View Full Version : The 360 Modena replacement is comming. (Spy shots within.)

As I have said before I am on a few Ferrari message boards. One has a few great spy shots, not those bad drawings that have been floating around lol. The car was spotted right by the factory in Maranello last week. The shots were taken with a mobile phone camera so they are not the best, but the car looks great. I am gonna try to see if they will allow me to post the two shots here. The car has the same overall shape of the 360 Modena, but appears to have all new bodywork below the roofline. It even seems to have a Enzo-esque rear end. The engine is said to be a new 4.2 or 4.3 liter unit delevering 480-500 horspower, and weight will be under 3000 pounds so it will be quite a mover. Move over Ford GT and Lamborgini Gallardo! The names being tossed around vary from F420/430, 420/430M Modena, 420/430 Monza to 420/430 Fiorano. It should be making its public debut at one of the upcomming auto shows as a 2006 model year car. I'll keep you all posted as I get new information.

I'd have to agree with you there.
And from what I have read this should be one of most nimble handling and tossable cars to ever come from Ferrari, and that is saying alot. I can't wait to see this baby.

I got a spy shot, it's not the better one, I couldn't use it. But a guy sent me this one. You can see if you look carefully underneath all that fake bodywork is almost a whole new body. If you look at the rear of the car you can see the higher placed taillamps like on the Enzo. I have seen a less covered up car in other shots, it looks COOL.

Ferrari 420 Modena
Ferrari is now turning its attention to keeping the 360 Modena competitive in the face of new challengers. Spy photos of prototypes circling the Fiorano test track show only slightly modified bodywork but expect to see more extensive modifications underneath the skin when this refreshed Modena goes on sale sometime next year. The most notable change is likely to be the addition of a larger 4.2-liter engine that should cure the Modena's lack of low-end torque.

Yeah, they nearly always travel in convoys of support cars and the masked concepts.
It saves money, there are also circuits where many manufacturers pay for the right to test their cars, so that is why you see so many spy shots from regular positions on race circuits.

I just read on my favorite Ferrari board that according to inside sources at Ferrari, the test mules with the new engines are already "surpassing the times of its closest rivals, the Gallardo and GT."
They are shooting for 0-60 in the high 3's, the 1/4 mile in the 12 flat range, and a top speed in the area of 190. Not to mention that the car will handle and brake with the best cars in the world, hell the 360 Modena already does that. A improvement on that is gonna be awesome.

I just read on another board that instead of the interior just getting a few minor changes it should get a full workover. From what I read expect a new Enzo-like steering wheel, new gauge cluster, new door trim, new seats and more. Every time Ferrari upgrades their main mid-engined sports car it gets more and more changes it seems. The 308 to 328 was a minor change, the 348 to F355 was more major. Finally it seems the 360 Modena to whatever it will be called will be a very extensive upgrade. :-)

Here is a new spy shot for you guys. There have been two known cars running around. This is the more 360 Modena based looking one, not the more heavily gone over one, but even with that being this is one of the closest rear shots yet. It is still heavily covered up but you can see the Enzo-like tail lamps and what seems to be a automatically adjusting rear spolier. Also if you look at the front and compare it to the car behind you can see the difference in the shape of the nose....NICE.
SubaruKid37
Jun 11, 2004, 5:32 AM
....NICE.
I agree, and hopefully the front will look good. I am still a bit unsure about putting Enzo lights on it, but time will tell when it is finally released. An automatically adjusting rear spolier would be very cool, but somehow, I prefer permamnent spoilers, but thats probably because I really like GT race cars which have spoilers like that (even so, they can often be too big :P)

The front shots that I have seen look very aggressive. I like the Enzo-like tail lamps alot. The back of the Enzo Ferrari to me looks awesome. The treatment on this car looks similar, not exact and I am sure will look great. I really dislike big wings. I prefer when downforce is acheived by undercar means, not by tacking on a ugly wing. So a automatically adjusting rear spoiler works for me. :-)

Thats a weird comment considering nobody has seen one.
Plus their not "borrowing parts", they use common features
from their other cars like all companies do, it's called brand idenity.
Like how Ferrari uses 4 round tail lamps, and BMW uses the kidney grille etc, etc.
Don't make a comment like that about any car until you see it.

Here is a shot sent to me by a friend. His buddy got it and Photoshopped the front and back red to match the rest of the car. It was all covered up with black stuff, so yes it has been doctored. But even with that being it's one of the few front shots. God only knows how much of that nose is fake and I am sure Ferrari has most of it hidden. But you can still see a all new front fascia with really cool new intakes and new fenders. Along with what seems to be aggressive new head lamps. As you look back you can tell the rear section is all new and you can see the larger side intakes. I just wish it wasn't all coverd up lol.
