I know that the F430 is the 360s successor, but why did they make an it a different model? It look almost exactly the same.

Think of Peugeot's 206 and 207. The 207 was bigger, better - wait no it wasn't.
Scrap that......

Its a different model because it has a bigger engine. the 360 had a 3.6 and the 430 has a 4.3. im pretty sure that a few of the models get their names from there engine size.

The F430 is faster, and has a pretty good facelift, they are pretty easy to tell apart.

the f430 looks better than the 360, and if u read all the reviews u will discover that all the driving things wrong with the 360 have been fixed with the creation of the f43o

I bet he means that why didnt they call the F430 the 2005 F360. Like the 911 Carrera models have increased the engine displacement and have had many style changes over time but they have kept the model name. I bet they did it to sell more of them eventhough its true that the changes were big. If a F360 owner saw the new 2005 F360 hed think "its just the new version, I already have one" while if he read F430 hed think "wao, a new Ferrari, Ill buy it".

No, they don't look the same, maybe in pictures, but not in person.
The front and rear can't be mistaken for eachother. And the sides are redone noticeably as well.

The 360 looked way better, but the F430 drives way better. I belive they are 100% different anyway.
The F430 has the same tail lights as the Enzo, and it has some narrow headlights, unlike the 360.

the f430 is a mini enzo .it looks jus like it.i mean if u look @ the rite spot.the 360 was way better looking than this.but the f430 has a better engine and more hi-tech engineering behind it.

Because Ferrari are a superbrand. They dont do mark ups and improvements, they go the whole hog or nothing. The F430 is a new car compared to the 360, different engine, different shape etc. How would you feel if ferrari brought out their new facelifted enzo next year, with more room for luggage ? Stupid, that's how.

If I were given a chance to choose between both of them..
I would take the 360 .
I don't really like the F430 because as zeyk said.. it was the Mini Enzo .
I want a Enzo to be original .

I think that the greenhouse area of the 360 was carried over as well as the doors, but all other skin components were changed. The car, as altova85 said, is basically an evolution of the 360, so while not completely redesigning the car from scratch, Ferrari did improve a bunch of the old car's parts.

The 360 and the F430 are basically the same car, only that the F430 is better in a way...

Yea, I ment that. I just seems like they reshaped it (a little), and gave it more go. But I see where you're comming from witht he whole renaming it.

Well I'll never see a F430 next to a 360, so I'll never know.

Are you serious ? how the hell after all these posts and the pictures comparo by "n wright" and you still don't know the difference between the 360 and the f430 ?
They really can't be mistaken for eachother, i mean each one has it's own design , if you can't recognize it from the sides, then the front and the rear are totally different ....

Have a look at these pictures then. The headlights and air intakes certainly look different. So do the diffuser and the side view mirrors.

The 207 is on a completely different level to the 206. The 206 had a horrible cheap interior, bad driving position and many other faults whereas the 207 is a very quite, comfortable and good looking car. The interior is in a different world to the 206 and the ride is so much better.

Yes I was serious! I see some differences, but not enought for me to consider why they needed to rename it.

It looks like a facelifted 360, but underneath it is vastly improved. Ferrari says 70% of the parts are redesigned/changed. Ferrari doesn't keep names, they evolve each of their cars. Interestingly enough, the F430 produces 490 hp, more than the F40, yet this is a entry level Ferrari.
Most notably is the new 4.3 liter V8. According to Ferrari, the V8 is a all new design instead of the evolved outgoing V8 whose history dates back to the 348 era.
The 360's 5-valve cylinder head design has gone back to 4-valve per cylinder design. Why? Ferrari engineering boss Amedeo Felisa said, "there is no more need of the fifth valve".
The new engine employs a continuous-type VVT at both intake an exhaust camshafts, rather than just discreet-type VVT at the exhaust valves on the 360. This improves the whole rev range.
The 360 has actually been criticized for a lack of low-end punch. All solved with the new 4.3-liter; max torque increased from 275 lbft to 343 lbft at 5250 rpm, the engine now delivers serious punch from 3000 rpm upward.
Weight is up over the 360 due to the addition of new equipment, larger engine, and 10% heavier chassis which is 20% stiffer in torsion and has a stronger front end to comply with the latest US crash test. It still weighs less than the Gallardo. Stiffer chassis benefits handling.
There is so much more to it, of course. EStealth, did you notice how Ferrari names the car? 360 has a 3.6; 430 has a 4.3? Even if Ferrari didn't do this system, they would still evolve a new name.

the car drives much different than the 360. it sounds better and is a muthaf****r when you use LC. it has a different tone everytime you drive it. if you cruise in it, it sounds different then driving it like you stole it. its as if you changed the exhaust everytime you gave it a little throttle. if i were to be picky and would complain about something in the F430 it would be the compartment in the front which barely fits my laptop lol, ofcourse that after you get rid of the spare rim and car cover and those nice leather manuals. this would have been the best car i ever drove if i didnt test drive a 599GTB
