ill take the original vette over it, are you sure its not just a vette rear?

Not to sure about costs. Just stumbled across it.

It is a real vette that someone had spent money on and developed a tray for it.
This Vette would lose the rear end very easily.

As far as the work goes, they did a great job, but i would not do that to a vette iff i had it. Kinda lost its sex appeal.

Looks pretty dodgy. Its gonna be like that Ferrari Estate though, its ugly as hell but we'll love it.

I love it. I would take it over a stock Corvette. I suppose the trunk would generate so much drag at the wrong side of the c.g that it won't drive anywhere near as good as a stock Corvette, but who cares. It's a damn cool idea.
Over here we do it to Camaros as well. Well, they keep the rear window, but people mod it so it can be registered as a truck.

If he got a tonneau cover the drag would be minimal, For the record Tonneaus are hard plastic covers for trays of utes.

I like it. I liked the design of that Corvette anyway, but turning it into an ute is pretty damn cool. It actually looks professional. Back lights look nice, it's got a proper loadbay and the rims are good.
I reckon it's pretty good.

any info on how much weight can the rear carry?

Now that's a practical supercar.
American ingenuity at it's best.

Thats a very cool project. For some reason it makes me think of the Ford WR8 utes from the early 90's. What are they called, the ones with the really ugly deep set headlights.

Very nice. It looks like it was done in a good shop or the owner is a good fabricator. This is one of those things that people in America do when they find a car in a junk yard that's got a totalled rear end or something... We turn it into something else! lol

The fabrication of it is excellent.
Australian makes aside I have never seen a vehicle of any sort turn up this good once a ute conversion has been completed.

I say...I'm impressed. It's nicely done, but I wouldn't really take that for a stock corvette, unless if I have guts to go against trucks. What the hell am I sayin'...I do have guts to go against trucks...I'm a sports car fan! Proud of it!

looks real good its the best ute i have seen but good thing they kept the tail lights because its the best way to make out a corvette from the back.

^Nah, only if you carry tons of stuff all the time.....
Dam, pretty cool! It looks professionaly done.....
[off-topic]
I'd like to see the Holden "ute" be rebadged as a Chevy and sell it as an El Camino! That would be cool as well.....[/off-topic]

^^^^Well gee.....you sure are optimisitic...........:|
I have always thought that Chevy should offer this type of Corvette to the public. Yes I know it would take a bunch of money to develop and all that stuff, but in the end I think a lot of people would buy this.
I would buy a C6 pickup

the work looks well done, but I would have to pass on it. It might look better if it did not look so square around the back window. Maybe some sail pannels that swept from the back of the cab, down the sides of the bed, to give it the appearance of a smoother angle to the rear window

I agree with that.
The tray seems to square as well when then the front end is well rounded. The rear window would okk better with a slightly sloped window.
Bosses - I wouldnt turn a Vette in to a ute, I like the look of your vette how it is.

It'd be pretty much useless, just look at the Chevrolet SSR, it's going to be a long time before GM decides to make another disaster like that.

Nice car/truck but I would just go and buy an El Camino and save a lot of time and money

Well maybe Chevrolet might get some ideas from these enthusiasts who probably couldn't get a Holden ute here in the states. Hell, this might be a future idea to bring back the El Camino.

Wow..that looks awesome. It has a bit more utility, while looking good, and having awesome performance. The Ram SRT-10 can't touch this.

The rear suspension in corvettes is not made to carry any kind of a load. If you had a full tank of gas, and tried to put a load in it, it would probably handle like a bayliner
I have owned a few el caminos. I do not know why I used to like them. They do not handle well, and they do not carry a load like a pickup. That is not to say that I wouldn't buy another one if I found an SS for a decent price.

I spent some years on a farm. A TRUCK is for moving furniture; hauling hay (inbound/outbound); or hauling garbage to the dump! Unladen, a 1/2 ton Chevy PU can get stuck in wet grass!
If I can afford a Vette; I can borrow/rent/steal a TRUCK to haul mierda!
For decades, El Caminos had standard air shocks. 90psi was worth 700 lbs.

I am with you on this one. I do not even consider what I can transport when I get in my car

I was just kidding when I asked if I should convert my car, I really don't see the point in a "ute" (no offense to Australians).
A pickup truck should be more then just a bed, it should have the clearance to handle terrain. A sports car should be low enough so the weight handles well. Thus combining a sports car and a truck has to compromise one of these, and ruining it.

To be honest, it does look better then the original vette rear...
Not nearly as sporty but I really like the conversion.

Yeah, I think the ute conversion looks better as well. Chevrolet should start making a Corvette ute. That would be totally awesome. You could get a hell of a truck from a Z06!
