Now we all miss the neglected lotus Esprit. And now your going to miss it even more. Road and track had an article on new european cars coming out. I think you should read the article yourself. I really don't like it. The old esprit was old, but it was still a handsome car and was totally diffrent then it's competition, price and performance wise. The new esprit will match the performance of the gallardo and 360, but it also carries the price, which is not cool IMO. Plus, the styling is not as handsome. It's now all edgy and gallardo like. It's not bad, but it's no old esprit.

Hmmm... handsome car like u said, but doesn't really seem original to me. A lot like the Gallardo, too much so in fact. If I had that kind of money I'd want something original and unique. I think they should have kept more traditional styling, but that's just me and the old styling was kinda tired out (I had to admit it).

I think you can forget the name, Lotus have said that the name Esprit will not be used again, so the chances are that the media started the name going, and Lotus are playing along until nearer its release. (lightly touched upon in the article)

And this picture, will not look like the final car, I have seen concept models of the car, and it is similar, but not like this. Lotus is famous for throwing the media off course, releasing concepts that will never reach production... anyone remember the phoney exige concept, which was actually a bodykitted Elise and a bit of wood unter the cloth to simulate a spoiler??

Any way, the front of the car is almost identical to the M250 concept, and that turned out to be different a different car called the Elise S2, so like I said earlier, it is almost definately going to look quite different, this is just to get the excitment levels high before its official release...

Lotus will make up something soon, and then it will be posted here and everyone will believe it, and when the car is released everyone will be in shock because they are so different to the final model, it happens all the time with Lotus, they do it on purpose :roll:

The old Esprit was a very unique car IMO, and cannot be reached with today's trends.

I loved the old espirit but this doesn't look too bad to me, I actually like it

i thought it would look a whole lot more original like the old espirit. i doubt the espirit will ever be different again. it wont stand out among other competitors.

I agree... I really liked the Espirit -- I don't care much for the Elise, and this car does resemble the Gallardo... a car which I'm not all that fond of either :( *sigh* I miss the '90s.
