[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]On the way to production

At the recent Los Angeles Motor Show in January, Volkswagen had a most unusual concept car on display – a three wheeler or trike called GX3. It is powered by a 1.6 litre four cylinder engine delivering 125 HP. Due to the light weight of the vehicle it is almost as fast as a Porsche 911. The GX3 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 sec., fuel consumption is 5.2 litre/100 km and top speed is 200 km/h. It has rear wheel drive and a six speed manual transmission.

However, while a Porsche costs in the $71,300 USD, the GX3 could be available at $17,000 already. Until now it was a question of how the show car would be accepted by the public, and apparently the acceptance was good . Because here are first prototype pictures of the road going version, caught during secret testing at Lotus in England, which is quite a sensation. A co-operation between Volkswagen and Lotus – the latter owned by Proton, Malaysia - could mean that the odd three wheeler made by Volkswagen and Proton-Lotus is meant to be sold not only in the US but worldwide.

The test car on the photos is in various ways different from the concept model. It is furthermore equipped with different types of alloys wheels for testing plus two extra supporting wheels on the side

Must be quite distinctive and easy for the spy photographers to spot. I was quite skeptical about it comming out, I still am, but it would be damn awesome if it did someday.

Whats stupid about it? 3 Wheel cars are nothing new and there is alot more out there then the T-Rex. One of my favorites thats been around along time is this

your forgeting that this vehicle will probally only be 1200-1500 lbs. The vehicle I posted above is a little over 1500lbs and is powered by a audi 1.8 about 225 hp . Thats enough hp to get it to 60 in sub 4 seconds
