God, I hate that car now. It's like the Murcielago - they always crash. And not only that. The Enzo seems to have a tendency to split in half, and that's just the top of the iceberg... it also caught fire!
It's an interesting picture though. It explains very well why it doesn't use a spoiler.

i have no pity for the driver, people who drive fast enough to have an accident like that dont deserve to drive beautiful cars, a race track is the only place for driving over the limit

i think spilting in half would be a good thing
you get further away from the engine which will blow up

Also, I would assume the cockpit/nose unit would flip around like crazy when getting detached from the rear-end at high speed.

Ya see, ya'll are saying rich people shouldn't drive enzo's, but Ferrari picked very select people to own these. You previously had to own an F40 and F50, and im only assuming you probably didn't have to crash these to get an enzo......and they also get training with ferrari pretty much when they like at the fiorano track, it's like joining a family.
People who crash Enzo's, it has to be a freak accident, or sheer cockiness.

It split in half because it hit a tree. And come on, who buys an enzo to go the speed limit?

Business men are starting to crash Enzos. A trend perhaps?

That would work for the people who bought the car direct off the factory but this guy may have bought his second or even third hand.

I still believe you have to go through the same process. I know for a fact with a Pagani Zonda, if you buy one second hand, you send it back, and they will completely re-trim the interior to your desired specification.

but you can still buy on second hand if you want and ferrari cannot do anything about it

Those cars which are rear engined are not that good..
Murcielago is like this.. and now Enzo is also like this.
Both are rear-engined ain't.. I mean mid engined.
This is the 4th Enzo if you read the article.

Damn. Almost every Enzo I have seen that crashed split in half. I don't the the exact reason for that. If in case I own an Enzo, I wouldn't be driving it more than 65 mph.
clk.dtm.amg
Nov 28, 2006, 12:17 AM
the reason, is that the enzo is built to break in half to absorb energy in intense highspeed or track crashes and carry it away from the passingers, you can always see the cockpit and engine assembly intact just not connected. In F1, the cars are built to be weak around the edges but very strong aroud the driver

Eh, it was in the snow from what I can see. It's common sense to drive it soft, so it's just stupid to drive fast in slick conditions w/ a car that wasn't designed for such conditions. I'd drive a Ferarri on dry pavement only.....

theres palm trees in the background, thats fire repellant foam its a lot more effictive than water because it suffocates and sticks to whatevers burning

theres palm trees in the background, thats fire repellant foam its a lot more effictive than water because it suffocates and sticks to whatevers burningthats what I though but that looks like it has the properties of snow...also the road is wet, and the white stuff is also on the other side of the road. It's cold because everyone is wearing coats/long sleeves and the palm trees are dying. The palm trees could have been planted there for looks...
It very well could be foam though...I cant tell...

well the crash was in Nice France on the Mediterranean sea, a few years ago i was in greece and italy in feburary and it was 60-70 degrees so i highly doubt its snow but hell ya never know
Robbie
Nov 28, 2006, 4:18 AM
owwww....that hurts...hope they could get themselves another one and perhalps not to crash it...but no, its not snow, its just those chmical that stops fire more easy than jsut plain water, its a chemical stuff...

Arrgh. Why the Enzo crashes and split in half all the time.
Maybe the driver needs to be more careful.
Is there's any Veyron crashes yet?

Is there's any Veyron crashes yet?Yeah, it's gotta be crash tested, otherwise it wouldn't be road legal in Yourob. Bohgatty won't show any pictures or results from the test though. That means that they either never crash testet it anyway, or that the results were so ugly that they wouldn't publish anything.

lol! I can assure that white stuff is not snow! It's the stuff that the firemen use, it's more effective than water.
It happened a few days ago just down the road, and I can assure you it wasn't snowing! It even made the front page of our local newspaper, and I (of course) read the article and it said several things:
- they still don't know why the accident occured
- the identity of the passenger had not yet been revealed, but we know it's a woman
- it happened right by the runway of the airport so that's why they used that white stuff to get the fire out (because fire trucks that are for the airporst only use that stuff)
- it was a russian guy i think, and he was severly burnt

And the Enzo is supposed to split in half when it crashes.

rich people blahblah, im sick of hearing the rich people cant drive crap on here, do you think you could handle an enzo? do you think if you had an enzo you would stick to speed limits? i had a crappy escort and when i ad the chance i would put my foot down every now and then, and to be honest if i was in an enzo i would already be dead, rich people deserve to have any car they wish and its up to them how they choose to drive it, i just have no pity for them if they crash it i just hope there was no passenger, also i dont give a damn how many enzo's are crashed the chances are they can go buy another supercar the next day if he survived, i feel more for the working class people who work hard for a car and lose their cars due to idiots on the road who think they are michael schumacher because they have a ferrari.

A few minutes earlier, the car was seen swerving through the traffic and speeding (not a clever thing to do on a road like that...) Probably explains the crash... His damn fault, luckily he injured no one else.

I'm pretty sure it was his fault too, but most of us would probably have done the same if we had an Enzo - I certainly would.

He injured the passenger.
You're right, but she was probably not totally "innocent" either. She wasn't really severely injured either - she flew straight back to Russia after the crash too.

I wouldn't, not on a Saturday afternoon on a choko-block Croisette in Nice. A very stupid thing to do... He was probably doing it to show off in front of 1/ his female passenger 2/the hundreds of people around, not to get a thrill.

^Lol, it's constructed to split in half when crashing... apparently.
It's a pretty useless detail though. It didn't help anything in this case, and it would be the sausage of death to have your car split in half at high speeds.
Chookes
Dec 03, 2006, 9:42 PM
Just a thought but the petrol tank would be in the backend of the car? So if a car was to split into two, the chances of you going up in flames along with the backend of the split are slightly decreased.
Does anyone actually know if it's true or is Tom. K talking balony everytime he says that :p?

Dec 04, 2006, 2:29 PM
Whuh. "The Sausage of Death?" It's a Danish slang I'm trying to make international through SCF. It's going pretty well. There's already a dog in the USA named after that slang now.

Don't be an idiot. You have no idea why some of these people crashed. Some may act like racing drivers but other's may have geniunely crashed by accident. It would't have mattered if they were in a CGT or a Honda Civic.
