The reg plates have been photoshopped, but hopefully the rest of the car isnt!

info:
The new M3 & M4 will use a 400Bhp V8 due on sale in 2006 starting at £45,000 at todays prices, also planned is an Estate (Touring) version to take on it's rivals like the Audi S4, Mercedes C32 AMG & forthcoming C55 seen as a large market share for Tourings. The V8 version is likely to be a 4.0 Litre with drive to the rear wheels & update version of the SMG Sequential Manual Gearbox through the traditional 6-Speed manual. Although heavier than the tradition 6-cylinder engine it will be off-set by the lighter hybrid construction on all new 3 & 4-Series.

I also managed to locate this pic of the 4-seies range:

BMW continues to fill out its model line with lots more new models, including a recently introduced 6-Series coupe and the X3 Sports Activity Vehicle. The model line will expand even further in 2006 when BMW introduces the next generation of the 3-Series.

Currently the 3-Series comes in a variety of models including sedan, wagon, coupe, and convertible. Rumors from within BMW say that the new 3-Series will be divided in half, with the traditional 3-Series name being applied to the sedans and wagons and a new 4-Series name applied to coupes and convertibles. The 4-Series cars will be somewhat more upmarket than the 3-Series, with more standard equipment and unique sheetmetal to set them apart from the 3-Series cars whose platform they will share.

Naturally the 4-Series will have front engines and rear-wheel drive. Expect the current trend to more power to continue, with a range of powerful six-cylinder engines for the 4-Series cars, plus possibly even a rumored 380-horsepower V-8 engine for the top-of-the-line M4.

The photo shows an artist's concept of what the BMW 4-Series Coupe might look like when it is introduced for the 2006 model year.

Now that sounds a like a really bad idea to me!! And let's just stick to a M3. :)

eh, it's ok. I think it needs a smidge more horsepower.

M8/M9 any pics

no, i dont, but I did read in several places that the Z9 concept is going to be made as 9-Series, so heres a pic, and judge for yourself! Make it a bit sportier and you got the M9 I suppose

How cool is the top pic, depending on how you open the door depends on whether is standard or gullwing!! Somehow I don't think that will make production :P

Here you can just see the double door mechanisms; where the gullwing type opens both front and back doors as well!!
http://www.highresautoimages.com/bmw/z99.jpg

hmm, reminds me of another car (not the doors, but styling from the side) - McLaren SLR :P

Poor people in the back get no legroom!!

It could be regarded as more original.....or just ugly, either way, both are true :P even though, I sort of like this car...

I don't really like the styling of the 4 series or the 9 series

tat z9 concept was released in 1999 (i think)
so i think BMW might not think of producing it now

Yeah, the Z9 concept was 1999, but I also heard that they are thinking of reviving it as the 9-series by 2006/7

tat would be nice
it could compete with the merc sports cars
just wish it would not be like Z8
though the Z8 is good, it is a very exclusive car

going with the BMW naming system should the 9-series be a saloon as:
1=hatch
2=convetible or coupe
3=-saloon
4=coupe, covertible
5=saloon
6=coupe , convertible
7=saloon
what about the 8 series, saw one the other day, still looks good

i too like them but it failed to capture the market for high sports cars from merc
anywen knows why tat happened cause i am curious why such a good car failed to impress the people

It was too expensive and consumed too much fuel (V12)... It also wasn't produced in large numbers, so not many ppl know about it.
This category of cars doesn't sell high anyway.

Here is a good site for the 8-series with all the possible info you could get: http://www.e31.net/english.html

I wouldnt think so, of M7, as it is a casual car. And it is very heavy. But it could happen. I mean nothing is impossible for them.
