Dortmund-based small-series manufacturer 9ff has created this decidely different Cayman. Elegant, aerodynamically efficient and with increased precision this two-seater hits on all fronts: lightweight disc wheels with patented central mounting through to the add-on parts, some of which are made from carbon fibre.

But the real highlight of the 9ff CR-42 mid-engine sports car kept under wraps: a 4.1-litre Boxer engine featuring an impressive 420 bhp and a powerful 435 Nm torque. This engine enables the vehicle to achieve breathtaking driving performance and superior power development that blow all the benchmarks in this segment out of the water.

The 9ff Cayman can achieve that all-important sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, and around just 10 seconds later the CR-42 even reaches the 200 km/h mark.

These performance statistics make the 9ff CR-42 a high-performance sports car, boasting an excellent power-to-weight ratio and extreme driving performance, that is ideal for everyday use.

The CR-42 costs a total of EUR 129,000.00 incl. VAT and is available now in small series. All individual components are available for sale separately.

another tuned porsche. lost intressed in tuned porsches some time a go. about every week a new one comes along. I'm not a fan of the cayman. for me it's just a boxster with a 911 roof. that doesn't make it a bad car, but for me just not a car I would buy. like the collor though, porsches look good in white.

sorry i didn't know but anyway, i like this tuned porsche for one reason. Porsche didn't give the cayman sufficent powerfor one reason, they are afraid that it will cut into the sales of the carrera. it has a mid-engine which means a better weight distrubition and a chasis that can handle a lot of power.
i really think that this is the only porsche that really needed this tunning...& i quite like it.

this is a not a repost bec i want to discuss whether a powerful cayman will end the carrera's dominancy or not, all you talked about in the similar thread was the white rims..

i doesn't look right at the back without the spoiler and the rims don't help the look.

i like the back..front is err..weird.the rims r ooooldish.but i reckon it's churning out some serious performance figures.

Wow, the back view is awesome. I'm finally starting to understand 9ff rims and they're looking pretty good to me. I love the performance aswell.

I don't think it's ''yet another tuned Porsche'', I think it's a work of art.

Anyone who hates these rims probably doesn't appreciate the discipline of aerodynamics! (...well they are supposed to reduce drag, right?)

I'm not too keen about those brake ducts, but I suppose those wheels would fry the brakes otherwise.

why are all tuning cars by 9ff and techart and things nice nice nice then the wheels are bolocks
its sort of like a trait of tuning companies
nice car shame about the rims

I love the rims. It looks like something from a WRC or a Group C car, only more modern and sleek. The color makes them look really tasty!

The rims are horribles and the car is ugly

Its....OK...though the rims dont really cut it for me...isnt this kinda' old?

zeyk
Dec 15, 2006, 5:39 AM
@tom k....sure those rims r to cut aero drag.but with only 420 bhp it exactly isn't running for the world speed record.other cars in the same class have normal rims ..why put em on this one then?or maybe they wanted to make a track whore with max aero efficiency and balanced power to wt ratio.

Yeah i dont think that the rims would really reduce much drag, but I think the car looks nice, but the rims could be changed and not white.

well kind of, but that thing that buldges out of the middle dosent look that much aerodynamic to me, but ill take those rims, but not on this car...

It's the iconic Porsche racing look, and I absolutely love it. You guys need to open your minds once and a while. Perhaps some of you should read a book and find out where these people got their inspiration from.

Rims look good... The car is good... I agree with the point that they didn't make it powerfull enough because they were afraid it might affect the Carrera sales... But shouldn't they reconsider a general rise to all of Porsche's models power?

May be, but the carrera is the porsche's iconic car. it is their favorite and the one with the biggest history, it is like their spoiled kid whom they kept developing for over 40 years.

Yes but this will give no point to making the Cayman... It is like they've made it just for the looks!!! With no good engine...
On the other hand it might be considered as the "affordable" carrera dream to the ones with not enough $$$$....

Those of this Cayman will, on the contrary, raise some cooling issues.

Who knows. My point is that the wheels on this Cayman were probably inspired by the 956.
