Does any one other than me think that Citroen should come back to the American automobile market? With the Xsara and C1, C2, C3, and C4 Sport, Citroen could compete with Mitsubishi and Subaru.

Well, let's be honest. Citroen makes affordable light small engined economical cars.

Next to that, they make some of the cars tested as the 'worst place to be in an accident'. (This pretty much sums up their complete C range of cars)

The Xsara was a decent car but apart from commercials they have not really done anything innovating for a few decades now. If anything they are losing ground to Korean competitors.

What citroen needs is a car that will lift both the brand name and the car quality above being mediocre. A good quality luxury sedan could do such a thing as these are the cars that currently indicate a car companies identity. Citroen doesn't have a car like that in their program.

I think that Citroen wouldnt be in the sedan market, but in the sport car market if it would come to America.

Where the Mustang would eat it alive.

I don't think it'd do much better than the Camaro, sales wise.

What you said makes no sense, its like comparing a BMW 3 series with a Ford Thunderbird. They are 2 different cars with different purposes. The Mustang is a dragster and the Citroen is a rally car.

I meant financially. The Mustang is a huuuuuuge seller here in America. And as far as I can see it, most of the people in the US that buy the Subaru and Mitsubishi wouldn't go for the Citroen, it doesn't have the same cult-following over here that the other two have.

Why I said that Renault is more likely to come to America is because Renault owning Nissan and Infiniti so it has a dealer and supplier networks here.

Well, seeing as the Xsara has now been replaced by the Citroen C4, I doubt the Xsara will come state-side.

There's a limited possibility of this happening. Pegeout might dabble in the market soon, and if they succeed, then Citroen will follow, but there's no doubt Citroen has found their 'Frenchness' over the past few years, after a decade of horrible and boring designs all through the 90's.

Citroen no longer make the xsara - they stopped production mid 2000 - and besides, the car shown is a Kronos rally car - not directly linked to Citroen

I think that the Citroen would be good for the American Car market because there is too much of a cult folowing for Subaru and Mitsubishi, especially Subaru. If the Citroen was brought to America it would most likely be able to get up to cult status fairly easily and probably stand a chance aginst those two in due time. But i do think we are more likely to see Renault in America than the Citroen
