I have picked up the recent copy of the duPont registry, and within it is a small 1/2 page article bout a 1600hp SRT10 twin turbo viper that does the 1/4 mile in 7.99 sec. Apparently the car was done by heffner performance, but all my searches have turned up nothing as far as other specs such as 0 to 60 times.

Anyone have any info, please share.

not by heffner but that only has 1000hp and it will do it in 2.55 seconds just to give you an idea.

Although I'm not completely sure if it was a SRT-10 or the GTS, the rear looks similar (in my eyes) on both models.

Thanks for the links, guys. That GTS video is great, the article does show the new SRT10 though. I'll try to find a scanner at work somewhere and put it up.

I was thinkig Hugh Heffner! I like the way it says he has been tuning cars since 1998 as if that was a really long time....

oh no, they are not talking about an SRT-10 running the 1/4 in less than 8 seconds. They are simply plugging/advertising for Heffers Performance.

The picture of the SRT-10 has nothing to do with the Viper that ran 7.99 If you read everything you will find that no where do they mention a SRT-10 runnin 7.99 Only that there is a video of a Viper running 7.99

Not only that but if you tried to drive that Viper on the street you wouldn't get 2 miles before you either break something or got pulled over! lol... By the time you take the slicks off and put the exhaust on, not to mention reduce the boost and run street gas in it so it doesn't burn up you'd run 9's so it's not much of a big deal...

I realized the fact about the plug for the shop, but I was still interested in finding out about the viper that did the sub 8 sec run. I noticed the slicks and drag shute on the vid, but there is another vid of a 1700hp street legal GTS viper doing a mid 8 sec run on that guys site: www.garyjavo.com (http://www.garyjavo.com) (although they did change the tires on if for the track obviously)

Thnx for that link again nist7... and for the correction as well...;)

anytime bro

on a side note, I used to subscribe to duPont registry 'cause of all the exotic cars that were in it. And then it got too expensive, so I just stopped. It had no educational value, you know. I can just go to the bookstore and flip through it for a while and be done with it.

Damn that's a nice video. I'm curious though, is Heffner better at tuning Vipers than Hennessey is?

Trust me, to run 7 second 1/4 mile times you have to change more than just the tires...

1600HP Viper..... sounds like a street legal drag racer that can handle a corner. I doubt it will last long, a Viper motor with that much power can't be too reliable.

thats is a given, but the point i was trying to state is that they needed those fat bald tires to put all that power down...

I for one would like to see a clip of that same car on street tires leaving a red light..... preferably taped by some kids in a "hooked-up" civic...
