ok, so i was watching this car movie on TV, they were testing the E46 M3, and they said it does 0-100km/h in 4.8, i was wondering, i heard wrong, rewinded it, and heard 4.8 again, so now im wondering, why does the European Spec M3 have a 100km/h faster then the Australian Spec, M3, there both E46, both stock, same size rims, but the euro M3 has about 20bhp more, why do they give it less power for Australia.. something to do with regulations? Someone explain, thanks...

This is just a guess here, but maybe its fuel related. I herd cars in Europe get more hp there due to something with the fuel.

its the same with japanese cars, we use to only have 98 octane fuel and the sti and evo had to go from 206kw to 195kw because the japanese have 100-octane. In europe at least i think they use 100 octane.

You can buy 100 octane and AV gas from your local airport.

Commercial service stations sell either 95 or 98 octane as the highest octane fuels.

Australian Magazines etc test cars differently to foreign sources. Prime example is the Pontiac GTO. American magazines 0-100 4.8 seconds, here 0-100 in 5.6 seconds.

The power is just because of different HP figures. European horsepower is different from Australian horsepower. The 0-100 time is probably because of the fuel, as the other guys said.

Your sources need a brain check. Most of Australia and most of the US (ie the densely populated/coastal areas) are the same altitude.
