anyone seen it much better lookin than stock ford 'stang and 25hp power boost!!!!!!even more fun, also nice scoop on the bonnet

Yeah, but it's also nearly double the price. It's still pretty cheap considering it's power, but it's a disgrace to the Shebly name in my opinion.

if money isnt a problem, why, of all cars, would you buy a Ford Mustang? itd be a Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Porsche, Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc... not a ford, i think :-k

I think the answer would probably depend on whether you alread have any of the others....:D
Truth be told I would buy a Ford before I bought a Jaguar....:)

incredible... :|
My reasoning is simple, nothing in the current jag range appeals to me and the jag has so many Ford components you might as well be buying a ford....:D
XKR isnt bad though I must say....

I'd take a Ford over a Jaguar as well - Especially the GT500. Jaguar doesn't have a single car to compete with it, and it's much cooler because of the way it's built; like a muscle car.

I'd have a Jaguar XKR thanks, it would handle alot sweater and is better made.

I guess you are right. I think the Daytona Coupe is probably better than GT500 though.. I couldn't really say that it is a shame to Shelby.. I've never driven it before but I think that is a beast. 500bhp is a lot.
Tom Kristensen
Dec 25, 2006, 5:16 PM
Yeah of course it's a beast, but I agree with you about the Daytona... I just think the GT500 a bit too boring and normal to be a Shelby.

Even if money was no object, you would still be wasting a whole bunch of money on a car with mediocre output gains. I would rather get a stock GT and hit the aftermarket, and for the price difference I would be able to get way more power out of that V8 than what the GT500 is producing, stick a couple of stripes and buy a hood with a scoop and there I have it.

I thought GM already confirmed that they are making a supercharged corvette variant, As to it being named the blue devil that was a picture of a blue Z06 with different rims running around the ring.

I'm with you dudes! If money was no object I'd get an old Shelby Mustang over all those cheesy european exotics.
A Ferrari is built to go fast around corners. The five-way traction control and F1 gear of an F430 is designed to provide huge amounts of grip and speed - way more grip and speed than any of us would ever have the balls to explore.
A muscle car, on the other hand, is built not to go around corners. So its abilities matches our own abilites... that makes us feel herotic and manly as we wrestle to keep the rear-end on the road while going 5 mph! So, a Ferrari owns a GT500 when it comes to perforamnce, but the GT500 leaves the Ferrari in the dust when it comes to driving pleasure.
I thought GM already confirmed that they are making a supercharged corvette variant, As to it being named the blue devil that was a picture of a blue Z06 with different rims running around the ring.Whuh... maybe. I've been living under a rock for 16 years. Well, I've heard they would be making a supercharged vette, but I never knew it would get the Blue Devil name

I take it you have not seen that this show is kind of a sore subject with the American car crowd.
A good friend of mine got on the order list for a 2007 shelby GT500. He has a 67 mustang ragtop (it is curently stored in my garage), and really wanted the 07 done in the same colors as his old one.
I will reserve judgement until I have had a chance to try it out

there's no Blue Devil. it was just a regular Z06 with the new blue color and black rims. i have seen the Z06 not in blue but in red with the black rims in a dealership here in PR.

I love the show and sometimes it ticks me off with the way they judge muscle (by the way it handles). Usually though they'll talk about the stangs shortcoming (live rear axle) then say how much they love it for what it is and how it wouldnt be a stang without the lra. The thing about the shelby is that it's more comfortable on a drag strip while the stage 3 is more comfortable around corners while maintaining its muscle car status. With all that bieng said though, I personally would take the snake. Just my style.

The GT500 is a great car, but for the money I'll stick with my SRT. And that's what we're talking about here, roughly equal money to money. The 'Stang has more HP, so with even driving it will win. But, unfortunately, it looks like every other Mustang out there, which means it looks like about 10% of the cars currently on US roads.
Only 5000 of mine made this year. AND mine has heated leather seats, traction control, etc!

I cant agree, you obviously havent driven a 430 because there is no way a Mustang can get anywhere close to providing the same driving pleasure......:D

I've never really driven a car to be honest with you... I just have an idea that muscle cars, in short, aren't as fast as Ferraris... But they're just as exciting. But maybe I've just been watching too much Gone in 60 Seconds and too little Top Gear, but I think most enthusiast will agree that modern Ferraris have lost the passion that they used to have. Ferraris these days are more of a computer than a sportscar. They are so technologically advanced it's not even funny.

The GT3 is alright, but it's coming to an end. The new GT3 has traction control and a few other electronic nannies, and it costs two hundred and elevnty billion dollars compared to a muscle car. This obviously depends on which kind of muscle car it is... but yeah.

will you believe me if i tould you that i know i guy in a local forum with an 86 GT that costed him 4,000$ and he inverted no more than 5,000$ more and is runing low 10s and even reach more than 150mph? Once i was side by side at 140mph in my car and he passed me like if i was completly stop. That's the power Muscle car can have.
Edit: And with no forced induction of any kind. ALL MOTOR

Apparently the 911 will be replaced by a mid-engined V8-powered car in 2013. It will probably still be called 911 though, but that just seems wrong in my eyes. The automtive world is going to sh*t!

The problem with the IRS in the mustangs is that the engine produses too much torque. The engine can shatter the CV joints on the axel shafts especiallf if someone starts swapping pullys. The options were to make a less agressive torque curve, or change the rear end. I am sure ford will come up with a better design in the future, but for now the GT500 is a torque monster with some of the characteristics of the old muscle cars
That is the reason I like it so much....If you are interested in mustang info you should PM Slowfiveoh. He is our "mustang guy" on this forum, and really knows what he is talking about

You are right about muscle cars not being as fast, but they are quicker. The acceleration characteristics are totally different. Muscle cars have a more powerful feel because of their lack of sophistication. The sensation of hearing a monster V8, seeing the tach hit 4,500 in third gear, smelling the tire smoke, and knowing that you have moved no more than 60 feet since you put it in first, and dropped the clutch (damn, I miss my old camaro) can not be experienced in a ferrari.

and will never be. American muscle cars are unique. Only Australian cars resemble them.

2007 Shelby GT
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/08/07fordshelbygt_01_450b.jpg
Besides the stripes, scoops and wheels it also comes with:
Power Upgrade Package (325hp)
Handling Package
Short Throw Shifter
Race Brake Pads
Performance X-Pipe w/cats
Cat Back Exhaust System
And it's actually build at the Shelby factory (unlike the GT500) in Las Vagas, NV. MSRP should be somewhere around $33-35,000.

Actually, I was talking about the GT500 in comparison to the SRT. The Shelby (and regular Mustang) GT simply do not measure up. The Ford GT supercar, on the other hand, is a completely different animal.
