Quote:
After months of rumors, Jaguar has made it official: its new sports sedan will be called the Jaguar XF and it will make its public bow next fall, most likely at the 2007 Frankfurt motor show. The rise of the XF means the fall of the S-Type sedan in the automaker’s model lineup.

XF is being designed and developed at Jaguar's product center mothership in Coventry, England, and is scheduled to be built at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich facility in Birmingham, England.

Jaguar officials are boasting that XF will take the struggling brand in new directions, let’s hope that doesn’t mean another downward one. One thing is clear, it will be a different path than taken with S-Type (pictured), a solid vehicle that found little traction in the mid-size luxury segment and was arguably too conservative in its Jaguar heritage style.

Deliveries of the new Jaguar XF are expected by the spring of 2008, no word yet if the U.S. will be one of the first markets to get the new vehicle.

the front i ugllyyy.. looks really ugly, they tried to copy the Alfa Romeo grill, they failed, but the back is like every other XK out there, which is a good thing, looks nice.. but i doubt ut will look alot like that.. the updated model is coming in a few months isnt it?

Its a repost if I'm not mistaken.
Frankly, I prefer this one more than the S-Type if it looks like those photos. The new S-Type is just not my cup of tea.

XF won't help Jag much if it looks like that...

I don't think it looks too bad. Although it defo has some typical Jaguar styling characteristics, it's taking a step in a new direction, and it seems to be more boldly styled. If this can be a seller, than it could help Jaguar get a little further out of the hole, and it would bring some goodness back to it's name.

I got it from another forum. the pics are impressions i think, and hopefully a verry bad one. the front has the Grill of the S-type, which is the biggest fault on that car IMO.
sorry if it's a repost. I haven't seen it round here before so.

It doesn't look too good imo. I hope it will look more like this one:

It's an old cocnept, I think.

Those chops look really bad, but it's said to look really bad, so there might be some truth in those pictures!

I found it on automobile mag website and i think it's not xf but another one of great jaguar concept cars that never goes into production.

That's a photoshop...and it doesn't look very Jaguar-ish. It looks more like a 2010 Kia Magentis.

The engine ranges will be the best part about this car, because they will probably have good power, torque and refinement.

Interiors will be nice too, if the XK was anything to go by.

I'm still not convinced on the name though. XF sounds a little.....rusty. The only name suitable for this one is XS, that sounds upmarket and premium.

Well, one thing's for sure. It won't look like that. After all, it will be designed by Ian Callum - a man in whose ability I have utter confidence. Personally, I think the current one looks good too, though.

Ew, It will probably look even worse then. I'd hoped the design would reflect the E Type with some sort of oval grill.

That would be nice. With regards to 'rectangular', I think frewin means something along the lines of the grille of the XJ, as opposed to actually a rectangle. So it may not be so bad as it sounds.

It's already got the XK bottom, might as well have the face to go with. Do a rapide before Aston get to it.

The concept posted before was the RD-6, which was reallllly nice.

it's not that bad. the rear is typical XK which is ok and the front grill is acceptable, i think it's a leap forward from the S-type.

But how many will Jag sell?

Robbie
Dec 13, 2006, 6:31 AM
its a chop, from a thread i made ago too about spy shots, but hell, thats a super ugly car, no one will buy it except when they have no choice

Dec 13, 2006, 6:35 AM
Everybody has a choice:

Take the red pill (cranberry juice), discover the real world, and buy a good car.

Take the blue pill (toilet duck), hahaha you drank toilet duck and need your stomach flushed, and somebody stole your identity and bought a jag XF photoshop ($1000000000000000000) while you were in hospital. hahahahahahaha. You were completely pwned!

Tom Kristensen

I'd go for the red pill...

I don't think Jaguar will have any problems selling it. It won't beat Mercedes or BMW, but it won't make Jaguar go to shít.

When I was 14, I was talking to a guy who had a (then new) Jag s-type.
Me: nice old jag, there.
Him: Excuse me?!?
Me: I was looking at your jag, earls 1990s?
he simply walked away...
I had no clue what I had done to deserve that, until I went on the net later that day.

Jaguars always look better in real life than pictures. I'm going to withold my opinion until I see one in real life.

teaser form jaguar on the XF:Bleh. it looks like looks like the result of a drunken night between a DB9 and the early Maserati 3200 GT with boomerang-shaped tail lights.

It actually took me a quite a few minutes to figure out what part of the car it was. I thought it was a low side view of the the front bumber.

Robbie
Dec 17, 2006, 5:09 AM
looks like the DB9 from the back, the lights...the side mirror looks quite cool, but i would have regular bigger ones, is it actually based on the looks of the aston martin DB9?

Tom Kristensen
Dec 17, 2006, 6:27 AM
It's gonna be a four door, so it will look closer to the Rapide concept. It's using the detail with the door handle integrated in the C-pillar - now that leaves any Aston in the dust!

I liked it better when I thought it was a low side view of the front bumper though. It would've looked so cute and very futuristic... but aerodynamic as a bus.
From what we can see in the picture, it just looks like a cheap and less classy DB9.
