While DaimlerChrysler has already launched a restyled Mercedes E Class, BMW ‘s facelifted 5-Series and M5 are scheduled for released in spring 2007.
Here are the first photos showing undisguised prototypes of the facelifted 5-Series during a test drive in Munich. The first photo is showing the remodeled M5 with different air intakes in the front skirt, different headlights and upgraded dashboard and interior design. The standard 5-series is also getting new air intakes in the front skirt, a smoother rear skirt and a new automatic shift lever.
The photos are showing one M5 and various prototypes of the restyled standard 5-Series. The two shots of the interior and dashboard are from our files.

Meh, the exterior is crap, doesn't look as aggressive as the previous model, interior is great though, that gearstick is really nice.

Slap me silly and call me a noob, but I really don't see much of a "facelift" over the last car, the steering wheel may be different I guess.
Yes, I am lazy to google some pics of the current design.

Urmm... Read the text, it explains the differences.

i dont actually see any difference in the headlights...the dash does look different, but still similar to the old one, i could see the exterior upgrades, similar to those on the 335ci, but that M5 is just hte M-package...that gear knob dosent look good to grab on...

hope they tune down the skirts and spoilers on the m5 a bit, It's to flash for me. the older one's were a little more lowprofile, I liked that, next year you can get a manual gearbox in the M5 to btw.

looks good, the new X5 will have the same gear stick as that, its electronic, but my dads been reading about it, you push 'P' to park, the button 'P' is ontop of the gearstick, and you just nudge the gear stick to chose which gear you want, i think its the future of gearboxes!

looks quite complicated, but it may look good...there was another thing about the spy shots of the M5 wagons long time ago wit this gearbox, which is quite weird...

Woah, the new mouth makes it look like a 7 series which looks like a W220 S Class. I quite like it. It looks a bit more Mercedes-ish.

Don't like it.
This generation if 5 is the best IMO. Now it's just ruining something what was beautiful. The front looks way too much like a 3, but maybe because it has 3 rims, but the 3 and 5 are in different classes.
And tell me why they needed to change the front intakes? Why change the front? What was wrong with it? That's one of the things that I don't get nowadays. if your car is selling like a b*tch with its ass on fire and everyone loves it, like it's the default choice to get a car, why the hell change it?
The 206 needed to be changed into the 207 because it was getting dated and the competition was pulling ahead. What's the point in doing this to BMWs? I mean come on, lets face it, BMW are leagues ahead of anything any other company can offer. I just don't understand changing it.
There's nothing wrong with it in the first place.

It's subtle changes, they don't make much difference as far as I can see. I'm sure it will look good in the end..

looks more like a nose job rather than a "face"lift.i guess it won't make much of a difference.ppl won't go crazy or throw away their cars and buy this...jus coz sumthing has changed, which i am sure they won't be able to spot.

At least it's got a hell of a shifter knob. It looks like a joystick!

I'm hearding you, that wood does not suit a BMW.
If it aint broke, don't fix it.

that wood, does suit on some of them, though not on this 5 series, i think, looks great on our E36 and E46 BMWs, though i would really prefer that metallic look, silver trims on out car, but, it still looks great

Spot the welshman.
Dammit, I always make tiny mistakes and they turn out to be quite big ones infact, but anyway that was quite clever, did make me crack a smile. :)
But I'm not Welsh, moved here when I was 2, I was born where Jamesy was, but I do feel quite Welsh, acquried a slight Welsh accent, seen Welsh football and ruby teams numerous times, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty it's England all the way.

The first picture is not an M5. It is a 5-series with an M-Sport kit. Look at the mirrors...
I can see the difference mainly in the lights.

Meh, I can't say it's much of an improvment, they haven't got rid of the "flame-surfacing" yet, so I'm still not happy. They did a little bit to the front and rear facsia, and to tell you the truth that and the ****-knob are the only two things that are noticable. Hey, atleast they tried to make it looks better.

It looks lame. The bumper looks screwed (off of the Msport) and the standard bumper looks screwed again. Is BMW saying the 3 series looks awsome and want their cars too all look cheap...Bland...overly weird bumps and stuff on their cars... then that is sad. Compare the A4 with the 3series. The audi looks crisp and smooth. Thats how BMW should design their cars. BMW is just... ugly now. I thought they would be M5, but loved the 3 series instead
??? I think i saw small changes...??? so confused now
