I know we've already had threads on this car, but I found this to be interesting. Porsche has officially claimed 7:42 at the NBR for the 997 TT. That's pretty quick, and what I find to be very impressive is the fact that the new Z06, which is lighter, and has around 20-25 more horsepower tied with it. I really thought that we'd have to wait for the GT3 to tie it or beat it. Now I really can't wait to see how fast the GT3 and the RS will do. The 997 TT beat the 996 TT time by about 14 seconds. It's about time this 997 TT info is released, I'm getting sick of magazines like MotorTrend comparing the Z06 to a base 911.:-k

I think the GT3 will beat it by a few seconds.
Its more of a track car than the TT.

I hope the GT3 smashes this time. It will just be a good thing for Porsche. What are some other cars in this time area?

I thought it was just because of being heavier, having less HP, and being AWD. I really didn't think it would be as fast. The GT3 is always going to be faster around the track than the Turbo so I'm really hoping for a 7:38 ish time. I'm always blown away how Porsche usually has less HP than it's competitors and usually beats them. But then I would be because I'm biased towards Porsche and a Euro snob on top of that.:D I'm only half serious.:p

Quite a good job done by Porsche, but it makes a whole lot of sense price-wise to compare a 911 to a Z06.

You cant really say Porsche is THE best sports car manufacturer just because they have a good track time. To you, Porsche might be the ultimate sports car marque, but to others, it might not....so I think you get the picture..

I have said, will say again, and will always say that Porsche is THE BEST overall sports car maker in the world. They are track proven, durable, and street credible. They last for years and take more abuse than anything I've ever driven but a CJ-5! lol...

The fastest cars at the 'Ring average 100-102MPH

keyword..AVG...
Meaning that their AVG speed is 100mph. including corners ETC ETC ETC.

I'm speaking of the high speed sections, which RAISE your average....in where the true "distance" can be observed by onlookers...

which is usually a 120+MPH speed...meaning at 120MPH 4 seconds is a big gap..
Especially considering ONE of the 2 cars is built to corner better than any one before it...
