From concept sketch to reality, we bring you the ROUSH Reactor Mustang. We knew this would be a killer car, but honestly it's even better than we thought in person. The olive drab paint color that covers the car's carbon fiber body panels is a nice detour away from the Highlighter Yellow and Orange colors that so many cars are wearing at SEMA this year. The Ringbrothers who built the car removed the drip rails and door handles so that those expanses of colored carbon fiber could be better viewed. The matte six-spoke wheels continue the muted color scheme and the lip on those rear rims is too wide to believe. The engine is Roush's new show-n-go 427 R crate motor that produces 552 horsepower and 535 ft-lbs. of torque, but still looks good enough to win awards under that vented hood. While there are Mustangs in attendance at the SEMA show that have more powerful engines and more sensational modifications (the Obsidian comes to mind), we'd be hard pressed to find one as well done as the Reactor. Good luck to its owner in winning the Good Guys Street Machine of the Year Award.

One of the most instantly recognizable Mustangs is this one from 'Gone In Sixity Seconds'. Named Eleanor, it accompanied Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Robert Duvall in a feature about an ex-car thief that had to steal 50 cars in one night.

As a highlight for the movie, a $250 000 project was funded to create Nicolas Cage's personal ride. Before the movie launch, little did Ray Clarid of Cinema Vehicle Services (CVS) realize just what an icon his custom fastback bodykit would have on the Mustang community. Afterwards, countless tuning companies came out with replica kits and even complete cars that mimicked Eleanor.

Initially CVS made twelve Mustangs for movie, most which served different purposes. Some were forcused on performance or static display and two were destroyed during the filming of the final jump scene.

Seen above is the press car that was used for all the photoshoots and publicity events for the movie. Like most of the Eleanors, it has a 351 Ford Motorsport Crate engine, non-functional side exhaust, Lincoln rear-end, Schmidt 17 inch wheels, lowered suspension, bodykit, nitrous oxide kit, oversize tach and Shelby interior. The front featured a custom grill made from a Chevy Astrovan's, PIAA Lights and all cars were painted with 44490 grey Dupont paint. Ironically, none of the mentioned cars actually had functioning nitrous oxide.

The color doesn't match that car IMO.

Holy crap! Is that Alloway based off of a 1967 Shelby GT500? That should be crime and should be punished with sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

Anyone who knows me and cares about me knows which Mustang I would choose! The Obsidian is a close second, but the 2005 front really ruins it.

obsidian coupe r design- Looks great and has a beautifuland powerful engine engine.

Tom Kristensen
Nov 27, 2006, 9:17 AM
Yeah, it's probably too powerful. 900 HP is an equal power output to Group C cars, and those had slicks and aerodynamics that no cars before, no cars since, and no cars ever will acieve again. You're dead meat if you put your foot down just a little to heavy in that Mustang!

what! how can you do this to me!? i cant choose, i wont ill never pick one, never, you cant make me, ill take the eleanor heheYeah, this certain Eleanor owns the rest. It's a movie car and will be worth two Veyrons and an Opel Corsa in the future. I think there's only two left or something.

That 1966 custom is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous. The Obsidian and Alloway aren't too far behind. The Roush is okay but I don't like the overall look too much. I'd kill (yes, this is from Monkey the Camaro freak) for an Eleanor. I'll deny I wrote this if anyone ever brings it up again though!

I would kill for one as well, but I would murder for a Fosse '69...

Go home 1967 CoupeR Design Obsidian SG One! (I could never truly love a car with a name like that anyhow.)

im the only one who voted for the reactor???

Tom Kristensen
Nov 29, 2006, 11:25 AM
I guess. It's still pretty damn cool. I used to prefer it to Eleanor as a "car", but then the 1967 CoupeR Design Obsidian SG One blew it away. Although I guess I like the Reactor and the 1967 CoupeR Design Obsidian SG One equally now since the front of the 1967 CoupeR Design Obsidian SG One has really gotten on my nerves.

Obsidian looks awesome. Lovely crafted engine in there, aswell. I love the paintwork and it really is a work of art.

Some of the others looka little too tunerish, like the second to last one, that had a lot of ICE and was probably just a show car.

Secondly I would choose the GT500E, beautiful, beautiful car and not so tunersish, I like that one.
