Wow, the fact that they put the SSC Ultimate Aero TT and the Saleen S7 TT in their list at all shows their complete lack of automotive knowledge. Three of the top 5 cars' top speed are based on "estimates." WTF? How does Forbes allow this kind of journalism to occur?

At least they were able to dig up several American sportscar names that I've never heard of, interesting. That's pretty much the only good this article does.

The 3rd car (well the whole company) including all the tooling to build was just recently sold. The company was Evans Automobiles and the car was called the Evans 486. I think I posted pics of it on here some time ago. Also I think the company sold for about $96,000. Company meaning the car and molds/tooling

It's just wind tunnel testing so it really doesn't count.

To the best of my knowledge the first 3 cars have not been formally tested for top speed.

some stuff is jus not rite....if a kit car can enter why not the hennessey viper?they do have a manufacturer license.and if estimates count then 250mph hennessey viper also shud be included.

I don't like companies who just put a big v8 in some lambo lookalike body and say they make a car faster than veyron. esspecially when you look at the fact that it took one of the biggest manifacturers 5 year en millions off euro's to create that.

5) Viper SRT-10. For the hell of it...if the exhausts didnt heat up the door sills like Kate Moss' armpit after she sniffed glue.

Also everyone should read the article and not just look at the pictures...lol. These are Current American Production cars. The GT is no longer in production so its out. Also these numbers were not based on independent testing, but purely manufacturer data. Several of those cars at the 155mph top speed are there because they are electronic limited from the factory, So forbes is basing its top speed out of the factory with no mods.

They are fast as hell consdering the price, but they aren't really fast on twisty tracks... or so I've heard. The Shelby Cobra would beat nearly anything in straight line performance though.

Not they didnt miss them. Superformance does not make a turnkey car. they make a Turnkey Minus. Then you add the drivetrain of your choice.

Oh and if im not mistaking Superformance builds there cars in South Africa or something then ships them to the USA

And the same factory that builds the Superformance cars builds the Noble cars as well.

the productioncars in the list are ok, but especially the ssc it just a we can do bether than bugatti car, and saleen is doing that to with the TT one. that's the stuf i don't like. the list is crappy because it's bassed on estimates and some cars are missing.

The Ford GT is on last years list. Its not in production any more. As people have already said. The Mosler would be slower due to its aerodynamic qualities and gearing.

the only aerodynamic probelm is the wing lowering top speed

I am not completely understanding how the Z06 Vette has a top speed of 198 mph and the GT500, which the same horsepower, has top speed of 155. It looks to be like the GT500 might be limited, but I wonder what the top speed would be if it wasn't limited? Also, why is the vette not limited?

Limiters are not mandatory.

The Vette weighs a lot less, Is more aerodynamic and probably has different gear gear ratios to the GT500's.

Its rumoured the GT500 tops out at 180mp/h (290km/h) but that is yet to be proven.
