I absolutely LOVE the Viper...but I wouldn't say that I would do ANYTHING for one. But, I do happen to adore the car...every single model. I know the SRT, the RT/10, and the GTS like I know the back of my hand.

as far as american cars go - i feel its very good, but in comparison to the Porsche's and Ferrari's of htis world i would go nuts over it.

I'd say i'm just a fan also. It was a really radical design for chysler. It came out in '94 right? It was much better than the corvette back then, and still is. The trouble is it's so expensive. It will never catch on like the vette. I think dodge should make a more realistic version of the viper. It should have the hemi V-8, with maybe 300-350 horsepower. They could call it the viper 350, and it could sell for $50,000 to $60,000. So, it would be insane competition for the stock vette. The regular V-10 viper should be called the Viper 500, and they should make a turbocharged edidition with 700 something hp. They could call it the Viper Turbo, and it could be $100,000+. This would be major competition for a ferrari or a lambo. The Viper has alot of possabilities. I just hope chysler realizes that soon or the slumping sales will kill it. Anyway, the viper is the best thing to come out of dodge in nearly a decade.

Call me crazy, cause I DO lack alot of sanity, but I swear I heard something aobut a 'mini' Viper of sorts a short while ago. I completely forget the name and everything, but it was supposed to be an affordable variation on the Viper. I will look aorund and post any info I dig up.

I would take one if it was offered to me....and then promptly sell it off and get another car. Or maybe give it to my room mate, maybe he wouldn't hate me so much then. It's not that its a bad car, it's that it isn't my style. Now, thats just me talking now, needing something more practile with 4 seats. As always, I'd go the s2k route if the matter comes down to pure bred performance vehicle. I'd be able to spend what? like 50 thousand plus on mods?

The Wicked Snake holds my attention visually and keeps my eyes open stat wise. I'm glad its being made and being improved. I'd just not really enjoy owning one.

Naw, it's not that ugly, but it's pretty bad. It really isn't what i waa talking about with an affordable viper. Come on. it's a car based on the image of a childs scooter! How manly is that?!? No, i meant putting a smaller engine in the same chassis and frame, and maybe lose some weight here and there. Either that, or put the copperhead into production. It's like the razor, except it has a manlier name and a bad image instead of silly.

Well, I said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm totally nuts. The Razor was the only thing I could find that fit the "mini vipe"r aura I was looking for. I do recall seeing the Copperhead before, so I'm pretty sure thats what I was REALLY REALLY thinking about. Thanks Mopar. My opinion on the matter is definitly having the Copperhead over the Razor, hands down. I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I posted that link :P

well, both the copperhead and razor aren't as good looking as the viper, but i like the copperhead better because it is more mature and serious than the image of the Razor. Like i said before, The razor is based off of a scooter! The Copperhead is based off of one of the worlds deadlist snakes! The Copperhead would be better for a working mans viper because of it's snake name. It makes more sense. Viper and copperhead are both snakes. Again, a razor is a scooter.

Yeah, I "drove" one of those in Test Drive: 24 Hour Le Mans. It was pretty beefy. I've watched toher races similar to Le Mans and the commentator ALWASY says something to the effect of "well, the Viper definitly has the straightaway advantage" and goes on to say how much better the other cars are in braking and handling. Those Audis are ALWAYS winning, sheesh.

Yeah, I can totally see how a Viper can be ugly. The older body style is a bit deformed and mishapen. Lots of curves, just not in the right places. Looks more fat than muscular at soem angles(opinion folks! don't even try to yell at me :P ) And the Razor doesn't look BAD, just has too many edges for its own good. Could have been so much better. Still, Dodge is one of the best American designers besides Pontiac and Cadilac. IMO

I love the viper, it is my favorite car.I have a couples models of it. It's definately the best american car and will burn any car under $110,000.

The Dodge Vipers are definately the best looking ( also America's greatest ) cars ever made. The one i like best, is the Viper GTS Concept '93, my fave car for sure. But i think the Viper isn't what it used to be. It once had beautifull shapes, curves and lines, but now, it's an almost standard Japanese-looking sports car, with a few, altered Viper looks ( why did they let a Japanese guy design it!?! ). The first 3 generations were the most beautufull cars ever, but the redesigned ones aren't. Maybe the '05 GTS will change my mind :roll: ...

the viper has the most Ls of any US car. 8.3L. Thats what what makes it diffrent from all those V-10 500hp new engines every one has now.

A 8.3lt engine could be VERY BAD for your fuel economy, you know... :roll:

This is only secend gen viper, there weren't 3 before it, and in a sports car like the viper who cares about fuel economy. If you can afford the car, you can the gas

When muscle cars were living their golden era, the biggest engines were the 395, 427 and 440. In metrical system, the range of displacement went from 5.8 to 7.2 liters approximately... and those cars "just" pumped between 300 and 450 HP. It's important to note that these engines were completely reliable.
As you can see, the detail is almost genetical... but that doesn't mean that american cars are underpowered in relation with others...

I'm a true fan and I mean it. The Viper is my all time favourite car. I love muscle cars and the muscle car era, but the Viper was launched in the decade that I was a teenager. The GTS with Shelby stripes, and the all white GTS-R test cars are the best. With the new Viper they changed the shape a bit. A mistake - you can't improve on perfection. Nope the original will always be the best, no matter how many evolutions they make they'll always be diluting and messing with something that was so right first time round.

The largest production car petrol engine in the world and not a V8 - something better- a V10 with a distinctive sound never forgotten, and much better than a V12, which just wouldn't suit a muscle car. I also love it's links with Carroll Shelby and the Cobra name. I love the twin bubble tin top, the unique windscreen wipers (they should have kept the side exhausts protruding though), the Viper badge and the fact that it has no non-essential driving aids. Absolutely fantastic in every single way.
This from a dude who's never even seen one in the flesh!
