The new 2007 Aston Martin DBS
Maximum Power: 500bhp
0-60mph: 4.0 seconds
0-100mph: 10 seconds (estimate)
Top speed: 200mph
The DBS is based on the DB9, although you could say its more 'beefed up', and also has a more luxurious interior, with leather, piano black wood trim, alacantara and suede, with new unique lighting, buttons and trim.
The DBS is built on Aston's great Vertical-Horizontal Platform (a.k.a. the VH Platform). The car shares its roof, side windows and its wheelbase with the DB9, but it has been lowered by 25mm and is 40mm wider than the DB9.
The front end has been changed, with more dramatic air intakes, extended side sills and a front splitter been added, all to help the aerodynamics of the car and cool the powerful 6.0-litre V12 beast under the bonnet.
The rear end, however, has also been changed, with a carbon-fibre diffuser and rear lip spoiler to further improve the cars downforce and aerodynamics.
The DBS is said to be Aston's rival to the great Ferrari 599 GTB Fioriano, and a good one at that, I think. It hasn't got the astonishing power of the 599 GTB, but the DBS isn't too much slower, (a 0.2 second slower 0-60 and a 5mph slower top speed) and in my opinion is the nicer looking car, inside and out. We'll just have to wait to see which is the best drivers car...
Aston Martin estimates a sale of only 300 of these worldwide, (why?! It's beautiful!) so exclusivity is guaranteed. The car will cost around £150,000, with sales starting in 2007.

(IGNORE THE RUSTY EXHAUST PIPES ON THE PICTURE OF THE REAR OF THE DBS, THAT PICTURE IS THE ONLY ONE I COULD FIND WITH A REAR-VIEW OF THE DBS, AND IT'S NOT A VERY GOOD ONE... THE EXHAUSTS ARE SCABBY AND IS A PICTURE THE OLDER VERSION OF THE DBS, NOT THE PRODUCTION ONE :( THIS IS A MUEL, YOU CAN SEE THE SCABBY BITS OF EXHAUST STICKING OUT OF THE REAL ALUMINIUM EXHAUSTS... THEY HAVE BEEN ADDED FOR SOME REASON, MOST PROBABLY EMISSIONS SO TESTS CAN BE DONE! (SO THAT THE PIPE WHICH TAKES THE GAS FROM THE EXHAUST FITS ON) YEAH, THATS PROBLY WHAT IT IS...)
It's basically the already amazingly beautiful DB9, made even more beautiful... LOVELY :). I already loved the DB9 (it WAS my favourite car), but now this has came along... I love this EVEN MORE, and now takes place of the DB9 in my favourite car ranks :), sorry DB9, but I love your brother more now... LOL. :D
Now I'm waiting on the specs for Aston's new Rapide and V8 Vantage RS, can't wait to see both of these in production trim and see their specifications, it's gonna be great. As soon as I get them, I'm going to post them! Hold tight :D.
What do you all think people, a good rival to the 599? I certainly think so...

Holy damn! I WANNA CHANGE MY VOTE IN THE INTERIOR NOMINATION!:smt088
One thing is boiling my piss though... the gear lever is way too huge and ugly, but I suppose it will grow on me.
I also like the exterior. It's like a DB9 only sexier and with better aerodynamics... well, maybe not, but those are some interesting aero devices nontheless.

I would still say that the 599 GTB Fioriano will own this . The 599 is using the F1 technology and this AM is not . It doesn't use a 1 bolt wheel .
The rear lights seem to look great .
I would certainly say this is one of the best AM I've ever seen . Just like it.. not gonna love it .

I'd take it over the 599, unless it comes with so rusty and ugly exhaust pipes. The Exterior of the 599 looks slightly better than this, but the Aston murders it when it comes to the interior.

yup, i agree, that shift knob is soo damn huge, it just looks like those argh i forgot what their names are...but very huge, dont quite like it, same as the M3 CSL, using those unknown materials i see...quite cool outside, the rear shot i cant see it, its a big red X, soo the 3rd pic, blurry one is showing the bum of the car quite like my Ps2 game, something something velocity, it looks like a car in that, which isnt quite good looking...but maybe if i saw the last pic, would look quite good...
this over the 599 for sure, unless it has rusty parts :D

Is that weird gear lever made of iron or aluminium or something. If it is, it will become hot as hell. It works in a Ferrari because it's a Ferrari, but it would just be a pain in the ass in an Aston - 'Specially one with an interior like that.

Anyway...I really like the interior of this one . The Movie version of the DBS should be great with all the rocket launcher , ejector seat and bla bla bla .

That really doesn't matter on a street car, thats just what Ferrari says. What it means in real life is that you can get a semi auto and fiddly buttons on the steering wheel. Possibly an engine that breaks a lot. A last gen Audi A4 has all of those things except for the engine part.
The interior looks good, much better than any of its compeditors. The same goes for the exterior. What I don't like is that rubber thing on the gear stick, It looks like it came out of an old Ford Transit.

Suck on that, Ferrari!
I would take this car over a 599 any single day. It looks ten times better. It's got a much more purified badge on the front. It's cheaper. And it's more exclusive.
I love this car. The DB9 was bloody gorgeous. This raises the bar even more. Aston Martin have managed to create a car around the looks. The 599 was created around the aerodynamics, thus making it ten times more guly that this beauty. It's only .2 second slower to sixth, which is barely noticeable, and a paltry 5mph slower, and it's £20,000 cheaper? Hell yeah.
500bhp, 200mph super Aston, this is something to watch out for. I bet Ferrari's clean shaven faces will be starting to twitch with the introduction of this.

nah, this is what the production version will look like.. it's basically in production trim in those pics.
and yeah, tom, they will serve a purpose... itll all be for downforce, thats why a lip spoiler, the airofoils (at the front wings), the diffuser etc.. its all just to improve the handling of the car. makes it look radical aswell :) (a diffuser, airofoils and lip spooler are cool :D, if they used a massive rear wing instead, i would hate it.. thats what racing cars use, not a supercar :| they are so ugly, unless they serve a real purpose. it wouldnt on the DBS, a rear wing wouldnt be needed.. the diffuser, lip spoiler, airofoils etc more than make up for using one.) so there :D
i got this from my weekly delivered car magazine, Auto Express, it's exclusive to theis magazine only, only the Auto Express bloke, Bond himself and the stunt driver have ever drove the DBS, or even sat in it.

this is what i dont understand about aston martin
they are not a particularly big manafacturer of cars (yes, they are alot bigger than they used to be) but look at cars from a much bigger company like......ford for instance.
they are huge and still manage to make cars that look like a baboons arse and others that look like they are chewing on a bee.
then back to aston martin, their cars are so damn sexy its unbelievable and they are simply porn stars of the car world if you think about it.
and then back to fords bee chewing baboons.
it doesnt make any sense why dont companys like ford, BMW, peugeot and citroen get their act together.
another example is alfa romeo, their cars are so good looking and they are a small company compared to the corporate beasts of ford and other.
why dont bug car companys just get their act together.
Tom Kristensen

There's a reason why Ford is much bigger than Aston and Alfa - they are making boring cars that everybody buy. Aston barely sells 1% of what Ford does.

Well simply because Fords are cheaper, more economical and probably more reliable than an Alfa. A friend of mine owned an Alfa 147 GTA, and it was great car, but simply not as good quality, not as reliable, and pretty expensive to run (keep in mind that it was a 250hp engine).
But it's true, I don't understand why people buy AMGs, M6s... instead of an Aston.

So they did absolutely no development/ chassis or suspension set up work, nice plan Aston...... :p
Looks ok but this screws up the Aston range even more, this car is in Vanquish territory and the last thing Aston wants is cars steeling sales from its itself. Also the steering wheel looks the same as the Vanquish's aka very cheap and the gear lever is way out of proportion. Overall its fairly nice but I'd take a Porsche instead please.

for one, this car will be better than the Vanquish and will be bought over the Vanquish, and for two, the Vanquish is due to be replaced soon...
and yeah, they did do suspension work.. theres better suspension, brakes etc.. anything that produces better handling and overall performance.. its basically a brand new car, just using a far-improved DB9 platform. it might even weigh less, but im not sure about that..

^ It was meant to be a pun on the fact that aparently nobody had been inside a DBS outside of Auto Express, Bond and the stunt man and therefore how did they test the set up if the test driver wasn't allowed near it. But never mind.
Also I have just decided that I don't like the rims, they look very tacky and AM said they were going to replace them with some nice subtle magnesium alloy ones, that never happenened by the looks of it.

It may be lower than a DB9, more powerful or having a different interior than the DB9 but as all the last AM models, THEY LOOK ALL THE SAME!!! (which for me it means they all loke like crap..)
C'mon risk a little, make some bigger changes!!! The whole AM line up looks like if every car was a facelifted Vanquish IMO.
