and that got me wondering, i was thinking maybe its not so bad, so i researched it, and read about it, watched videos about it, and liked it more and more, and then TODAY, we went petrol station(has everyone noticed everything good to me happens at the petrol station!?), and then a porsche boxster came, and was filling up his car, i was looking at it, and i purposely made it obvious, so the guy would talk to me, lol, and he did, we started talking about it, and then he opened the door and said, "here, take a look inside" and then i got inside, abit more then look, lol, and that thing was amazing, for bottom of the range, cheapest new porsche, it felt awesome in there, everything was right, and then he opened the boot, which is his engine, and i had a orgasm, im talking, its a masterpiece, it sounds great and looks even better, but abit squashy! I didnt get any pictures, becuase i felt funny taking pictures of it while he was there, but i got other pictures of other cars to post up later on!

So we drove off, were waiting at the lights, and then were turning left, and his turning right, and i just wave, and he smiled, then when the light went green, he revved up his boxster and smoked them up, and drove off, and that thing went, but the sound it made, and the guy was a good driver to, like he had perfect control of the car while he was sliding, i loved it, the boxster is one hell of a car, i take back anything i said about it, i love it, it the boxster is like that, the 911's must be like heaven!

GO porsche!

its a Boxster 987 ;) :p
thought i'd mention it before people make a big deal about that!

as for the Boxster, never driven it, but i'm still not a fan of it :-k

Edit - but does sound like you had a good experience, and sometimes the Boxster can sound good... so maybe its not all so bad :p

I used to hate the Boxster when I was a narrow minded little gimp. But it's actually a very good car, fast and handles ever so well from what I've read. Of course some people will not like it, but when people slate it just because of what Clarkson says, it annoys me.

, and then he opened the boot, which is his engine, !

Isn't it a mid-engine car ? i mean you can't see the engine if you open the boot , it is for luggage , also the trunk ......i don't know how to explain it , but the Boxster's engine is not in front (you can't open the boot and find an engine , and also you can't open the back/trunk and find an engine. i don't know if i put it clearly ) .. so idon't know how did you see the engine when he opened the boot ...

Good to see you have come over to the smart side :D I love those cars, although I would expect a good interior because its not exactly cheap.

And I think you were talking about my thread.

I never got why people called it "girly." It is just an incredible machine. And talk about bang for your buck. You can pick up a late 90's 986 for well under $20,000. It's pretty much the best car in it's class. Not too bad for an entry level vehicle. That was really nice of the owner to let you have a good look like that.

When you open the the back, you see I believe the engine oil filler and maybe coolant filler. It is for luggage. Just the same as the front. So you are correct in thinking that. I honestly don't know on a Boxster what you do to see the engine.:o

apparently you can see it if you remove the boot lining, thats what my friend told me, his dad had a 986 a few years ago... or you could look underneathe i guess... unless they have an undertray :p

^^ only the engineers and the mechanics are able to enter or to examine the mid-rear engine of the boxster or even to see it, so we can't see the engine if we opened the boot or the trunk. I don't know how "M3 GTR" saw it lol , i guess we have to wait for his response ...

I thought it might be something like that, but it would have to be insulated pretty well to keep the heat off your groceries or whatever else you put back there. I always wondered, and could never fine pix on the internet. Learn something new everyday.

koenig, that makes no sense at all. its sound slike your calling both the porsche boxter and the koenigsegg "girly" and yet, if you consider your user name, i dont belive you would ever do that...

I think boxsters are good, especially if you have the "S" i think if your a porsche fan who can't afford a new 911 but can splurge for the "S" you should do it. My mom has driven a boxster S, and she liked it, its a very fun car, and i don't see anything wrong with owning one.

A lot of people say the Boxster is the poor mans 911, but its still a porsche, and still more expensive than your normal car.

car lover !!
Dec 28, 2006, 10:08 PM
I like the Boxster. Its a dream car.. I couldn't really afford one myself. I've seen quite a number of them but I'm not as lucky as you do.

I can hardly find any friendly Porsche owners in Malaysia.
Porsches are great.. no doubt they are, I actually prefer the Boxster or Cayman over the Carrera. As you said, Carrera might be even better but for me, Cayman or the Boxster is already more than enough.

The Boxster owns the 911, we just don't want to belive it. it handles better than the 911, and in this neck of the woods it's also rarer. I've only seen one Boxster in real life. I remember running up the slide of the playground at McDonalds to get a better view of it!

well, this is what happened, to show me the engine, he took there clips of the lfet and hide, and the covering moved over to the right, then there was some cardboard that he pulled out, and tata, an engine. i think thats what he done...

You are both wrong , Nothing owns the 911. ;)
Sure the Cayman S and the Boxster S are awesome cars ,I would love to own any of them , but i still prefer the 911 , and that won't change.

I'd take a 911 over a Cayman and a Boxster as well, but I think the 911 would get cheesed by its mid-engined little sisters on a track.

yup and for the boot thing, only mechanics with like special tools and screwdrivers and stuff can open and inspect the engine for maintentance, at least thats what the salesman told me
i guess thats why you see less boxters and caymans with engine mods, its just such a hassle to get too

I thought it was supposed to be 100% different from the old one... The 987 uses a new chassis, right? 'Cause if not, then they had a hell of a car in the 986 considering the Cayman is also built on the Boxster platform.

You're sarcasm is not in it's place . why ? because i didn't meant that they are the same in term of chassi , looks , engine power etc...... i meant that all the boxster's engine is unable to be seen by us , since the 1997 boxster till now .... they all have the same engine position .
M3 GTR said :" i didn't look very hard , maybe that was the other boxster ? " , and i replied that " all boxsters are the same , since 1997 till now" ... the meaning of my reply is to tell him that even if it was the old Boxster , he couldn't also see the engine . capiche ?

And in this case i have a question to M3 GTR . I thought that you loved that boxster and you were very excited when you saw it , well how couldn't you tell if it was the old or the new boxster ? :-k

For an entry level porsche and for your own info..:
The boxster does 60 in 5.8 while the S does it in 5.2 :o

Yea, I'm a troll but I know when I stand corrected. It's 5.9 for the 0-60 and you're right about the S doing 5.2.

Did you know that the Boxster can rip through a slalom faster than an Enzo? And it's about the best car in it's class. It's not built to be a 9 second hot rod. It's built for twisties, and until you drive one, you probably won't get it if you aren't a fan.

i want to see GT3 versions of the Boxter and Cayman. that would be sweeeeeeeeeeeet.

but yeah, i always liked the Boxter for what it is. i always knew it was a really well balanced car with good handling, but for the money, i think there are other cars i'd rather buy.

I have a question. What class does the Boxster compete in? It's a lot more expensive than the 350Z roadster, S2000, Audi TT, Solstice GXP, MX-5 and company. I think it's an awesome car, but I also think it's in a class of its own with nothing to really compare it to because it is really, really expensive.

TWIN TURBO
Jan 15, 2007, 10:03 PM
it is roadester so it actually competes with those cars + the Z4 and the SLK.

there is a comparo between a SLK 55AMG and the boxster S ( Motor trend i guess).. and guess who won? :p
